I love this place, love the food, staff always great and food never took long to come. I will recommend to anyone who want to try jamaican food.
They know fresh and flavourful food! From their jerk chicken to BBQ ribs, salads to dessert, it's all great. Friendly, courteous staff.
I highly recommend this hidden gem.
Finding a reliable roti fix has been a challenge over the last 17 years in Ottawa; my search is over! I can recount horror stories about ordering goat roti at many restaurants in Ottawa and thankfully none of these stories compare to our experience at Lil' Negril. The curried goat was tender, 'near-melt-in-your-mouth' delicious. My daughther loved her ribs (and had a hard time answering the dreaded question, "Which ribs were better, Lil' Negril's or gram's?" She betrayed neither her grandmother nor the fine dish she and brother ordered). When I asked my son what he thought of his ribs, he responded "More than awesome!" (Keep in mind that my son answers "Good," to almost any question I ask him these days: ("How was your day?" "Good."; "How did you like the movie?" "It was good."; "How did you think you played [in your soccer game] today?" "Good."; "How did you do on the test?" "Good." [You get the picture]). Suffice it to say that our party of four enjoyed every dish: salt fish, like home; roti, like home; curried goat, like home. Lil' Negril is the real deal; we home.
I've eaten at Lil' Negril as a dine in and take out experience - they exceeded our expectations every time! The seasoning is just right, the portion sizes are not overwhelming and it truly captures the real Jamaica cuisine. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone that would like to capture the true culture from the island of Jamaica.
Friendly and Delicious. I bought a groupon for this place awhile back and we finally checked it out last week. We went around 7pm on a Thursday and we were the only ones in the restaurant the whole time. We were greeted pleasantly and our server was very helpful and friendly. We ordered the avocado dip (guacamole) to start which was awesome, we scraped the bowl. For mains we ordered the jerk chicken and chicken fricasee. both were delcious! The only complaint would be that although they gave us decent size chicken pieces, they are bone in, so the actual amount of meat is a little less, so if you were paying the full price of 14$ a meal, you may still be a little hungry. The plantain chips we got on the side were awesome! and the mango slaw was great too. For dessert the special of the day was orange cake which was warm, simple, and a great way to end the meal. Overall, very tasty and welcoming, I encourage you to try it out! Also noticed they do breakfasts specials on the weekend for 5$. Will definitely be back to try that out!
I was passing through Centerpointe rd in tw wet end of ottawa goin to city of ottawa when I seen this small restaurant in a plaza (lil Negril ) , so I figured it wouldn't hurt to try it out seein that I wus starving . I got it and it wus a cozy lil atmosphere with great staff that welcomed me as if I was a regular so I wus recommended to eat the chicken fricassee , and I must say it wus amazing chicken wus cooked well and there was an amazing mango slaw tht went well wit the whole meal I must say I am surly going to be going back and it I a must try .
I had a sunset drink, plantin and fish appetizer and goat roti. It is a very friendly and warm place. I ordered my food spicy and it's not crazy spicy so I would suggest go for it for the taste. It's like medium spicy. Almost everything is made in house and it was very tasty. Goat meat was well seasoned and well cooked and the bread was made right there, it was still warm. And they make their own sauce for the salad that comes with the dish.
Really, really good food, super nice people, prices can feel a bit high compared to other locations (that's why I gave 4 stars). Busy, busy place at least whenever I go.. but it is worth it.. great people and great food.. give them a try and you won't regret it.
Great food tailored to how you want it. Decent price. My all time favorite "The Amazing Grill Salmon with the tropical vegetable with mangoe". This is a must try
Very tasty as usual. The ambiance was great. Dining out again is a blessing. I recommend this restaurant for real authentic Jamaican cuisine
Awesome Roti dinner with a coconut pineapple cheesecake finish - highly recommend
If you're looking for a different place that is clean, friendly, and delicious you've come to the right place.
Located in a small plaza this place is a hidden gem. The décor is neat and not over the top
We came on a Wednesday during the Christmas/New Years holidays so it wasn't busy.
Ordered the jerk chicken, jerk beef, and ribs. Nothing felt spicy. It was more like a sweet BBQ flavour. Here's the breakdown:
Chicken -- moist and tasty
Ribs -- fall off the bone
Pork -- tasty, but a little dry
The side order of rice was a little dry, and the lettuce wasn't fresh (-0.5 stars). Ordered the lunch size dishes, to be able to try several plates, but the portions were smaller than expected (-0.5 stars).
Overall it was pretty good and I would definitely come back again.
