Best hole in the wall in Ottawa - had its name sake dish and it was phenomenal. I'm still full and already craving to go back.
Best Indian take-out you can find in Ottawa. Hands down. The staff are always really kind, the portions are generous, and the food is so delicious!
The service was authentic and honest with a smile. Great pricing. Had the Khotu rotti. Big portion. Had a lassi juice on the side to counter the awesome spiciness. If you like it hot, tell them to make it spicy. Best rotti I've had in Ottawa so far. Tucked away around the corner from Rideau. I'll go again.
This is the closest I could find for an authentic south Indian cuisine in Ottawa .The food was good and the people were good too.This is more of like a takeout place though they have a few tables. I would go back again in the future m
This place is amazing! I love the intense Sri Lankan flavours. The curry combo is a steal - you get 2 meat curries + 3 vegetable curries for ~$10. I shared a butter chicken poutine as well with a friend, and it was a LOT Of food, but it was so good I couldn't stop eating. The service is super friendly, they didn't even take tip when I offered, despite giving me an extra 4th vegetable curry just to try it. I'm definitely returning for more!
If you are hungry and want some delicious food at less price this is the place. The thali and kothu roti/ kothu parota as we call is delicious and hot. Went to this place looking at the reviews and its definitely a good place to eat.
Very large serving sizes. For the mixed curry combo, it was enough to feed two people for around $11. Extremely friendly staff and great service. I really enjoy this place.
Very excited to have Kothu Rotti in the Byward Market. Finally got out to pick up some take out - devilled King fish and (of course) a kothu rotti.... How can you not love the intense flavours of a Sri Lankan meal? Crazily fast service (ready in 15 minutes). The devilled fish was borderline too hot, makes you sweat - but worth it! My only complaint about the kothu rotti was that is was a bit dry and the rotti a bit too chewy - but a huge serving / great value - will be eating for a few more meals. Looking forward to sampling more on the menu - great meal!
The best 'fast food' in Ottawa. This little restaurant has very limited seating but if you are looking for a 'healthy' flavour-ridden hot meal, at a bargain its unbeatable! Having been to Sri Lanka its reminiscent of 'hole in the wall' establishments there that quickly politely and efficiently serve you delicious 'fast food'. The flavor is spot on and I don't just throw that compliment around. Just like Ceylonta they pair hot, with creamy and balance the plate in their 'buffet-style" Thali. (Thali = rice + 3-5 curries). The Dosai looks magnificent as does the kothu roti. For a lighter meal try the string hoppers.
This is authentic South Indian/Sri Lankan Food. This is the best Indian take out in Ottawa. When I first walked in I could immediately tell that they use authentic ingredients because of the pungent smell of (REAL) spices, the store might as well have been somewhere in Sri Lanka, Kerala or Tamil Nadu. I would highly recommend this place! Next time you're out, pay the $10 for some awesome chicken biryani rather than going for $14 overrated Shawarma. Another staple in South Indian take out is the masala dosa (which Sri Lankans call masala dosai). I'd go for that too.
Good Kothu for the price. Would be even happier if it had some more leeks and carrots in it but that's just a personal preference. Thrilled to see this in Ottawa. Check it out.

I lived in Sri Lanka and was craving kottu and found this place. The vegetable kottu was extremely delicious and brought back good memories. Will be back to try the string hoppers next!
Amazing Sri Lankan (South Indian) Fast food place. Vegetarian Kothurotti a must try. Also recommend thier Thalis, Samosas and Vadas

I was so happy to find this place years ago. One of the only Sri Lankan food places in Ottawa, the other one being Ceylonta on Bank and from what I understand the present owner of Kothu was a cook there?? The first year I was a frequent regular, indulging in their vegetable Kut Rotti. The owner/cook made it to perfection, to my liking. He was always generous with his portions and gave me a complimentary coconut chutney on the side which was a small gesture that kept me coming back! He was always happy and smiling! Now, years later I can see how tired and worn out he is. He has no more smile on his face, the portions are still bigger than standard but less than his usual, the complimentary chutney is gone ( his wife made sure he charges me) and the perfect kut rotti is now imperfect. My last few trips there were disappointing, rotti was cold . He re cooked it in front of me but rushed through it. The time prior to that, something in the dish ( rotti or some of the pre made curried vegetable he added in) was tasting moldy and sour! Clearly I can see that this poor man is working himself to death and although I love his food I'm actually at the point that I feel so uncomfortable making him cook my order since he looks so tired and burned out. There is no doubt about it that the food is delicious but the owner/cook looks like he can use a holiday. There are only a few chairs to sit down and the place is always hot like an oven but somehow that never seems to bother me. I only hope the quality of his food doesn't go down.
The couple that runs this place are so cute and so smiley and friendly. They bring the experience of 20 years old in the restaurant in Italy before they came to Canada on the up and up in five years. Food was very fresh and tasty and I would come back here for a quick lunch anytime.
