It wasn't bad, average food. We had the steamed dumplings which were tasty. For our main I had the birds nest chicken and Chinese veggies and my boyfriend had the beef satay. All pretty good. Although I'm not sure if the birds nest itself was edible cuz it most certainly didn't taste it. Service was okay.
I would come back but it wouldn't be one of my first choices.
Absolutely love this place. It's hands down our go-to spot in Chinatown. Our kids love it too, specifically the fish/tofu soup, shrimp toast and spring rolls. Other of our (adult) favorites are the salt & pepper seafood, ginger lobster, snow pea leaves with king mushrooms ... the list can go on forever.
Amazing Salt & Pepper soft shell crab.. Where the locals go for some great Szechuan dishes. Open till 4 a.m.
Decent Pekin Duck. My wife and I shared a half pekin duck and overall we enjoyed it. It comes with 3 dishes:
- duck bone soup with cabbage and tofu which was pretty flavorful and not too salty
- the pekin duck slices with steamed crepes, hoisin type sauce and green onions. The duck skin was very crispy and not too fatty. Its still a bit far from the authentic beijing duck in terms of flavors and the skin is almost too crispy. Sauce was clumpy, not sure if that was intentional... and i would prefer to have sliced cucumbers instead of the marinated daikons/carrots they provide.
- bean sprout and duck meat stir fry which tasted pretty good although more meat would have been nice.
Service wasnt that great, although pretty average by Chinatown standards. We called the servers chloroform and ritalin. One was half asleep and looked lost most of the time, and the other guy was actually running everywhere and screaming at everybody.
Restaurant was full when we came, which is always nice. Will try to come back to try some other dishes.
Pekin Duck. Made for sharing. The flavor of the sauce is similar to mu shu pork, but with crispy skinned duck, pickled vegetables and julianed green onions. Mmmmm
"THE best". After having going there for over 37 years I can honestly say that this is "THE" best Chinese resto in Montreal. Excellent food, good service and CLEAN!!
