Freshly made tasty kebabs at reasonable prices (by Ottawa standards). It takes a while to come out, but well worth the wait.
Try the whole platter for big appetites or the cheaper kebab/naan/salad combo for smaller ones :)
Service is friendly and efficient, the room is clean/minimalist and overall, a great alternative in this shawarma-mad town !!
The Shami Kabob platter is the go-to meal here. Amazing rice, tasty beef, crisp salad, and whole wheat naan fresh out of the oven! This bustling restaurant operates cafeteria style and the friendly staff take pride in the food they serve.

Suggestion: please simplify your menu. It gets very confusing with the pictures. It should be easy to read.
Had a coworker pick this up for our group for lunch one day. I got their shami kebabs. The portion was quite a good size, and the flavour was okay. It could have used some sauce or something though.
However, I went back a few months ago to eat in with Kintamanate and I tried their chicken kebabs with salad, while he had lamb chops. It was a little slow, in terms of service, but they did warn us the lamb would take a while to cook. The chicken was quite juicy and delicious, and it was a great sized portion of salad.
I'd definitely recommend it if you're in the mood for some middle-eastern cuisine, but not necessarily shawarma.
Excellent food. Visited Salang Kabob House several times now, and happy with the food each time. I recommend the combo (shami, chicken, and beef kebabs plus your choice of qorma), and also chaplee kebabs which is a bit spicy.
It's one of the best restaurants in ottawa. The food is delicious and generous quantities. The food is always clean and fresh. I highly recommend it to anyone.

Kabobs like no other here in Ottawa!. I ate at Salang Kabob House a couple of weeks ago and I’ll be returning there with friends to taste excellent Afghan food. The place itself is the simplest setting: no plush chairs and white tablecloths here.
We order at the counter and are advised when our meal is ready. The magnet that brings one back for more is the abundant, wholesome, quality food. The owner, Mr. Nisar Abbasi will tell you: “My philosophy is the best whole food at the most reasonable prices.” – and that is what you get.
On the menu you will find a variety of spicy and non-spicy dishes, and they all include delicious Afghan naan, rice and salad. For people with celiac disease it’s a great place to eat. If you pass on the naan, most of the other choices are gluten –free.
So if you enjoy kabobs, you are in for a real treat at Salang Kabob House!
I'll be back!. Not a place to try and impress a date, but definitely eat here if you are looking for no frills food. Everything was fresh and delicious, and well priced! Portions are pretty big. The unusual thing about this place is that you have to pick up your own food at the counter, which I didn't mind at all.
The owner was super friendly and very talkative. He even gave us some Chicken Korma and chick peas on the house.
