Food was good, ( the wrap was tasty and a bit unique, though I noticed that the list of ingredients on the menu didn't match what was in the wrap (though I think what's actually in the wrap is better than the menu)), decent portions and the prices were average. The guy working was quite friendly, though he definitely took his time filling orders which on the one hand was a bit frustrating, but on the other, I like to think it correlated with more care and attention being put into our food. Bonus points for it's location, as it's next to a side street with available parking during rush hour and they deliver. Only "complaint" (though it's not really a bad thing), was that the decor could be improved or at least tidied a bit.

After a long day at work I find myself starving! I need something healthy.. I say to myself, but where do I get something healthy at 10:15pm

so, like most of you I pull out my iPhone and use urbanspoon and start going through the list of places that have healthy food.. All closed. Then I see this place and its a bit of a trek from me, but again I'm starving so why not?!

They answer and after a brief explanation of my hunger he says we're closed, but give me 10 min and I'll put something together for you..

I get there in 10 min, they unlock the door and let me in.. Very pleasant and greeting people by the way..

They put together a trio with 3 meats, potatoes, salad, rice, bread and probably the tastiest hot sauce I've ever had all for 20$

I get home and eat all of it and before I can digest, I'm writing you my experience with this place.. Not only because they opened for me, but because it was truly unbelievable food!

Eat here, you won't regret doing so.. Best middle eastern food in Ottawa I've ever had.

Highly recommended,. I tried their "sultani" & it was really good. The meat was juicy & tender, while the spices were mild, yet flavourful.

The only place in all of Montreal and ottawa this place is just outstanding. I have travelled all the way From Montreal to ottawa 50% for this restaurant. I went there in the late morning and loved it so much so that I waited till 9:30 pm at night to go eat before heading back to Montreal. I know my food if it tastes good and looks good I won't stop going not even the price matters at that point. Enjoy!!!

Too original for its own good. This isn't any ordinary Arab restaurant I thought I would get like a Shawarma place, it's much better. The staff were a lot friendlier than the typical ones, the cashier described to me some of the foods I wanted to get and she didn't seem pushy or impatience, even with a sudden line up behind me. I ordered a mantoo (seasoned beef dumpling) and a Chicken Shami, wanted to try a Doogh (yoghurt drink), but they were all out of it - so sad, I heard great things about that drink!
Anyway the food was prepared in front of me, rather quickly than the average and in a different too. I would assume the Chicken Shami would be like a typical Chicken Shawarma, but they didn't have a spit at all. I think the meat is all pre made, they simply grilled it, wrapped it in the typical pita with lettuce and tomato and then warmed it up by rolling in on the grill. I have never tried a mantoo before eating here, but from knowing how to cook chinese dumplings, I suspect that these were not freshly made. But despite all of these, the Chicken Shami was very delicious and surprisingly unique flavour, the mantoo
s sauce was a nice flavour that didn't overwhelmed the dumpling but enhance it. If you have enough money to spare (it's fairly expensive than a shawarma place) then you should try this one. But you should go for the combos than the authentic one I ordered, like a Lamb skank (seasoned lamb, with different kind of rice and a plain salad with fresh nann) or the regular beef or chicken.

Better than expected!. This place replaced a Shawarma shop and is a welcome addition to street dotted with one too many of them. I finally had a chance to try it out recently after walking by many times. I expected something similar to other Middle Eastern fare, but I pleasantly discovered I was wrong.

First off, the quality of the food and cuts of meat are by far superior. We ordered the Lamb kabob and Chicken kabob plates with an order of the potato and green onion Boolani. The food was prepared in front us as we waited. The plates came with a fragrant spicy rice and simple salad. I really liked the rice. I’m not sure what the spice was that they used, but it really made more than just a plain side. The salad was fresh and had nice garlic dressing, which tasted homemade. Both meats were tender and succulent with the right amount of heat. I found the Afghan naan a little dry, but maybe that’s how it supposed to be. There was a side of something that reminded me of fresh made salsa. We debated whether it was for dipping the meat or the naan. We agreed to disagree, but one thing we could agree on was that it a nice sauce. The Boolani was something that neither of us had tried, but we were glad we did. It reminded me of a quesadilla, but better. It was served warm and slightly toasted with a creamy dipping sauce. Portions are generous as we took home leftovers. I found the naan tasted better when I had it later with dinner. The price plates are comparable to your regular Shawarma platter or Souvlaki.

The place was quiet when we were there and it was enjoyable being able to converse. No blaring TVs or sound systems. The place was very clean which is bonus if you’ve ever eaten in some places on downtown Bank St. It is decorated with touches of Afghani art and pictures. It won’t win awards for the colour scheme, but that is also not unusual for downtown Bank St. It’s a great place for a casual meal or takeout. Service was friendly and attentive. You order at the cash and they bring the food, cutlery and drinks right to your table. They have their own version of a Shawarma which is called a Shami which I think I’ll try on my next visit.

Two platters, the Boolani, and two soft drinks came to about $43 with a small tip.

Tasty and good quality. I've been several times and always enjoyed the food here. My favourite is the tandoori kebab. Service is attentive and relatively fast, depending on when you go.

Don't pass it off as yet another shawarma joint. On the outset, it could be confused as yet another shawarma place in Ottawa. It is not. Their chicken shami is light and delicious. The ingredients are fresh. The dumplings (mantoon) are quite nice. The potatoes I had were very good. Good menu. Care is applied to both quality and presentation. The staff are courteous.

Great New Addition to Centretown. Tried this restaurant for the first time this week and was more than pleasantly surprised.

Don't be fooled thinking this is another one of Centretown's numerous shawarma joints - it's not. The food is excellent, the ingredients are high-quality, and there is great attention put into the food.

The prices are reasonable - a sandwich runs under $10 and most of the platters are between $10-13. For what you're getting, this is excellent value. I had a platter that included two kabobs, rice, and a salad, and all were delicious. Even the rice was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The kabobs were tender, pleasantly spiced, and accompanied with a nice sauce that tasted like it was made with fresh ingredients. All around a great meal.

If this place can continue to maintain the high quality of the foods that they're serving, this will undoubtedly be a Centretown hit. To the owners: keep doing what you're doing. The high quality of your food is what will keep people coming back. I would recommend this restaurant and will certainly be going back.
