We had the lobster tail last night! It was amazing! I love this place! The service is second to none! The hostess and our waiter treated us great! I always make it a point to eat here when I'm in Ottawa!
Absolutely delicious as always! The steaks are always cooked to perfection! The sautéed mushrooms are a must. The sweet potato fries are amazing! My favourite place to eat. Albert Street is the best location! The staff is amazing and always polite and courteous. Parking is free! Worth the wait time
I have been to this chain about 5 times. A good friend in Ottawa turned me onto the ribs on a business trip last year. I like to try and stop in whenever I am in town.
So tonight I arrived in the city with my family. For once I am in town for pleasure, not business. I was excited to share BR with them. It is not something we have in the USA. My kids were pumped for ‘The best ribs in Ontario.’ as I was advertising for our 7 hour car ride from NH.
We arrived at the location on Albert St around 7PM. We needed a table for 6. The hostess said that we could have a table, but had to be done by 9:30. I think initially I was confused at first and thought she said we could have a table AT 9:30. So, excited we did not have to wait after all we took the table.
As we sat there our server approached the table right away. The first thing she wanted to verify with us was the fact that we had ‘under 2 hours’ because we had to leave at 9:30. She seemed annoyed with our presence. She suggested we ordered our daughters meal early because kids take longer to eat. Ok. It was a good suggestion. But because of everything leading up to it we felt rushed and unwelcome. When two members of our party were a few minutes late I started to get anxiety about our deadline. That is when I started to get really annoyed. I asked for a table where we would not have to be on the clock.....
I am not sure why we had to go through all of this. I am writing this as a 5 star review for 2 reasons. 1) The food is great. 2) We were lucky enough to have the owner in the house. He came to our table and apologized for the mix up. It was very sincere. He said we could keep the table we were at, and had no deadline. He then came back later and comped our meal $50. It was a nice gesture.
We ended up having a very nice dinner as I am accustomed to when visiting BR. Still confused on what happened initially tonight. But they saved it.
Give this place a try if you haven’t yet. And if you do not order the ribs.....you’re doing it wrong.
