Review Le Continental - Quebec City

Ramesh END-POLIO Ferris
A lovely place to have dinner, and watch a fire show. The staff were professional, attentive, and paid attention to details. The host ensured he not only checked in with us as we were leaving, but also shortly after our food was plated and served to the table, and then again once we were finished. Our table chef was great, he created some extra fire for my photos and video. The steak I had was perfectly cooked with a nice crusted outside, and tender and juicy on the inside. I didn't find this place pretentious at all, and staff were all very kind, and welcoming. Portion sizes for the steak, salad, and fish were all quite large so be prepared for a nice size meal. The ambience is wonderful and you can tell this place is rich with history. You will pay a nice price to eat hear, but there is something for everyone. It was fun to not only see the table side cooking at our own table, but also to see how others reacted to their own table side cooking. It's important to note the bathrooms are upstairs and there are some awkward angled steps to maneuver to access the top floor. Thanks to all the staff for the great food, and wonderful experience. We left Quebec with wonderful memories of this place, and would return when we're back in the area.

After a four day weekend trip to Quebec City we enjoyed our last dinner out at Le Continental Restaurant. We definitely saved the best for last. The food was extraordinary and the ambiance incredible. Alberto, our waiter was more than just a waiter. He was knowledgeable and entertaining. Table side service where your meal is created right before your eyes is something that everyone should experience at least once. Though this restaurant is a bit pricey, you definitely get what you pay for. Truly a 10/10!

I enjoyed our dinner immensely. Food was classical French, but with the theatre. We had a great server who was experienced and professional. We had a great night out. Maybe not for everyone, but we will certainly be back! Make the investment in your evening and enjoy the show and the food! Thanks for a great evening!

Our meal here was excellent, but the service was incredible! Our server Alberto not only cooked our steaks to perfection, but he entertained us with his charming personality as well as educating us on the history of French cuisine. The meal was a fabulous experience and our gratitude goes to Alberto for making the night a special one.

Excellent classic high end restaurant. Expensive but great food. Everything was perfect. Favorite dishes were the seared foie Gras, beef wellington , Caesar salad by your table side and various lobster dishes were great. We only wish we knew they also cooked steak by your table side and would have loved to try that. Great meal overall albeit very expensive. Surprisingly the cocktails were very reasonably priced relative to the price of the food.

Bow ties and white jackets for wait staff created an ambiance from another time. The filet mignons were going to be cooked with butter which would have been an allergy issue for my son. Luckily, I stopped that before the waiter started the fire show at our table even tho allergies were discussed ahead of time. Waiter seemed bored and stand offish with us but chatty with the other patrons in his section. My daughter pointed out that it could have been a language barrier. Overall, the meal was expensive but good.

Mr boyfriend and I decided to pay this restaurant a visit and made a reservation a week before. Lots of expectation prior to this visit since we were only spending one night in Quebec City. However, it was totally disappointing!! The server was impatient, and pushy (repeatedly pushed us to order within 5 minutes of sitting down even we weren’t finished reading the menu). Overall food quality Is okay but not worth the price at all! Read other reviews before you consider going there. Expect some attitudes if you don’t order what they suggest (at least that’s how we were treated). We were in and out of this traditional French cuisine within an hour. They just didn’t want to serve us. I wouldn’t pay my second visit and recommended anyone to try this place.

Exceptional, personalized service. Beautiful flavors, fresh ingredients, and engaging experience. If you just want to eat, go elsewhere. If you want to dine and enjoy the art of hospitality, you must visit Le Continental. The table side preparation and white jackets will transport you back to a time when people enjoyed good food, good wine, and conversation. The veal was succulent and flavorful; the lobster Newburgh was totally on point. Was honored to be served by such consummate professionals in such a classical romantic setting. One of the top 5 epicurean experiences of my life...and I eat a lot.

Outstanding! Our talented tableside chef/server Sebastian was fantastic. He guided us through every step of the preparation. The Caesar salad he made from scratch was incredible, and our entrees were magnificent. Definitely the best meal of our weeklong stay in Quebec - and we had some good ones!

I lived in Manhattan where arguably the best food can be eaten. This was the best meal I have had in my life!! I had the Dover sole as well as the filet mignon, the foie gras and the chocolate mousse. All were superb!!

My fiance and i came to this restaurant while visiting Quebec city after watching Anthony Bourdain's visit and it did not disappoint. The food was excellent. I had the veal ravioli as an entree and it was out of this world. The sirloin flambe was juicy and perfectly cooked, not to mention that it is the first time i see it cooked table side. It's an unique experience and probably the only restaurant that does this. The service was top if the line. All waiters extremely polite, helpful and friendly. I will most certaintly come back again!

Excellent service, fun waiter who engaged when we asked questions. Food was prepared well. Ambience very French (Québécois). Lovely garden. Entire staff definitely practice high quality service. Very interested in how guests feel about the food/presentation, but not in an overly hovering manner.

Amazing food, service and atmosphere!!!! Our waiter was so knowledgeable and gave us a great breakfast recommendation!!! Was our favorite meal in Canada!!!

An absolute must! A true rustic experience on Table-side flambe of select mains and dessert. It's the oldest restaurant in the city and they still make dishes the way they were made way back when. Be prepared to open your wallet though worth every penny!

The atmosphere and service are great...but when it comes to food...nothing impressive.. I was expecting dishes out of this world...but it is something very common..i feel that is more an American restaurant than french... The chef needs to re-vamp the menu.....

Tout était parfait - nourriture, ambiance et Michael, le jeune homme qui s'est occupé de nous était très professionnel tout en étant agréable. Une soirée au Continental est une aventure en soi.

We ate here as a large group last evening. The food, ambiance, service, and attention were all top notch. I'm still thinking about the crab appetizer and the flambé shrimp in whiskey entree... !

Merci!!!
