Great Dinners!. I went here for a Friday night dinner and I thought it was great! Perfect portion sizes and better quality food than I expected from a "cafe". I had one of the best burgers I've tried in Montreal (Avocado, smoked cheddar, bacon), and they had a great smoked salmon salad.
Prices were good, and 2 for 1 coupons exist if you look for them!
Will come back, but.... A lot of friends have recommended this place for brunch, so last weekend, when I realized that Cafe Della Posta (RIP :( ) was closed, we went to Cafe Em.
I ordered the Monte Cristo sandwich with breakfast potatoes and a coffee. I'm not finnicky with coffee when I'm not at an establishment that doesnt specialize in coffee, so , whatever.
The Sandwich came out, and looked great. Two pieces of french toast with ham and cheese (i believe gruyere) slapped inside, and a small side bowl full of maple syrup on the side got me excited. The potatoes on the side looked just as appetizing.
The downside was that my entire dish was cold. My friend had ordered the breakfast wrap, which was piping hot, and delicious. I'm not sure exactly how a Monte Cristo is *supposed* to be cooked, but the inside part of my bread wasnt cooked, it was actually, very soggy, while the outer sides were cooked perfectly. Maybe this is how its supposed to be, so I'll leave that alone.
As I continued eating, and eventually dug into my breakfast potatoes, I realized the whole meal would be cold.
Based on the fact that my friends dish was great, I will give Cafe Em a second go. Otherwise, Atmosphere was great, serveuse was lovely, and everyone seemed pretty relaxed.
The breakfast here is decent. I had the burrito which was very filling. Good service too. I'll come back to try again for sure!
