My boyfriend and I went there as soon as they opened and I’m so happy that we did. We were the only ones there, which gave us a really nice chance to get to know the owner and listen to the many stories he wanted to share. The food is fresh and the service is unique. I truly love this place! I drive from Winnipeg just for the food!
My son doesn't normally like going to Chinese restaurants but for his birthday he wanted to go to Shanghai Lily Restaurant as it is his favorite as well as mine and my older son's. We spent 3 hours enjoying the fabulous food and the company of Y.C. If you want great home made food with no MSG, this is a must! All meat is fresh and bought locally, fabulous spicy sauce is homemade as well. The experience is like going to a friend's place with a great conversation with Y.C. if you want, if not, he will let you enjoy your time alone. You could not ask for a better host and his wife, who does all the cooking, is an absolutely wonderful chef!!! It is an absolute pleasure every time we visit! Give it a try! You won't regret it! I give it a 10 plus!!
Very very good food. Very fresh and very friendly. The best place for Chinese food in the city. Highly recommend. Everything is home made right when you order.

Great food, great conversation and great company. What more could you ask for? My favourite dishes are the steamed or BBQ pork buns and the kung pao chicken.
Don't expect a fancy atmosphere though (obviously) it's a restaurant built out of a quaint house downtown not a big chain business with it's entire space dedicated to the restaurant. I'm seeing these other reviews talking about it being dirty or the food being overcooked, all I can say is anytime I've been there the food has NEVER been over or under cooked and although it may be a little messy in the main living room/dining area it is certainly NOT dirty, the area specific to where customers eat has always been very tidy and clean.
This is now the only chinese food I will eat in Regina. It is expertly prepared, you can tell she loves to cook and they want you to be part of their extended family everytime you go there. Everything is fresh and of the highest of quality.
My mom and I came here yesterday for lunch. The food was delicious and so fresh! The family that owns this establishment really prides themselves on the customer service aspect. I really enjoyed talking to the owner and felt right at home. The chicken fried rice and BBQ pork buns were my favourite!
Small family owned Chinese restaurant in a house. Went during dinner time and was seated in one of the private rooms upstairs. Ordered things mostly from the dim sum menu. Everything is made from scratch and very fresh.
Pros: I highly recommend the steamed pork soup dumplings, the Chinese sponge cake, and the sesame red bean balls. Everything is hot and fresh.
Cons: Avoid the green onion pancakes and the hot and sour soup. If you sit in the private rooms don't expect to have great service, they pretty much just bring you your food and leave (which is understandable since they have to climb the stairs to bring food to you.) Also be ready to wait for at least an hour for your food to come.
This is my favourite Chinese restaurant in the city. I took my parents here to supper the other day, and, besides the whole meal taking about 2 hours, everything was wonderful. The wait was understandable though, as there were many customers and one cook. Great service, lovely atmosphere, and the food is delicious and very fresh. Highly recommended.

Have been twice, and plan to go many more times, its my new favorite place for chinese food. Went for dim sum and ordered soup dumplings, pork dumplings, green onion pancakes and sticky rice, all were so good and so fresh tasting.He also gave us a homemade spicy chili sauce for dipping, and it was so damn good we asked if we could possibly just take some home. went perfectly with the black vinegar. For supper, at a different time, ordered dumplings again, stuffed eggplant, lemon chicken and shanghai noodle. again, all impressive. the chicken was not greasy at all, it comes in smaller pieces with the homemade lemon sauce on the side. the noodles were awesome, and not oily. the stuffed eggplant was to die for seriously. know that in the evenings if they are busy with take out, your food will take longer, he may ask if that is ok before you even sit down. we were there for 2 hours, and it was so well worth the wait. you get treated like family, we visited with the owner, we chatted and drank tea, it was like being a guest in someone's house, or with family. i highly recommend for chinese food.
Definitely needs to be better organized but on the other hand the food is tasty. It is quite a small dining area and fills up quite easily.
