Absolutely breathtaking basilica! At least as far as the interior is concerned. The exterior is frankly not the most captivating, it feels a bit unremarkable. As it is one of the highlights of Montreal, I could not miss stopping by the basilica, however Sunday afternoon visit might not have been the best idea thanks to the enormous amount of people around. I would recommend picking less exposed times. I would also advise purchasing the tickets (yes, this basilica charges 15 CAD to enter) online if the queue to enter is too long. There are QR codes around, which direct you to a website to buy the ticket, however the site is not the most user friendly -  there were too many steps and clicks to make the purchase. If it was already busy outside, it was even busier inside! It resembled nothing like a peaceful church. The place was crowded, loud and very difficult to move around due to the amount of tourists. Most of them were not following any sorts of rules, like trying to be quiet or being considerate to others. Hence picking the right time for a visit is essential. Once I stepped inside, though, I was blown away! The interior was absolutely stunning, and I couldn't believe my eyes. The wooden decorations were rich and intricate, but the most interesting part for me was the deep blue color used in the sanctuary and altar vaults. It was so mystical and unlike anything I've seen in a church before. The lighting at the sanctuary was on point as well, beautifully highlighting the right areas and creating a perfect atmosphere. Very unique and unforgettable. I saw information boards advertising for a visual show called AURA - something I regret not doing. It looked impressive! Despite the crowds and dimmed lighting inside, it is relatively easy to miss other parts of the basilicas such as the beautiful organs with their 7000 pipes or the exquisitely carved pulpit. Toilets are located behind the altar and despite the amount of visitors, they remained relatively clean. What surprised me a lot was the fact the basilica was air-conditioned. Not that I complain, as it was handy on a hot day, it was just a bit unusual. Tip: If you want to learn more information about this place, grab a paper pamphlet at the entrance, otherwise you can book a guider tour instead. Visited on a busy Sunday, July 2023. Paid online by card.

One of the best places to visit in Canada. As soon as you enter you feel like you have entered in whole new world. Architecture is mind-blowing. Every detailed is still preserved and completely different vibes inside. It’s very easily accessible and reachable by nearest metro/subway station. Must visit place in Montreal.

This basilica is one of the most intricate pieces of art that I've seen as compared to a lot of the European counterparts. The Aura light show is definitely highly recommended. I would personally suggest to book the Aura experience and rather than double booking the viewing, see it while you're in for that.

This church is an architectural masterpiece! Whether you are religious or not, as long as you appreciate history and architecture, you will enjoy your visit. Avoid the long lines by coming on a weekday. Tickets prices are, as of August 2022): $15. Adults $12. Students 17-22 $9. Children 6-16 Group pricing also available for those groups with 10+ people at $12 each Sometimes they have musical or other special performances here and depending on your interest and tastes, could be worth it.

The basilica's main attraction is the mesmerizing stained glass windows, which depict various religious scenes and symbols. The play of light through the colorful glass creates a magical ambiance that adds to the spiritual atmosphere of the space. The centerpiece of the basilica is the stunning altar, adorned with intricate carvings and sculptures. The richly decorated pulpit, organ, and chapels further enhance the overall beauty of the interior. The basilica's acoustics are exceptional, making it a popular venue for concerts and musical performances.

Such a beautiful place. A must visit when you are in Montreal. It looks so fabulous from inside. Short history and details just makes it more interesting to read about the importance of the place. They have a musical instrument up on the first floor, visible from anywhere inside the Basilica, with a history written down on the board. It’s a must read.

The basilica looks nice from outside but it is not a Wonder (it is not helping that there is no pedestian zone in front of it, and cars drive there all the time). However, it surely is BEAUTIFUL from inside. We did the AURA Experience, and we loved it. Beautiful light show and music. And the true bonus: no photos or videos are allowed during the performance. So no distractions by hundreds of phone screens! 👍🏻

I recently visited the Notre-Dame Basilica of Montreal and was absolutely mesmerized by its beauty and grandeur. The moment I stepped inside, I was greeted by a breathtaking sight of magnificent architecture and stunning stained glass windows. The intricate details and the vibrant colors created an ambiance that was truly awe-inspiring. The knowledgeable guides provided insightful information about the history and significance of the basilica, enhancing the experience even further. The peaceful atmosphere and the ethereal music added to the overall tranquility of the place. This iconic landmark is a must-visit for anyone seeking a spiritual and cultural journey. Highly recommended!

This Basilica is breathtaking. I go to see these places for their religious value, and am blessed with the "beauty beyond compare" experience. The architectural and historical value are phenomenal. I chose not to buy the guided tour, but it is worth it if you want a thorough visit of information. Many celebrities have used this church for weddings and funerals. Don't pass it up, if you get a chance to visit.

Went here while on vacation In Montreal and it is definitely a tourist attraction. I bought tickets in advance so entering was no hassle and I was able to go in immediately. The interior was very eye catching and I have to say this place is very photogenic. The lights are extremely pretty and there are tons of interesting statues. If you are in Montreal definitely give it a visit. I didn’t have a chance to go during the aura event but it does look very interesting. If you have the chance I would definitely recommend to get tickets for aura too.
