Wow, wow, wow! What a great Burger & fries! Spoke briefly with Rick and he stated that the beef used was regular ground so the burger had flavour. Well it did.
Wonderful crisp fries that are soft on the inside and don't go hard on the plate before you can eat them.
Cheese, bacon, onions, mustard and tomatoe topped this great burger. Maybe the best burger I have had in Canada...
Thanks Rick!
This place rocks! I come here frequently and have tried most of the menu and have yet to Dissapointed! I really love the Wednesday special: the pulled pork grilled cheese (its the bomb) and the fries are on point. Not only is the food awesome, but so is the staff. A solid 5 star.
Team Lunch. We visited Ricks Cookhouse today with the kids hockey team, while in Newmarket for a tournament. I was nervous when we arrived given their size, but we all fit in and the staff bent over backwards to make us comfortable and accommodate us. We had a diverse group, and I think between the 25 of us we tried just about everything on the menu, and there were no complaints from anyone! Fantastic brisket (my choice) and great reviews on the pulled pork too. Often a bit sloppy elsewhere, Ricks was the perfect blend of moist and not messy. Wings, fries, burgers, all done to perfection, for very reasonable prices. Really thankful we decided to try this place, only wish we weren't from Ottawa as we'd be back to visit many, many more times.
"YOU GOTTA EAT HERE". These guys have perfected the "fall of the bone" rib. Really flavourful and meaty without being insanely saucy. Even though I am a massive fan of the sauce, I appreciate that they let the sauce take second place to the meat. I have no idea what they do to those fries, but I get them with every meal - they're delicious! The brisket and pulled pork is juicy and jam packed with that smokey flavour you love. I haven't tried the wings yet, but heard they have a Monday wing night special, so I'll have to check that out.
I've been to Rick's many times and have yet to be disappointed (and ALWAYS left full). I'd recommend this BBQ joint to new and well experienced BBQ lovers. This place is BEST IN TOWN. Keep it up boys!
The food is pretty good. Comparable with most good barbecue places in the GTA.
Definitely a tier below Adamson's barbecue - like all other barbecue places in the GTA.
Starting with the good, the ribs were tasty and and cooked to proper tenderness. It is served with two types of sauces.
The chicken wings are really good, better than most places that serve wings.
The pulled pork is good, but hard to not do a good pulled pork.
The chicken quesadillas is pretty good, lots of chicken.
The bad, the brisket was inedible. It was way too tough.
Overall, pricing is fair and portion sizes are good. I would definitely come back for the ribs and wings. 2
Great surprise!!!! As my son said, "I don't understand why people go to places like McDonald's, the little corner places are always better". And this one is definitely not the exception.
Not the best restaurant layout or decor, even though the photos on the walls are beautiful. But this place doesn't need to be known for it. The most important thing is the food! Really excellent food. We had two hamburgers and one peameal bacon sandwich. They were both delicious but I have to say that the peameal sandwich was the best of all. We got it paired with a fried egg and mayo. It tasted like heaven!!! The egg and the mayo enhanced the flavor of the peameal bacon and made it the best item of all. The hamburger was better than most hamburgers you can get. The beef was well seasoned and the condiments were fresh as they are supposed to be. Perfect size for a burguer and a sandwich (big). We also had some nice crunchy fries and some chicken wings. The wings were not the best wings ever but they were good.
Prices seem good until you start adding condiments (cheese, bacon and such) to the burgers and sandwiches, and the orders do not come as a combo with fries and drinks, they are all separate items in the menu. The final check was a bit higher than expected (my personal impression). Not a problem anyway. I have to come back to try the pull pork and the ribs. The place is better known for those items as I understand.
I would definitely come back!!!. Great food!!!!
Dropped in based on a loose Google search.
Was pleasantly surprised. Great food all around. Great people with a local born and bred business.
Try the rib tips and onion rings. My son and I ate them on the way home, and have no regrets not sharing!! (Will order extra next time)
Rick catered on our wedding this past Saturday and everything was fantastic! Rick was very responsive and went out of his way to make sure we had the right selections and quantities. He was flexible when we adjusted our attendance numbers and willing to help with staffing a bartender. He went above and beyond by coming by the day before to scope out the setup and even came by personally the day of to make sure the setup happened without any issues. All in all, Rick and his staff were amazing and so was the food! We had more than enough food for leftovers. Would highly recommend Rick’s Cookhouse for any event where you want a rustic vibe with tasty food and excellent service!
My wife and I had a great meal at Rick's Cookhouse. Never been there before but had a craving for BBQ!
I ended up getting the Taster Combo for One which included 3 Ribs, Brisket, Pulled Pork, Coleslaw and Baked Beans.
Everything was good! I especially liked the Pulled Pork!
My wife had the half rack of ribs dinner. She thought it was very tasty.
We both had a couple of cans of Coke products.
The bill came out to be a little under $60 which was very reasonable for the amount of food that we ate. (We actually brought some home.)
We will definitely come back.
P.S. I would have given 5 stars but they don't have Corn Bread.
