Happy has been our choice for Chinese food for years. We are always treated with courtesy. We have tried almost everything on the menu, and have our favorites like the squid with spicy salt or prawns with swirled egg that we order every time along with some different dishes. The restaurant is clean and the service attentive. If there is a long wait , we are told in advance. The food is ample, delicious and reasonably priced. I recommend it highly.
Happy is our "go to" for Chinese food. The portions are generous and the food is always excellent. We have tried over the years most of the food on the menu and have never really disliked any of the dishes that we have tried, but do have many favourites that we order from the menu on a regular basis. We are always greeted cordially when we arrive as we usually eat in, and are thanked for coming in when we leave. If they are very busy, we are warned ahead of time that the food will take longer to come. This is a favourite for many and they have many customers that order take out. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Happy Chinese Restaurant??. Happy is the last thing I feel when I've called or gone to this restaurant!! The lady at the front is extremely rude and must hate her job! I too have called to place an order and have been told that they are too busy? If you really want to be "un busy" then keep up the good work and soon no one will be ordering from you! PS change the name of your restaurant

Great Secret in North PoCo. We ordered take out from Happy Chinese in North Port Coquitlam for the first time tonight. I am picky about Chinese Food as I worked in Richmond for years ... I need flavour, no MSG and no grease.
Happy Chinese met my requirements!
The prices are quite reasonable. The service was quick. The portions were huge.
Will certainly go back again :)

First Timer ... Good Start!. Ordered two take out items. Pan fried beef with rice noodle (wet) and chicken and black bean sauce. The noodle dish was nicely prepared and cooked with tender beef, fresh vegetables, and sufficient sauce on soft noodles but unfortunately was somewhat bland in flavour, so soy sauce was definitely mandatory. The chicken in black bean sauce dish was unbelievable and likely the best I ever had. Extra large, juicy and tender white breast chicken fillets was something unexpected here. Sauce was very flavourful.
They do not use MSG in all of their dishes which is a plus. Will definitely order here in the future and try out several other dishes in order to form a better opinion overall.
First time there and I was impressed with how clean it was. I had a small bowl of wonton soup and ginger beef on rice. Beef was slightly tough but it was very tasty. All for $10. I will go back.
I am happy with Happy Chinese Restaurant!. Happiness indeed! Delicious dinner in the combination for 2! We had take-out with this dinner for 2 combination which included wonton soup, spring rolls, sweet and sour pork, beef with vegetables, chicken chow men, and even fortune cookies!
The wonton soup was the best we ever had! It had 3 wontons in it, broccoli, and meat. The spring rolls were crispy and yummy! The chicken chow mein was really outstanding; it had an incredible taste! The flavor combo was perfect, with the sweet and sour pork and the beef with vegetables.
So happy with this restaurant. Take out is recommended as it is not the most beautiful restaurant but it has great food!
Absolutely love this place we order from here almost once a week and have always had good food pretty healthy depending what you get and it's not greasy either and they don't use MSG which is a bonus as well
Finally!!... Omg im so happy that there is finally a really good chinese food restaurant in poco. Uhg i dont care for Sky dragon.. maybe one or 2 dishes but they're still super greasy. But move over!! cuz Happy chinese is the best! Dont be fooled like me about the outward appearance.. yah its not in the greatest looking little strip mall But its really good. My husband and i got take out 2 nights ago and cant get enough!

One of Tri-Cities Best Chinese Restaurants. Port Coquitlam's newest Chinese Restaurant is a hit! I have been here twice now for take-out, on a weeknight, an hour or so before closing. The food is great. Everything is fresh, and there's no msg, yet it tastes good! They serve pretty authentic style Chinese food - which I prefer. The portions are pretty generous too. They have a great deal on take-out. You get 10% off if you purchase $18.00 or more and pay by cash. Smaller discount if paid by credit card. I highly recommend the combos for 1, because you get a variety, and you'll have a hard time eating the whole thing in one sitting (large portion). I crave those combos every few days. lol The food is ready, packed, and handed to you in less than 5 minutes - Awesome!
Inside the restaurant, you'll find a new and clean establishment. This is rare amongst Chinese Restaurants. The staff/owner is nice and friendly - again pretty rare. The washrooms are clean - great and important sign! Once again - rare. Speaking of sign, check out the sign on the Men's washroom. lol.
This place is definitely the best Chinese food in Port Coquitlam, and probably Coquitlam too. I usually get my real Chinese food in East Vancouver or Burnaby - now I don't have to. Just as long as I get to Happy Chinese Restaurant before 10pm (closing time).
I'm surprised that this place isn't busier. Perhaps they don't advertise? I just found out about this place two weeks ago, from this website - thanks! People, trust me, I know Chinese food very well. It's my favorite cuisine. It's not easy to find really good Chinese food, at a decent value. I'm so glad to have a relatively inexpensive, great Chinese food place somewhat in the area. I hope they stick around, or not change owners, otherwise they'll be sadly missed. Give it a try - you won't be disappointed.
