Review Jade Seafood Restaurant - Richmond

They have early bird dim sum with 20 percent off from 10 to 11 am. You can make reservations which is recommended. If you have to choose, choose the shrimp dumpling over the pork. It's superior Everything we ordered was good. They use large shrimp for their rice rolls which is nice. The pork Bao was nice and fluffy. Parking is available for free in the parking lot.

Wow - what an amazing restaurant. We made a reservation for dinner at this restaurant and when we got there, realized it wasn't the place we had in mind, but went inside regardless, and again, WOW, it was the best mistake that evening! The food was absolutely delicious. Everything tasted fresh with amazing flavors. We had lobster that was pulled straight from the tank, the fried rice and chow mein were on point and not oily by any means, and the sweet and sour pork is an absolute must have! I definitely recommend this place because I know we'll be coming back here again, very soon!

The food was good and nicely presented. The only drawback was that it got busy at around 7 and it took awhile to find someone to take our order.

Tasty and good quality food. We tried 5 different steamed, pan-fried, and deep-fried dim sums, and they were all different and well prepared. We tried some new items that we'd never tried before, and they were all amazing and freshly made. We got there just before they do the last call for the lunch, so we didn't get the best service and we had to hear them prepare all the other tables loudly even though it was still before their closing time for lunch, but they still let us stay to finish our food since we called and asked them before getting there.
Little Journey
This is one of the best chinese restaurant in town. The environment is cosy, the service is excellent, the food quality is very consistent. They never make us down. Recently their $128 for 4 dinner set is the best value for money choice that you cannot miss. The beef tenderloin is so tender and surprisingly the eggplant is not too oily. The lobster is fresh and very savoury and flavorful.

Delicious dim sum and great service. Busy place so don't forget to make a reservation.

Eating out is getting to be so costly, and eating at Jade seafood is no exception; $35 per person for dim sum is a bit much though. Sure the food is good, service is adequate and parking is ok too but I do miss the days when $20 per person was already too much - and those days not that long ago. But, hey, no fair to whine just about Jade as eating out is getting to just be too expensive in Vancouver all over. Food as I said remains good, and they do use quite high quality ingredients ie. the chicken paws in their phoenix claws are the larger, more expensive ones instead of the tiny ones at other places, the prawn rice rolls has 3 large succulent prawns in each roll, and the Har Gau also stuffed with these large prawns. The egg tarts were great as it was served warm - nice touch! Service was nothing exceptional except that like most places now, there does seem to not be enough staff and the only thing that helped was that the restaurant was not full. Dim sum restaurants on Saturdays at 12:30 should be jam packed with people forming a line, but not so at Jade! Maybe there’s a reason for this that I’ve not figured out yet - could it be that indeed they’re too expensive now?

This was my favorite dim sum place in vancouver. After becoming vegan, I found that jade had the best vegetarian/vegan options! 💓☺️ (Their meat options are great too - the pig trotters used to be my favorite before becoming vegan.) Edit: After COVID-19 their menu shrank and there’s no longer as many good veg dishes. A bit disappointing…

It's been almost 10 years since I've had dim sum here. At that time, I was with my ex girlfriend's mother. She invited me to dine with her. My experience of the food at that time was very memorable. The quality of the dim sum was fantastic.<br/><br/>To the present, my girlfriend and I decided to try this place. She's never eaten her and since my experience was so memorable, I promised she would have a good meal. Unfortunately as the food came out one by one, this current quality wasn't what I remembered. Our items were over steamed and our rice rolls were luke warm. On the positive side, we did make it before 11am and we received a 20% discount off our bill. I would say it helped justified our experience. 20% is significant.<br/><br/>There's plenty of parking in their parkade. Our services were terrific, 5/5. However, 10 years ago I would have rated a 5/5 for the food, as for now, I would come back again to try their dinner menu. Perhaps I may have a better experience till then, and I'll bump my rating.<br/>
Yes. We,re Eating Again.
I'm not sure why "Use Other Door" so often sends me scurrying down sides of buildings, through parkades and around corners assuming there is complete other point of ingress. Perhaps these signs should be sold in pairs, the other reading "It Means Use This Door, Stupid" which could be posted 12" to the left of the first sign. That first challenge met, my partner and I found ourselves upstairs in the lovely Jade Seafood Restaurant dining room. Big round cloth covered family tables, a couple of impressive chandeliers and a case of appropriately Jade carvings met us in this fairly large restaurant probably half full at 9:15 on Saturday morning. There would be quite the line up by the time we left an hour later for 2 good reasons; 1) some of the best dim sum that we have had and, 2) a 20% discount between 9 am and 11 am. Many of us brag that our own cultural heritage leads us to be the cheapest people on earth and I am no exception but 20% is pretty significant! And as mentioned the food was great! Lamb dumplings arrived first. Flour wrapper type, pan fried on both sides and so delicate that I tore them with my rudimentary chop stick skills, a shame because they were so moist inside and I lost some of that to the table cloth. These were just excellent! Next came Crab dumplings which were in translucent rice wrapping and fairly stuffed with tasty crab! My partner and I both agreed that the Phoenix Claws and Rice Roll with Chinese Donut were both the best versions of these that we have had (and we always have both). The donut itself was crisp, maybe the key is just out of the fryer and came with the usual peanut, soy sauce and Hoisin type dipping sauces. Finally came the Deep Fried Sweet Bun with a condensed milk sauce (actually it arrived first but we ate it last). A little to rich for me but my partner took no prisoners and nothing was wasted.  Service was efficient and friendly and the restaurant was comfortable and accommodating. My new favorite dim sum place? I feel like I have said that a lot lately and I guess everyplace has something to offer but Jade Seafood Restaurant is certainly one of the best.

We were really surprised that the place was still half empty on this Boxing Day afternoon. We ordered 6 dishes, some were okay but some were a bit disappointing. Those standard dimsum items like rice rolls or sui mai or chicken feet were ok, anything that's too innovative were just bleh.

Been here yesterday for dimsum. I think this restaurant is underrated 'cause I really liked the dimsum compared to other chinese restaurants. Plus, the service is good for its price. Not pricey at all. I'd go back for dimsum, especially for the crab claw and siomai. Too bad I got so focused eating that I forgot to take photos. 😛

I have to give some praise where praise is due. We had our child's Full Moon celebration dinner here with almost 100 guests. I chose this restaurant over other ones because I've experienced their food and their service and both were top notch, and I wasn't mistaken.<br/><br/>Everybody was impressed with their food. It's hard to get into the details of every course, but the flavours were just right. They helped everyone split the courses. Every single dish on every person's plate was beautifully laid out. <br/><br/>You know people are happy when they're taking all the leftovers home!! Not a single morsel remained.<br/><br/>The service is top notch. You wouldn't think it's coming from a Chinese restaurant. Their servers are mostly older gentlemen with decades of experience, and it shows. They aren't "jaded" but are patient with everybody. They helped me out setting up the media centre for a little slideshow, and provided me with polite suggestions, as the host, for arrangements and setup. Over the course of two months we had good communication in planning.<br/><br/>I highly recommend this place for banquets (weddings, Full Moons...), business meals, and even casual dinners. Always had a great experience here and they are really a gem among the crappy Chinese restaurants that are in abundance in this town.

had dim sum here after checking in to our hotel and it wasn't really that great.. the food was alright, portions were alright.. the one thing we tried that was really good was the thai style fried tofu thang which was HELLLLA GOOOD but the other stuff was meh and i'd say the dimsum dishes in yyc are better...

Hey guys! Today I have a set meal review from Jade Seafood Restaurant over in Richmond. I’ll be covering the Special Abalone Set Menu. Is this worth your money or should you look somewhere else for your family seafood dinner? Read on to find out. Food: With the Special Abalone Set Menu ($40/person), Team Fam got the following:

Why don't they just close it down and build condo?. On a regular weekday, there is no chef. 3 out of 4 dishes will take either an hour or reserve from the previous day. The better answer will be they can't afford a chef on staff on the weekday because they simply have to sales since there is hardly any customer.<br/><br/>The best course of action for the owner will be:<br/>A. sell the land and build condo<br/>B. use the land as car park

Bad service, food not as gud as expected. Teapot lid has been open for 15min, no one cares about it, until we've managed to ask an unhappy lady to refill hot water, unwillingly grab hot pots over, shouldn't she be bringing pots to refill boiling water.<br/>Food- only partial we've ordered is acceptable. One of the dishes which is pork feet in vinegar is extra disappointed, i've never had one which has no vinegar taste at all, but only salty taste. <br/><br/>For sure won't go again.

Tastyville. So we came here for dim sum, had to wait a bit as it was very busy. Pork dumplings were good, needle noodle and beef was very good, the deep fried radish cake type things were also very tasty, and the bbq pork buns were very good too :)

Bad attitude but great food.... Had the 6 person dinner deal, but they told us that next time they would have to charge for 7 people because we brought our 17 month daughter. (they said that the deal was for 4-6 people no matter the age) Ridiculous! <br/><br/>Their pepper soup was waaaaay too salty, however the rest of the food was delicious

April, 28, 2019 @ marine bay restaurant on Alexandra road<br/><br/>3 of us were planning to go to dynasty shanghainese restaurant, but they fully booked till 2pm.. then tried to go to tin tin.. but no parking space there.. its end up go to this marine bay restaurant...<br/><br/>It's almost empty, including us.. only 5 tables with 4 servers around 1 PM..<br/><br/>After I look at the menu... no wonder.. it's really expensive with bad services ever... we need to ask 4 times with different servers for our chili sauce/ tea/ napkins..<br/><br/>They also mixed up our orders and the table next to us orders.. how can that be with less than 5 tables of customers?!<br/><br/>The only dish we like is ... black vinegar pork ribs.. crispy outside and soft inside with tasty sauce<br/><br/>Rest of dishes taste so so.. nothing special like..<br/><br/>Shrimp dumplings/ pork dumplings/ steamed chicken feet/ bbq duck with taro pastry/ deep fried pork and shrimp dumplings/ beef rice roll/ rice roll with Chinese donut<br/><br/>Cost me $ 64 + 15% tips<br/><br/>The lady who got short hair wear glasses was so rude (WE recognized her.. she used to work as dim sum carrier at continental restaurant on no. 5 road), after she punch in the amount into machine.. she tried to grap my credit card to tap the machine herself, WITHOUT SHOW ME THE AMOUNT. SHE WAS SO RUDE AND SAID, " U WILL pay regular anyway. I can tap it for u."<br/><br/>I said to her ," at least I need to look at what did u type in, before I pay."<br/><br/>She black face right away and throw the machine to the table and turned around. OMG.. EXTREMELY RUDE.. NO WONDER NO CUSTOMER THERE?!<br/><br/>I paid 15% tips for last time I go to this restaurant.<br/><br/>November, 2018<br/>Everything is so expensive, bad services, full of msg, noisy.<br/><br/>May, 14, 2017<br/>We went there for celebrate mother's day dinner. 4 of us Had red rock cod on guy lan, red rock cod / tofu/ guy choy soup, 2 pigeons (it's surprisely tasty and juicy), smoked chicken (taste and look like soya chicken to me, not worth $17 for half small chicken), seafood on crispy noodles (not worth for $19 for 2 tiny shrimp/ 1 scallop/ 4 small pieces of squip on tasteless crispy noodles). Food came so fast , but the red bean dessert taste burnt.<br/><br/>March, 15, 2017<br/>I went there for lunch with parents today. We tried their Sakura BBQ pork ribs (I saw their poster at front door and its look good, so i just order it without know the price, but it's surprised tasty and big portion with @reasonable price $28.99); mixed mushrooms dumplings (thin skin with tasty mixed mushrooms inside); crispy Japanese ginger/shrimp wrapped (it's my favorite); steamed shrimp rice roll/ steamed Sakura pork sui mai/ steamed pork ribs/ steamed chicken sticky rice and steamed chicken feet are so so. Bad service. I used to go there every single week but I don't think I will ever go back again as the service dropped so bad. No master how the food is so great. Whoever picked up the phone, there's no telephone manner. Her voice is super sharp and rude. The restaurant managers & servers have no smile. To my point of view, the restaurant only serves high-end peoples or other countries people, not the local people's anymore. No matter you are their usual customers. If you plan to go there, I suggest NO. There's no way to spend the $$$ and you will get nothing at the end.
Tom
Foods are just so so ,however waiters had air of haughtily aloofness . I strongly recommend people don't go there ....

Eat here. Great Dim Sum.

Feeling the Joy. We went to this restaurant early July. It was a weekday and at 11:30 am there was already a line up for the dim sum. We were seated in due course and were very pleased with all the dumplings we ordered. We had the shrimp dumplings, Sui Mai dumplings, the rice noodles, the spicy calamari. Our server was very good. Everything was spiced beautifully, served piping hot, and we enjoyed every bite. When we are back in Richmond, we will come here again. YUM!

Oh my god, every dimsum are salty and heavy on MSG!!!! If you need sodium supplement , you should check this out!!!

The service was seriously horrible. First of all when i called them to make a reservation the lady who i talked to she just hung up on me with saying nothing like bye, thanks or whatever right after asked my name. I thoght that was really rude but whatever. We went there for dim sum on sunday around 12:30. We got the table in 5min (that was the only good part) but had to wait to order for 10 min. To get an attention we had to wave at 4 different waitresses. All they said was wait or looked away. To get a glass of water, we had to ask 3 times. We waited for food for 40 min but nothing came while the other tables which ordered after us got all there food. We called the manager to cancel our order because we just wanted to get out of there. He came back and told us that he canceled our order. No apologies. The worst experience I ever had in the restaurant.

They actually defend the serving of a cruel and out dated ingredient as Shark Fin. <br/>Shame on you.
Dining-out
Embarassment. This resturant is an embarassment for blatantly ignoring that all traditions need to evolve in a changing world. The entire world recognises that shark finning is cruel and alters fragile ecosystems. Shame on you for still serving shark fin soup. There is no honor or prestige in stuborn inflexibility.
The Dinning_detective
Just ask and the hosts will explain the dishes.. The dinning_detective and his foodie friends were just blown away with the Jade Seafood Restaurant in Richmond B.C. this past weekend. It sometimes becomes difficult to experience dinning on Dim Sum in an untried all Asian restaurant. You get intimidated by the language barrier or the service with attitude approach. The Jade Seafood Restaurant is a new found gem to a lover of good small portions of exotic and simple complex Chinese dim sum. The waiter took over and took the time to give us first time diners a good description of a selection he recommended. Quality definitely reigns supreme in this restaurant. The small seafood hotpots with a ginger brown sauce sent our taste buds reeling with pleasure. All the dishes that followed from the taro crab claw to the most scrumptious lamb dumplings and personal serving of a Buddha Feast with sticky rice was first class. We will return and try out a few more of this award winning chefs cuisine and I will ask the chef personally if he will grant me an interview and maybe he will share one of his recipes in the near future. Good Stuff!<br/> <br/>Chef Tony Luk offers a world of fine Contemporary Chinese Cuisine at the Jade Seafood Restaurant. Tantalize your tastebuds with more traditional Chinese fare, or dare to be adventurous with our more exotic Western-Inspired Chinese dishes.<br/> <br/>Whatever your choice may be, we’re certain you will find the food and experience outstanding.<br/><br/>thedinning_detective

Don't Bring Babies or Children. We attended dinner with family at this restaurant and it is usually our favourite restaurant – good food and good service. Jade needs to improve on the speed of serving the food since our meal took in excess of 2.5 hours !! <br/><br/>Our family of 30 (yes Thirty) occupied two large tables. It must be noted that we are a loud Chinese family and it is common for Chinese restaurants to be noisy. <br/><br/>Unfortunately we had a bad experience. Just before dessert was served, our 8 month old started to fuss and we can’t blame her for fussing / crying. <br/><br/>One of the manager’s approached us and told us to take the baby outside as she was disturbing the other dinner guests. <br/><br/>Firstly – there was may be a 5 tables left. It was about 910pm so not a lot of people were left. I was shocked and insulted that they wanted us to take our child outside. Dessert was served and we hoped we could finish dessert and then leave. This would have taken about 5 minutes or so. The waiter – seeing us pack up – actually told us to stay and enjoy dessert. It seemed like the waiter knew why were leaving – manager telling us to take the baby outside. <br/><br/>We acknowledge that a crying baby will ruin any diner’s experience and have taken her out until she was quiet but this situation was different. There were maybe 5 tables left and we were a large loud group of 30. Also – dessert was being served so it was our intention to finish dessert and leave. This is not a fine dining restaurant where people speak softly - it is a Chinese Restaurant. For all of you who have been to a lot of Chinese restaurants, quiet is not its best feature. <br/><br/>We were upset (more me than my wife) and approached the manager. He was defensive at first but became apologetic, but regardless I gave him an ear full. <br/><br/>We like Jade and this was a very bad experience. It may have been a one off but this is the last time we will dine at this restaurant. We will take our business elsewhere. (My dad’s 80th birthday is coming up – they just lost out on another dinner for 30 plus)

The dinner was pretty decent though my favourite was this scallop fried rice dish that was super flavourful. The lobster was pretty good here too. The service was friendly though I think one of the servers was hilarious as he was a little over the top with very humorous and maybe unnecessary comments. Anyhow, that guy made an average Chinese restaurant to be quite the memorable meal.<br/><br/>Free parking in their private lot...always a plus. And the restaurant and rest rooms were clean.

Refreshing. Coming from Saskatoon, I can't help but feel that my desire in dim sum has been renewed. Food was delicious and the food came out quickly. The service isn't very hospitable, but considering how many people are coming in and out, and the constant demand for attention, I'm not very surprised.
Accord_princess
Express customer service - aweful. Food was alright. Service was bad. The waiter sneaked by to check on us and rushed to drop off the bill before we asked for it. 4 different waiters & cashier checked on us to see if the bill was paid in a less than 5 minutes period. The obvious sign to tell us to pay & leave. No one was waiting at all. None of the waiters or captains said good bye and/or thank you when leaving the restaurant. People who worked there are very rude and have absolutely no customer services skills. We paid for dining there to enjoy the food & service & we were treated like we were dining at a McDonald express service.

Poor reception. I have heard about that this restaurant was a good chinese restaurant. However, my experience with the reception was rating it to be poor! I called to make reservation, the reception picked up the phone and asked me to wait with a rude manner, about one minute later the line got cut off. I tried again, the same thing happened, so I decided to go there directly. When I approached the reception, she told me to wait in her rude manner again and then took off. She didn't even took my name on the waiting list. I was so upset and left the restaurant. I have been to so many chinese restaurant in town and none of them have a reception like this. I will never go there again!

We had our wedding reception there. The food and service was excellent. Best dish I like was the deep fried crab claws.

Superb dining experience. The restaurant scores high in all the five important elements of a good restaurant: food quality, service, ambiance, location, and parking. <br/>I asked one of the managers to recommend some of their specialties which include live crab and scallops, and balsamic prawns. We also had their award-winning chicken. Everything was just close to perfection. The bill was only about $35 per person for 4 of us. A great deal for a great dinner. we shall be back soon.

Food is average. Price is slightly more on re expensive side

The acclaimed Cantonese eatery that has received many awards such as best dim sum and best upscale Chinese! <br/><br/>The day we went was a busy morning and we got seated after waiting for quite a while (which I already forgot how long).

Between the hours of 9 am - 11 am dim sum is 20% off! Make sure you have the server print out your receipt to ensure that you get the discount! Aside from the regular dim sum fare, we also got a set where you can choose 1 dim sum item, 1 main dish, a bowl of congee and dessert for only $9.99! Another huge plus is that the tea at Jade is free! Usually dim sum restaurants charge $1 per head. Cheese Mushroom Tart 4/5 stars I'm not sure if this is exclusive to Jade or not, because I'm never seen this on the menu at any other dim sum restaurant. Cheese isn't very prevalent in Chinese cooking, so this was definitely different from any other dim sum item I've ever tried. The tart was filled with a caramelized mushroom filling, which is topped with cheese, and torched. The mushroom filling is incredibly creamy and fragrant from the cheese. The torching result

Jade is a typical cleaner chinese restaurant which gives me the impression that I will have good service and with their above average prices, the quality of food will be good..
Long Live Feasts
The food here is always a hit, but I prefer venturing to other restaurants solely because I prefer sitting in a  nice lit dining area. Not to say that it isn’t clean here, but I think The Jade has seen better days and a nice renovation would certainly do them no harm. Nonetheless, I had a satisfying and appetizing time as each dish was well-executed. As well, since we ordered before 11 am, automatically giving us a 20% discount, and today being the start of no longer having HST, the bill was cheaper too! This is their infamous mushroom dumpling. If you don’t like mushrooms, you will certainly not like this dish as it has a very earthy fragrance. The dish is very simplistic but extremely flavourful. The wrapper wasn’t too thick and there was a generous amount of a few types of mushrooms.  This is one of their new features on their menu and I believe it is called the porcini mushroom bun. It’s basically a chicken bun with mushrooms in the filling. I would consider this to be as delicious

I suppose the number of customers that morning was indicative of the popularity of Jade. I don't suppose that it is true but I heard that the reason for the lack of customers at Jade is because of a ghost. Apparently, someone related to the restaurant died and has since been haunting the place. Not sure where that story came from but I don't hear about ghost stories in other Chinese restaurants.
SunnyYQ
Each dish was clearly made with care and was of high quality. Quality over quantity is just fine by me. The flavours were delicate and complex, but nicely blended and hinting at simplicity.

The fact that we finished every single bite of every single dish we ordered today was a testament to how good the dim sum meal was. Every single dish we had today was well executed and very, very tasty.

Living in Richmond, there are countless Chinese restaurants to choose from that are pretty amazing and unique in their menu but Jade Seafood has a better edge in their food dishes than some places.
Every Day Is A Food Day
Overall, the Special Abalone Set Menu was a pretty good deal. I know that service is usually pretty bad at Jade, but surprisingly, we had really good service that night. Very attentive and our food came out just as we were about to finish the previous course. Parking of course was a nightmare though, as there are two other restaurants downstairs now.
Every Day Is A Food Day
They essentially have their own parkade, which is a big lot, but the place is still impossible to find spots. If you place an order before 11 a.m., you can also get a discount for your dim sum. I believe it was 20% off. Salted Chicken Congee Instead of ordering the typical dim sum, we chose to get a dim sum set lunch that would feed 4 diners. It was only $39.99 so it was extremely affordable and filling. First, we had the Salted Chicken Congee which came with salted Chinese donuts and salted peanuts on the side. The congee was flavourful because there were pieces of salted chicken in it. However, I disliked how the chicken still had bones, so it was a little difficult to eat. Vegetable in Fish Soup The second dish was Vegetables in Fish Soup . It was topped with bean curd. The vegetables dipped in the fish soup made it tasty and healthy. Chicken and Vegetable Chow Mein The third dish was Chicken and Vegetabl

Generally when you come for dim sum you can expect to see the general culprits such as Shrimp Dumplings, Siu Mais, Steam Spareribs and the like so I’m not going to bother review these. Just note that they are delicious and high quality.
Eating With Kirby
Funny enough, I've lived in Richmond all my life and I've never once attempted The Jade Seafood Restaurant on Alexandra road.  This is a popular local spot for dim sum and Alaskan king crab. Their most famous dish (and the dish that I was itching to try) is their Brown Sugar Rice Cake that resembles a honeycomb. Their dim sum menu at a glance. Prices are around the mid to high range I'd say. First off, I have to say their service was atrocious and the cleanliness of the tables and cutlery were off-putting. We found dirty cups, tea leaves stuck to the outside of the teapot, dirty tablecloths, and our waiter was non-existent. Anyways, their Steamed Mushroom Dumpling ($4.98) is one of their most popular dim sum items and for good reason. The abundance of mixed mushrooms and the hint of truffle oil really brought the flavours to life. I loved this dish. The  Steamed Fish Maw with Fish Paste ($5.68)  on the other hand, was quite disappointing. They must have overworked the shrimp paste beca

Overall, it was a very good dim sum meal and one of the better ones I've had in a while. Jade Seafood Restaurant is considered to be one of the more "high end" dim sum places in Richmond, but since my dining companions didn't really eat much, the price was decent... for me.

The Jade Seafood Restaurant’s parking lot was packed when we arrived around 10:30am (they open at 9am) but we were able to snag a table in the back without a problem.  Speaking of which, they have some pretty large tables (I saw one that could seat 16) so this might be a good place to go if you have a large family dinner.

This meal was a little modified, and with any AKC dinner you go to – there will be slight variations in what is served. Our first dish was the Mushroom Dumpling – typically the first dish at an AKC or any set meal would be a Cold Appetizer platter, but this was an interesting change.

Now lets talk about the service. It was a typical Chinese restaurant service - which means you get no service. It took 20 minutes for someone to take our order, non of the servers were very good at making eye-contact. It was near the end of our meal before anyone gave us new dishes - our old dishes were piled high with bones from the squab. It also took several tries to flag down a server so we could pay our bill because everyone was too busy standing around and not making eye-contact. Oh and one more thing one of the servers "complained" that we ordered way too much food for 3 people because he was having trouble finding room to fit each dish. In my defense the restaurant staff should be intelligent enough to know how to organize a table full of food and its just bad manners to complain in front of your customers. Anyways I am going to stop here, because we won't be back anytime soon, not because of the typical bad service but because the food quality was pretty poor.

We found their items to be a bit pricier than the average dim sum place, but I guess we are paying for quality and service at this place.

Every year, I look forward to eating Alaskan King Crab. When Tourism Richmond invited me to come down to join them and some food bloggers and media, I couldn’t say no. We headed to Jade Seafood Restaurant in Richmond. This restaurant has been recipients of multiple Chinese Restaurant Awards and Vancouver Magazine Awards. I haven’t been to this restaurant till now. The restaurant was packed and most tables were having Alaskan King Crab. It is always best to call ahead of time to guaranteed the size of King Crab that you want for your party. You can get one up to 20 pounds! Since there was only 7 of us, we settled for 7 pounds ($28.88 per pound), which is a great size so everyone gets about a pound each. They can turn this crab into 3 or 4 dishes depending on what dinner set you choose. The dinner set we got was the 10 person dinner set, which comes with 10 courses and cost a total of $398. Items on it can be modified. It is a bit pricier than some Chinese restaurants in town, but always

"He is not Chinese, he is a banana. He is only doing this to get cheap political votes.." said Chung in a Chinese-language interview....So because I was made in Canada, I'm not Chinese? This is my personal message to David Chung: <br/>You sir, are an %^$&#, and I will never eat in your restaurant. And I'll be sure to pass on your sentiments to all of my CBC friends and family. <br/>

My friend Andy had his birthday dinner at Jade Seafood Restaurant last month. I was one of the 10 invited for the birthday king crab feast. Given that it was king crab season, it was what Andy wanted for his birthday, so for our dinner, we ordered a large king crab with a 10 course set meal. There were 3 ways to cook the king crab, we picked the legs to be steamed with garlic and green onions, deep fried claws, and the rest for a baked fried rice. Steamed king crab with garlic is the best, it's probably my favorite way to prepare king crab legs. The meat was super fresh, there was a really nice blend of the sweetness from the crab and the garlic. I could eat a whole plate of this and not get sick of it. The deep fried king crabs had a really light batter and it was really crispy. It was seasoned really nicely with pepper and deep fried garlic slices. The crab meat was super moist, and again like the steamed ones, you can really taste the freshness

What I like about The Jade is their willingness to challenge tradition by offering innovative dim sum and overall dishes. I wouldn’t go as far as to call it “fusion”, but they do add their own twists to authentic Chinese food without butchering it.

For dinner I ordered items special to Chinese New Year, and award winning dishes signature to Jade Seafood Restaurant.

Are You Gonna Eat That
We’ve gone for two king crab dinners so far this season. The first was at Richmond’s Jade Seafood Restaurant (玉庭軒), where it was priced at $16.80/pound. It’s higher than other years because the commercial catches were much smaller this season. That also means supply is going to run out soon. (Jade has already raised prices to about $19/pound this week.)

I've been very fortunate lately to have at least one weekday off per week to go have dim sum with my mom. I love going to "yum cha", and I look forward to it everytime. This particular Monday, we were originally planning t

The har gow (shrimp dumplings, the bellwether of quality dim sum) are great, the steamed mushroom dumplings are even better, and the baked BBQ pork buns are melt-in-your-mouth delicious. I can never get enough of the pickled ginger with century egg and prawn roll. And you can end your meal with an unconventional dessert: blueberry glutinous balls. Inside the soft skin of these chilled balls are fresh whipped cream and—would you believe?—blueberries.
