My go to dim sum place.. :) love it! Its very active on Sundays so if your heading with the family, drop them off at the door and then park the car, by the time you get upstairs to your family you will be seated. Family business.

I work as a Skip The Dishes driver and I often visited Oriental Chu Shing to pick up orders. When my friend Lyndsay Ana came to visit from Kelowna I asked her if she wanted Chinese and she readily agreed to go as she loves that cuisine. We walked to Chinatown to eat at OCS.

OCS is real Chinese food and far from the stuff you'll find at Mandarin. We had some Dim Sum consisting of Shrimp Dumplings, the eggplant and something else. I thought the Dim Sum was great and I wish I had tried this years ago. The Vegetable Spring Rolls were disappointing. They tasted like something out of a box. The Chicken and Mixed Vegetable Fried Noodles were very good. Huge portion. L.A. had the Diced Chicken with the Cashews and Vegetables and they were very good as well. Nicely spiced. I didn't like the chopsticks, though. I found them difficult to use compared to the wooden ones they give you at The Japanese Village. The porcelain touch doesn't make it easy to grab the food.

The restaurant is spacious and very clean and you can use the elevator to reach it if you don't want to use the stairs. Service is excellent, as well. I doubt this is the best authentic Chinese restaurant in the city but it's still quite good. However, it opened my eyes that I haven't eaten real Chinese in my entire life and I'm definitely going to try the other restaurants on Somerset in the coming months.

We ordered an assortment of class dim sum dishes like preserved thousand year old egg congee, beef rice noodles (cheung fun), siu mai (pork dumplings), ha gow (shrimp dumplings), chicken feet, black bean spare ribs, spring rolls, jin diu, and also a platter of BBQ pork, and tofu flower at the end. I loved all of the dim sum!! It was so classic in taste and portion. It was definitely comfort food in the best way seeing as the dim sum was served in trolleys too.

Excellent for dim sum. Always busy but sufficient staff to ensure you don't wait long for plates to come around.

Food is fresh, with more to order from the back if you know what you are looking for.

Worth the visit to Chinatown.

My friend and I discovered Oriental Chu Shing while at a conference. Yes, it took a while to get our food, but it was worth it. The spicy cabbage dish on the Shanghai menu is amazing -- hot, crunchy, and salty. The vegetable fried noodles were a terrific accompaniment.

Will definitely head back when I am in Ottawa again.

My husband and I have been living in Centretown for over a year and still did not have a go-to Chinese take-out place, much to my chagrin. We had a hankering for Chinese a few weeks back and, after careful reviewing reading, selected Oriental Chu Shing to try.

On this particular night, we were feeling more Chinese-Canadian picks - Spring Rolls, General Tao's Chicken, Soy Sauce & Bean Sprout Fried Noodles, and Chicken Fried Rice. Each dish was far beyond satisfactory - full of flavor, and the portions were HUGE! This was one of my favorite aspects of our experience at OCS - we really felt that we were getting our money's worth, which can't be said for every Asian joint in the city.

I'm looking forward to finding out how they fare on more traditionally Chinese recipes - there's a Yu Shang Shredded Chicken in Spicy Sauce with my name on it!

Ordered food here for a late tonight dinner (take out). Service was quick and friendly, only took about 10min for 2 orders. Beef with lily flowers and ear mushrooms are to die for. Very tender and cooked perfectly. Great dinner if you're lazy to eat.

Decent dim sum selection, and push cart experience. Prices are fair. It reminds me of the dim sum back home.

Favourites were beef tendon, shrimp dumplings, and beef balls. All positively yummy.

Went there for Dimsum with a large group of people about 2 years ago, after it had been recommended to me by multiple people. I was impressed with the selection and frequency of food rotating compared to other dimsum places I had been to in the past. Everything I tried was pretty tasty though. I would definitely head back here again.

Came here for Father's Day dim sum with the family and we were decently surprised by the quality of dum sum. It was a busy day so selection of food was great and we were seated right next to the kitchen so we had hit food every time. Overall was a pleasant dining experience. Favourite dishes include, shrimp rolls, shrimp had Gow, beef ribs, calamari, and the egg tarts were delish! For a table of 7, bill came to $140 before tip- not bad...

A variety of interesting dishes. Chu Shing is a scaled down version of its neighbour Yangtze across the street. Although the decor and table set up is similar, it doesn't have as much of a classy vibe. However, regarding just the food - it's delicious. For the regular dinner menu (haven't tried Dim Sum though) - it's a pretty good selection of interesting dishes (sweet tofu dessert, fried rice w/ tomato and cream sauce, wrap with duck skin... etc) that I haven't really seen at other places. The staff were friendly on my last visit and the food comes quickly. My only complaint is that the menu itself smells like old paper and I noticed some of the dishes weren't properly cleaned. But as I said, food is delicious.

Delicious. Ordered take out and everything was tasty, hot and great. No complaints. The photos don't do it justice. Can't wait to order again.

Food Servings are great for large groups. We tried the fish soup with foam( taste like pork rind in a soup). Don’t get me wrong, it was good! Feeling nostalgic with the siomai dipped in soy sauce and the roasted pork belly,.the beef broccoli was tender and not too salty, the pork was tangy with the right amount of Sugar and acid.

Chu Shing is a decent stop for dim sum. Across the street from Yangtze Restaurant, it offers a wide selection of small dim sum dishes, both on roll-by carts and the menu if you don't see something you like. Service can be mixed, so don't hesitate to flag down servers. Mango pudding is a favourite, but go for the tripe if you are feeling adventurous!

One of the oldest establishment in Ottawa Chinatown. Prices were reasonable and affordable. No reservations required. The food and portions were good and tasty. The entire restaurant is a bit worn. It has seen its better days of its glory. It needs some TLC to bring her back to its glorious days. Especially the competitions were only at the doorstep. No build in parking structure. Parking on city street or nearby paid parking lot adjacent to the restaurant. There's ample handicap paid parking spaces for clients available. Located in the front entrance of Ottawa Chinatown. Despite all, this place is still a must go for serious Dim Sum & tea in Ottawa. Supper meals were good and reasonably priced too.

Absolute amazing experience. I've been going there for years and the manager and servers are all so friendly. Food is great and the prices are better than any other dim sum I've been to in Ottawa. Great service and the best tasting dim sum in Ottawa!
