This place has the best milk tea...staff members are friendly and piece is fair
We were really happy when Marathon opened a location closer to us. I do, however, prefer the taste of the original location. One of the owners won Hong Kong’s international milk tea competition in 2012. I actually prefer their yin yang (milk tea and coffee mixed drink). I've noticed over the past few years that their tea seems to be less strongly brewed, although it's still the lightest and smoothest in texture and mouth feel that I've found so far in Toronto.
I came here with a couple of friends after having a large meal close by. The Timmies in the area was full and did not look very cozy. This was the next best option. We all ordered their famous Hong Kong style milk tea. This place has won the award for best Hong Kong milk tea in Hong Kong. They have the photos and awards to prove it! They also have other breakfast, lunch, and other snack type of items on their menu. Their hours of business are 6:30am to 10:00pm. Even though we got there late, the owner still let us enjoy our drink past 10:00pm. The milk tea was excellent as always. Our friends were discussing when we would try their breakfast menu here in the morning.
Since I was nearby, I decided to come and order Hong Kong style milk tea since I've been seeing it on instagram for a while now.
The milk tea was thick and smooth with a strong tea flavour. It was good for the milk tea that I've had outside. I still think my grandma makes the best milk tea though!
I tried a bit of the roast beef that Lawrence had in his breakfast set and I loved how smooth the slice of roast beef was. Yum! I also tried a sip of the infamous milk tea. It was incredibly smooth!
On a snowy day, my friend and I decided to get something to warm ourselves up. We decided to go to Marathon Cafe 馬力雄咖啡店 for some Hong Kong style comfort food. This place is famous for Hong Kong style Milk Tea since the owner won numerous of milk tea competitions. My ideal cup of HK milk tea should be silky smooth but the milk should never covered the fragrance of the tea - and Marathon did a good job doing so. Also, you could never go wrong with their Hong Kong style French toast. However, the macaroni with ham was really bad, skip it.
