Great location in the Ottawa Market, surrounded by the local market's vendors. Great place to grab a quick lunch, freshly made with Indian spices and fresh products. Traditional Indian cuisine. Love it!!

Wonderful taste & easy on the wallet!. Whenever we are on the Byward Market, my daughter and I make it a point to stop by Shafali for lunch. The owner of this small take-out stand is so friendly, you will feel immediately at home. And the food cannot be beat.
One of their best sellers is the Tikka Chicken sandwich and there's a good reason why it sells -- it has mildly spicy chicken, lettuce, tomatoes and tikka sauce, all wrapped up in a hot, fresh naan. They make the naan on-site and it will literally go from the oven to your order. There simply aren't enough words to communicate how wonderful this sandwich is, so you simply must try it.
But the sandwich isn't the only delicious menu item. I love their curry chickpeas, served on jasmine rice. And their Saag Paneer is fanastic as well.
The price is significantly less than eating in an Indian Restaurant, but it does not scrimp on quality or taste. If you are looking for an inexpensive lunch on the Market, Shafali would be my #1 recommendation.
Great food!. I love this place. The owners are really lovely people (as are all the staff) and their food is really delicious and fresh. I recommend the chicken tikka wrap. Mmmm.
Tea. Nice warm chai tea. They gave me a free one because he is a sweet faced gentleman and he has a soft spot for older ladies like me. Once a week, they say hello and I get my curry. They even make me extra crispy naan the way I like it. Keeps me warm inside. It's not really a restaurant. It's a fast deli. I used to see some of those CBC and CTV people. It's nice to see celebrities in the market court. I get what I ask for. A little less, a little more, hotter, colder, spicier, milder. Lots of choices. One nice sweet tangy chickpea dish I like too. Don't listen to me. Just try it.
By far one of my favourite restaurants, this place is a real gem. i guarantee the veggie samosas will be the best youve ever had in ottawa. i cant remember the name, but there was this beauuuuutiful soup that was not the dal soup, but something like mwuahakali haha. but it was AMAZING. i ordered a second...
the wraps are ecstatic too.

Great butter chicken wrap!. Love the chicken wrap and the lamb curry. The naan is also delicious. Very friendly, kind service. Love their salad dressing too. Would certainly recommend this place to anyone.
