Located at the corner of Columbia and Church in New Westminster, The Heritage Grill is a bar that serves up typical casual eats as well as breakfast until 3pm. I dropped by for lunch during the weekday and didn’t find it very busy.
The interior doesn’t get much natural light so I decided to dine on the outdoor covered patio. It took a while for my West Coast Benny ($12) to come out given how quiet it was during my visit.
The benny includes smoked salmon, red onions, green onions, and capers served on top of a crisp English muffin. I was a bit disappointed by the lack of a runny yolk but at least it wasn’t completely overcooked and the yolk had a slight creaminess to it. The diced cubes of potatoes weren’t too bad but could have used a bit more crispness to the exterior.
I returned the following week to try their Cod and Chips ($14) which includes 2 pieces of freshly fried cod fillets served atop of Kennebec fries with a small side of coleslaw. Aside from the coleslaw, which was a bit dry and needed more dressing, the dish was spot on. The cod fillets were encased in a thin yet crisp and crunchy batter and the fries (especially the thinner, crispy bits) were so good.
Overall, the food here is pretty good and service is friendly (albeit a bit slow).
Weekend breakfast, is cheaper and not full of people, diferent place, looks like old, but is cozy and cool to visit. I ordered three eggs omelets and black coffee. It was tasty and good.
HG is in a category of it's own. It's a bit of an dive but with a lot of character and great vibe. It's the people that work there and the diverse clientele that make the place. And of course the variety of entertainment. Food is a bit pricey but the entertainment is free. There's a small dance floor and most bands booked on weekends are fun to dance too. A great place to perform for long time local musicians and bands.
My favorite place to get a burger and a beer in New West! The salads are unique, and the onion rings are great! Try the Guinness cheddar on a bacon cheeseburger, you won't regret it!

Awesome pride-friendly place 👌 The staff are always happy to see you and very hard-working. There was a wonderful waitress named Sam and one cook. Props to Sam for amazing service! The food was tasty and good quality. My friend and I shared nachos and honey garlic wings. The wings were very meaty. You cannot have a pub/grill without great wings, so kudos to Heritage Grill 🍗🐓
5 out of 5 stars is not enough for this place. I will definitely be coming back, and so should you 🥰
