Great little middle-eastern style bakery! Best place in the city for baklava, maamoul and many other traditional delights (don't even know all the names but it's all good). They also have trays of 'broken' baklava for 3 bucks (or, 2 trays for a fiver) .... an unbelievable bargain. Have not (yet) tried their 'western' items like cakes and tarts.
So far everything has been good and the ladies who work the cash are nice and efficient. Highly recommended.
PS- Good thing I don't live close enough to indulge too much :)
Best baklava in the city. Whenever my family and I go out for supper we go here for dessert. There are so many little cookies, pastries and cakes for you to choose from you'll end up leaving with alot of delicious treats.
My absolute favorite pastry shop in the city! You walk in and it feels like the Chocolate Factory but for all types of pastry! Their baklava is absolutely delicious and made from honey, their small cakes look gorgeous and the whipped cream of their cakes is always fresh and delicious! The only place where I would get birthday cakes for my loved ones. I also really appreciate that they don't overdo the sweetness of their pastry. It tastes just right!
A must-try!. Absolutely a great place to stop in for Lebanese pastries. Their offerings include numerous "user friendly" cookies and pastries, for those less familiar with Lebanese cuisine. They also have a huge variety of Lebanese delights, which I've been trying to slowly sample one at a time; some are a little exotic for my Ottawa palate, but this is to be expected.
Their strawberry custard tarts are particularly tasty. My only minor complaint is that some of the prepared pastries (especially their mini-cakes) have a bit of an "edible oil" taste to them, sort of like what you'd get at a grocery store bakery; happily, this seems to be the exception rather than the rule. Also, they have an awesome deal where you can buy a huge stack of "broken" baklava (the deliciousness is NOT broken) for like $3. Solid. Baklava. Deal.
As a final bonus, the service is generally very friendly, and on several occasions they've been kind enough to give me a free sample while I'm being served!
Brilliant solution to "what do we serve the guests for dessert?". I confess - when I don't feel like making a dessert for a dinner party, I head over to La Brioche, select an assortment of their yummy honeyed pastries, pay a ridiculously small amount for them, then get ready for satisfied smiles all round the dinner table.
If God had wanted us to make dessert, he wouldn't have given us bakeries. ;)
DELICIOUS. Great food for a great price. Their baklava is so tasty and flavourful. The service has been decent the last few times I've gone and I've eaten in the restaurant once. I usually get my sweets and leave since the tables aren't that nice to sit at and the atmosphere isn't the greatest. I don't really mind though, since I can get such a great deal for the baklava. Their selection is the best I've found in Ottawa and their prices are amazing. I love coming here! :)
One of the bests confectionaries in the town! The sweets and desserts has great qualities, and store has friendly staff! I usually come to this store at weekend to buy for my guests and normally order Kunafa sandwiches to go and baklava. I also recommend rolls and cheesecakes! First time, I wasn’t sure what to order but employees were kind enough to offer me sample tastes and that made my decision a lot easier. Now, this is a place that I often visit when I am in downtown area and not regret each time I order!
They had a cheesy basbousa which was warm and very nice. There were 2 people working there and a steady stream of customers, so note that you need to wipe your own table unless you want to try asking. Best if you plan for take-out or don’t mind wiping crumbs off the table yourself.
Lots of delicious desserts to choose from. They have baklava, macarons, Swiss rolls, cannoli, opera cake, cookies, and many full-sized cakes. I only wish that there was a nicer seating area. Currently it’s one table pushed up against a window.
Visited ottawa for the tulip festival to celebrate an anniversary. Dropped in this shop for something sweet. Amazing service and delicious baklava for a good price. Highly recommend. Will visit next time we’re back here.
I have been coming here well over a decade. The service and the quality of food has not changed a bit. Their birthday cakes are my personal favorite in town, and they never sell if food isn't fresh. I've yet to be disappointed. Looking forward to many more years of good service!
Happened to walk by and saw an amazing spread of Lebanese desserts. I've always wanted to try kanafeh and I was so excited to see a fresh batch out mid afternoon on Saturday. It's sold by weight and they can heat it up for you and add extra syrup, if desired.
Flavour was amazing. Savoury from the cheese, and a crumbly cake like topping that gave it great texture. We skipped the extra syrup and it was perfect sweetness for us.
Service was fast and friendly. Can't wait to try more of their goodies!
Ordered my daughter's birthday cake from La Brioche, and am very pleased with the result! Quality of the cake is very good, and it is quite tasty! The decoration is clean and tasteful. Price point is right on with what you would expect to pay. The service is friendly, and with a smile. Not to mention, the quick turnaround (2 days) was greatly appreciated!
I bought a couple of desserts - slice of chocolate cheese cake and a mini layered cake. Both were really good. They are open on Mondays too (it seems that many places in this area are not open Mondays).
