I too would like to mention a Halibut and Chips night. With great anticipation the three of us headed out to Grill on the Green. General manager Jay Saltman had guaranteed an excellent dining experience and he could've bet the house on that. Right from being seated through to the last mouthful of the fantastic desserts made in house from scratch by chef extraordinaire Mr. Billy Snaychuk, the 90 minutes there was of the highest standard. You know you are being served food with passion when the chef comes out and explains in detail how he prepares and cooks your meal. Right down to articulating that the beer batter is very sensitive to certain conditions such as air temperature and is quite often moved to a part of the kitchen with the right temperature. Accompanying the generous portion of halibut were uniformly sliced fries that were perfectly crisp on the outside and flanked with a coleslaw that included the Mexican root vegetable jicama, sunflower seeds and Cran raisins on top of the usual shredded coleslaw ingredients and flavoured rice vinegar flavoured with mango and chipotle.
Not to diminish the importance of good service the hostesses and waiting staff were attentive, pleasant and fun to have around. Then came the desserts.
The Baileys Creme Brûlée was by Myra's standards outstanding but was not to be outdone as a chocolate mousse with a strawberry compote, key lime cheesecake and cherry cheesecake also graced the table and the morsels left in their bowls would not have satisfied a starving gnat.
This was without a doubt one of the most pleasant, tasteful and upbeat Friday dinner nights we have had here in Oceanside. Hats off to everyone for making it a place begging to be visited repeatedly by golfers and non golfers alike.
Second time at Grill on the Green for Halibut and Fries. Excellent food and service was excellent as well. The only thing they serveFriday'a is Halibut and Fries while in season. Best price in Parksville. You have to try it if you love Fish and chips.
Our group golfed here as part of a reunion in Parksville. We thoroughly enjoyed the course and appreciated the efforts of the staff to make us welcome. We would definitely play here again. Great course, people, and restaurant.
Great time at Morningstar this past Saturday. Top notch service during all interactions with staff and the course was in excellent condition despite the recent rains. Very much enjoyed the layout and truly excellent value for the price.
Greens were perfect. Every ball rolled true on all 18 greens. Whatever the maintenance staff are doing, don't change it. One thing that would greatly help junior and lady golfers is to cut the fairways 20 yards closer to the green tees. Green tee players are being unfairly punished for not having enough swing speed to get to the fairway. This would help pace of play as well.
I was having a tough front nine, but then I had a hot dog at the turn. It was one of the best golf course hotdogs I ever had, especially the warm, soft, fresh hotdog bun. I then proceeded to light up the back nine, shooting some of the best golf of my life. The only possible explanation for this turn of events was the fact that I ate that hotdog. Highly recommended. Five stars.
Beautiful 18 hole golf course that's well maintained and challenging to play for the average golfer. Good facilities with a pro shop, restaurant, driving range and putting greens. Phenomenal to ply at sunrise, as the name suggests. Many of the holes are lined with homes, so be careful when you're driving off the tee box as you may put a ball in someone's living room.
beautiful golf club! My friend was playing golf while I was heading for deers! haha, I saw 6 deers twice! They are the most attractive neighbour of Morning star!
