great, simple burger place! REAL hamburgers! this is an old fashioned burger place, so the patties are thinner, like they used to be made. they've been made the same since they first opened. they are NOTHING like the mcdonalds patties that are filled with gross plastic fillers that you can taste and no amount of seasoning will fix.
i personally like the plain bun, as anything fancier like brioche or sesame seed takes away from the taste of the burger and the toppings.
you have to ask for extra toppings like lettuce, tomato, pickles, banana peppers, fried onion, and it's no extra cost, which makes customizing easier.
i can make the same milkshake at home with the same fresh ingredients but on a road trip it's convenient to order!
the fries are nothing special probably because i've never had them real crispy from here, but i don't really like fries anyway. the onion rings are super crispy.
from my experiences at both restaurants, they both use the same ingredients and operate the same way. my order is always repeated back to me multiple times at the drive thru, and then once again when i arrive at the drive thru window which ensures that it'll be made right.

20180218. On our way back to Calgary, we were stopped by Peter’s Drive-in in the city of Red Deer for lunch. Peters Drive in is a Burger restaurant.The restaurant offers burgers, hot dogs, milkshakes, and etc, which is the same style fast food restaurant as KFC, McDonald, and A&W. It has two locations in Alberta. One is in the city of Calgary and another is in Red Deer. We’ve been to Calgary location before. This was our first time having lunch at Red Deer location. Besides the drive through, people could actually sit and eat inside the restaurant.
Environment:
We arrived the Red Deer Peter Drive in around 12 pm. It was right at the lunchtime. There was a huge lineup inside the restaurant. This location has very large space for people to eat in. Inside the restaurant, it was nice and clean. There are many tables for customers to sit down.
Service:
My boyfriend ordered the food at the front and I tried to find an empty table to sit down. The similar to KFC, McDonald, and A&W, customers ordered all the food and drinks at the front and waited for their food. The food menu is on the big screen on top of the front desk.
Food:
We ordered a burger, a hot dog, small fries, and milkshake to share. After waited for 5 – 10 mins, our food came out the kitchen. The burger was made from 100% whole Canadian grade “A” ground chuck and they do not contain fillers of any kind. The hamburger and hot dog buns were very fresh made with unique flavor made daily using the special recipe. I had cheese dogs, which was made with 100% beef wieners. The fries cooked in premium, cholesterol free, trans-fat free, 100% pure canola oil, with large portions. Milkshakes made with real ice cream and real fruit, which was very tasty.
Prices:
The prices of our food were OK. It’s not very expensive. Comparing to KFC, McDonald and A&W, this place is a little bit expensive. But, all the food were in the large portion and well cooked. They were all fresh and tasty.
Highly recommend this fast food place.
Delicious burgers. I just ate at In N' Out a few weeks ago and this was so much better. Great fries, great onion rings, and yummy milkshakes.
I go here for the milkshakes. My favorite is cherry licorice. Always get a fries to share which are huge. The staff were very nice, it was busy but that's not a surprise. Very glad Red Deer now has a Peters.
Great food and quality. Tons of staff working. Super friendly too! The quality is exactly like Calgary. Love it ! Definitely recommend stopping in the portions are great and the cheese burgers are delicious. Especially the special BBQ sauce they use.
The milkshakes are my favourite! I love the Marshmallow & Pineapple mixed together. I do wish they had different sizes. My daughter loves the Cherry Chocolate milkshake but a whole one it too much for her and I hate wasting it!
I haven't tried anything else from here so my rating is solely on the milkshakes.
Love Peter's milkshakes. They are fabulous made with milk and cream with real fruit with thirty flavored to choose from. Old school drive through burger restaurant. With fries and great onion rings! The burgers still come with 1&1/2 patties on them. Not the healthiest choice but a great treat and a favorite!
Peter’s Drive In (or more commonly known as Pete’s) is a staple institution in Calgary. Every time that I drive by, the place is slammed with people waiting patiently in their cars and outside in line to get their hands on a burger, fries or their infamous milkshakes. Their newest location recently opened in Gasoline Alley so we decided to check them out for lunch on a Friday.
I was told by so many that I have to try Peters' and I was not disappointed. The strawberry milkshake is the best I've ever had!! It's thick with just the perfect amount of sweetness. The chocolate shake is quite heavy but would be perfect for chocolate lovers. The cheese burger was alright. I didn't love the bun that much. Long wait but well worth it for that strawberry milkshake
Peter's is a classic. Long wait times but so worth the wait. People are coming from all over Alberta to try the new Red Deer Peters. Everything is super big so come hungry. Local staffers say this is a great place to work and I think that shows. Best burgers ever, will be going back for many years to come.
