I went to the place with my office colleagues and friends.

The ambience is great with clean location. They have ample parking place to park your car.

The staff is very humble specially the gentleman who served us food, forgot to ask his name and the manager - Dilawar Singh

We ordered dal makhani, Awadh murg, jalfrezi with some roti and garlic naan.

Since I am vegetarian I had dal makhani and jalfrezi with roti, it tasted amazing. They make the food from the scratch and it was super fresh.. Mind blowing texture of each and every dish.

I would recommend this place for anyone who is looking for authentic Indian food.

Thank you for maintaining the taste which we look for .

Never expected good indian food/restaurant in Richmond hill. Varun (manager) suggested some good dishes which made our dinner amazing. We tried soya chaap which was soft and melting. Last time I had chaap was when I visited Chandigarh and never expected to eat here. Mirch baigan masala as main course was excellent. I am not an eggplant fan but we took a risk to order this vegetable as was highly suggested by Varun. Last but not the least Aam panna drink was excellent and loved every sip of it.

Adrak isn’t a place you simply stumble upon. Located at the base of an office building, in the dark you merely see their glowing sign - if you’re looking for it – then still need to drive around the block to enter the complex at the back of the building. While the restaurant doesn’t benefit from a direct view from Hwy 7, they do occupy sizeable space and is one of the poshest Indian restaurants I’ve visited in Toronto. Adrak also has a contemporary vibe: there’s no glint of red or gold, instead the comforting dark browns and cool creams that is reminiscent of a steak house … if a steak house features a huge tandoor oven in their open concept kitchen.

Diners are treated to an amuse bouche to start, a fried cheese ball that’s could be an arancini topped with a spiced curry. It’s unclear if the bite is authentic, but who cares, it's tasty.

Adrak’s menu is extensive, containing several dishes rarely found elsewhere. Feeling adventurous, we picked out a couple of unfamiliar appetizers to try such as the stuffed potato wheel ($15) where a potato is hollowed out, coated with poppy seeds, and stuffed with a cheese and spinach mixture. While it tastes pretty good, I could do without the

Just been there. Had pre-ordered a full raan e sikandari. Upon our arrival the waiter informed the chef to start preparing.

Meanwhile we ordered a non veg sampler, bread basket and a tandoori salad. These were nothing to call home for and was average fare.

Just as we finished the sampler, the raan was served which came without the saffron rice and dal makhni as indicated in the menu. Instead we were given some plain rice and offered some extra naans which was really not necessary since we had the bread basket.

The raan was awesome and something that everyone should try. Well marinated soft meat which almost fell off the bone. After some conversation with the waiter the saffron rice and dal makhni was served which also turned out pretty tasty.

We had to ask the waiter for some steak knives which should have been provided when the raan was served.

All in all we had an excellent evening in spite of the little hiccups and the waiter serving us did a good job of meeting our needs.

Something that we feel quite odd was that they do not accept tips on credit cards. They want to be paid cash. This we found counterintuitive because if one did not carry cash the waiters would miss out on their tips which is really unfair.
The management seriously needs to reconsider because it makes them look cheap.

We would definitely recommend this place.

Came here for lunch for a colleague's birthday. We had a fantastic server; so attentive and he offered great suggestions. We ordered way too much food for our party of 7, but everything was so tasty that we took all the leftovers to go. The decor and vibe of the resto are more upscale, but you can still find more affordable items on the menu. The entire menu is divided into vegetarian vs. non-vegetarian, which I found to be quite helpful. One of the best dishes I had was the Crispy Okra Salad. Definitely give it a try!

With this posting, this is my 2nd time coming to this very upscale Indian restaurant within the Richmond Hill/Markham area. Before this place was Madras Palace Indian restaurant (buffet style) that was all you can eat.

Food Rating: 4/5
Service: 3.5/5.

TIPS: This restaurant is very hidden from Hwy 7. You can only access this restaurant from one street north of Hwy 7 via (Wertheim) and NOT Hwy 7. This restaurant exists at the base of a business building (really poor location choice IMO). Easy to get to Wertheim via Commerce Valley Drive West.

Every year, I have the…let’s just say “honor” of visiting Richmond Hill for a conference, and every year I have a brief opportunity to sample its local restaurants. After a depressing encounter with a local sushi restaurant earlier in the evening, and despite nearing my digestive limit, I insisted on finding something better. That would be Adrak, and yes, it was better, and not marginally, but better like Mad Max: Fury Road being better than Transformers 4, like Texas barbecue being better than a rotten skunk found in the septic tank of a slaughterhouse. Hungry?

A year ago, I had just missed their grand opening. Hell, I thought it was closed now, as one door was locked. Inside I found posh fine Indian dining, a rarity I admit. Although one could accuse Adrak’s décor as being inconsistent, I found it refreshing, not settling on the stalwarts of draping one’s entire establishment in shades of brown. Hints of grey and white can be found, an intelligent arrangement of tables, and an exposed kitchen.

About that, a large chunk of the kitchen was enclosed in glass, leading me to believe it was either a chef aquarium or a gigantic sneeze-guard. In truth it was neither, more of a way to see the wonders of Indian cuisine without the misfortune of melting one’s face off. There were two tandoori ovens on display at the front, firing at over 600 degrees. The naan was made right in front you, by far one of the coolest ideas I’ve seen in Indian restaurants…or maybe even restaurants in their entirety. Posh bistros often have open kitchens to showcase cleanliness the proficiency of the kitchen staff. However, with such a concept also creates a lot of noise pollution. Adrak’s solution is inspired and worthy of reproduction. The menu was shockingly though pleasantly conservative, with barely half the options of normal Indian restaurants. This was because of an approach more suited for made-to-order cuisine rather than the refrigerated variety, like those so often seen with buffets. The prices were reasonable as well, perhaps almost too reasonable.

Having eaten not three hours prior, I was looking for something undersized and cheap, and those concepts are usually associated. I expected most big dishes to orbit around $20, so I settled on ordering something circa $16. I figured it was a solid play, focusing on a first page entry. You can probably see where this is going…

What I ended up getting was a dum- biryani, and for those unaware of what an authentic dum-buryani is, it’s a rice dish prepared in iron pot about the size of…ohh…Thunderdome. In it they pack rice, meat, and spices and then cook the entirety apparently on the surface of the sun. The moisture is kept sealed not by an iron or ceramic lid but by naan dough that completely seals what’s inside. I’ve seen this practice done, but only on TV with Gordon Ramsay where they enclosed a goat…like a whole goat. I’ve seen other places offer biryani, and they’ve all astounding, but never have I seen one presented traditionally in this manner. And it was incredible, seriously fantastic…once I let it set for fifteen minutes to cool. It put all other biryanis I’ve had to shame, even the ones I truly enjoyed. It created an echelon I never knew existed. Once experiencing paradise and then finding something better, what do you call it?

I downed it all with a tall glass of red, a recommended Yellow Tale shiraz out of Australia, a good pairing and one I’ll be acquiring upon my return. Despite only making it through half the dish and boxing the rest, I still made a point to order dessert. Gulab Jamun over ice cream, a great dish if the confection hadn’t entered the atmosphere thirty seconds prior. It must be a thing with Adrak that they serve everything at the temperature of which gold particles fuse at the Large Hadron Collider. Suffice to say the ice cream didn’t remain intact very long. Finally, to conclude the experience, I was served a small cup with what looked like a shriveled marshmallow. I was about to assume it was some pallet cleaner until the server poured hot water over the cup and the towel expanded like one of those crappy dinosaurs that took a day to expand to the size of a mushroom. That just raised Adrak outside of this reality. From service, to décor, to the meals served, Adrak is nothing short of perfection. What a shame it resides across the country.

Three days later, as I sat under my hotel sign at 10 pm watching traffic, I devoured the remains of my microwaved leftovers, still a great mean in itself.

We had the absolute pleasure of dining at Adrak for our Christmas dinner this year. We found ourselves alone this year and didn't want to prepare a large meal and thought we'd try dinning out for the first time in our lives. What a great decision. The entire staff made you feel like you were family and the atmosphere was one of peace an tranquility. While we love food from this part of the world, we are not experts and simply said "feed us". And feed us they did. Every dish was wonderful, allowing us to sample many different tastes. We will definitely return and would highly recommend Adrak - thanks again for making this year's Christmas Dinner one of the best ever.

Wow! My new favourite restaurant! The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The food was beyond yummy! We tried Lamb kebabs, Samosa chaat, Butter Chicken, Fish Curry, and Roti. Everything was impeccable. The truth is I’ve lived in the area and passed by this restaurant for many years. It just never occurred to me to check it out! Can’t wait to come back to try more dishes!

Adrak has quickly become my new favorite Indian Restraunt. The flavors are so bold and the meat is always perfectly tender and juicy. I highly recommend the non-vegetarian platter to start which includes a mix of different meat varieties done in tandoori style. My mouth is watering just thinking of it! I always enjoy my time here. Most recently, Terry and Varun were outstanding hosts and shout out to the both of them for facilitating a wonderful evening out. I'll be back soon! Keep up the wonderful food and service!

The best Indian restaurant in GTA, period. The head chef Rahul has done a great job bringing the taste of Delhi to Canada. The staff is very kind hearted, courteous and they never keep you waiting. Quick on their toes and yet keeping quiet. Food: This can be very subjective but I will just try and give my honest feedback. We ordered a bunch of items on the Menu, the best was the Delhi Butter chicken and the Rara Lamb curry. In Vegetarian, we liked the Kadhai paneer. I personally dont like too much dairy cream in the food, but here, the Dal Makhni has the right amount of cream and the taste is perfectly balanced. The Saag Adrak gave a homely feeling. The Saunfiani Tikka was dry to eat. Portion Size: The portion size is very good, we were a family of 5, and every curry on the table was enough for all us. Service: Service is top notch. Ambience: A fine dine in, classy. What I liked is that usually in restaurants, the music is too loud, lights are too dim, nothing of that sort here. You can talk without the noise of music bothering you. Rating: 5/5 A special shoutout to the floor manager Manjit and the bartender Harry for serving us the mocktails that they have aced in. This is a must must try.

This restaurant is a place for Indian food. Staff is well trained. I ordered Soya chaap, which was very soft and tasty. Paneer khada masala was also nice. However, there is a raw taste of chicken in Afghan murgh masala. Naan was well baked and Gulabjamun was also nice. not to mention, both were very soft. I definitely like to visit again (not for chicken dishes though). Overall I am satisfied with the service and food.
