Please note this review is based on their pork eggs rolls only. My sister's co-worker overheard that we were heading up to Ottawa and begged us to pick her up some egg rolls from Golden Palace. When we got there we were confused about what she wanted and they patiently waited for us to get in contact with her to clarify. There was a lot of back and forth with her because they only offer their pork egg rolls in the pre-cooked, travel-friendly form since it is their most popular type. I cannot stress enough how patient they were.The ordering process is super efficient and done through tablets. Similarly, the wait time is minimal because they're well-prepared. Yes, their egg rolls cost a bit more than the typical eatery, but they're also generous with their filling and sauce. Very likely we'll return the next time we're in town.

Summer is long over, but it’s never too late to reminisce on memorable eats. With family in Ottawa, I normally make a trip a few times a year. A trip to Canada’s capital is not complete without a visit to my uncle’s restaurant, Pho Bac Oriental cuisine, and my friend’s restaurant in Kanata, Authentic Vietnamese Pho House.
Love this place and have since I was a child. It's a staple in Ottawa for Chinese food! A little expensive but worth it! They have the best egg rolls in Ottawa hands down!

An Ottawa Institution. I have been going to Golden Palace since I was 4 years old which, without going into specifics, is a really, really long time. When I was a small child, I thought the ceiling was the most beautiful, exotic ceiling I had ever seen. I'm an adult now, but I still enjoy the imported tiles, which provide a fun ambiance to the restaurant. Some of the wait staff have been with this establishment for decades.
You cannot go to Golden Palace and not get the egg rolls. They are the best egg rolls in the city and they are famous for them. They are meaty, with charred ends that are DELICIOUS! They make their own plum sauce which has pumpkin in it and it is also DELICOUS! Once you try these egg rolls, you will be hooked. I am lucky to have the same birthday as Golden Palace (April 12th) and every year, on "our" birthday, the egg rolls are 1/2 price for the first 5,000 served. I like to believe they do it for me.
If you are looking for North American Chinese food, you will find it here. This is not an authentic Chinese restaurant, so don't expect authentic Cantonese or Szechuan dishes. They have the standard fair of chicken balls, chop suey and butterfly shrimp. My daughter's favourite dish is the BBQ chicken balls. My favourite is the Golden Palace Chow Mein. Be warned that they use MSG in their food.
Also be warned that if you have mobility issues, the bathrooms are located downstairs and there doesn't appear to be an elevator. The bathrooms are very clean.
Takeout is available and we always bring home some egg rolls when we visit. You will do the same once you've tried them!
Legendary Eggrolls. Eggrolls from the Golden Palace cannot be beaten. Crisp and delicious, they have remained the same for countless years. A trip to Ottawa isn't complete without a stop at the Golden Palace for a dozen or so.

They've still got it, only a bit less so. Over the years the waiters here -- who remain ageless by some unknown wizardry -- have grown more abrupt and less solicitous, while the prices have steadily increased due to Golden Palace's fame. I still adore their sweet, fatty, Canadianized renditions of Chinese dishes; I'll admit that I'm not partial to the chicken feet and beef tripe components of Asian cuisine, and Golden Palace caters to the Canadian palate. Plus the legendary eggrolls, which are still unbeatable. Try the pineapple chicken balls for a change from the usual sweet and sour, I promise you won't be disappointed. As other reviewers have pointed out, they have few vegetarian dishes. And by few, I mean ONE.
