A cozy, clean, no-frills restaurant. Excellent service. Food came at the right time. The food was delicious. started with the avocado soup and Oaxaca fondue!! The soup was good but the fondue was excellent. The Oaxaca cheese was delicious. For the main course, ordered the Cactus tacos, Pork tacos and Enchilada. All were fresh, rightly spiced and delicious. Will definitely go here again.
I heard about this restaurant from mtlblog.com and as i live in the area i figured it would be a good place to have dinner. I have often walked past the place without giving it much notice. It is a small basement restaurant.
As i tend to eat early in the evening, the restaurant was nearly empty. Prices were reasonable and they had a good selection of dishes. They had a few dishes with cactus. Something i had never tried before. As it turned out, cactus is very good.
Unlike some other Mexican places where you can pick and choose what kind of taco's you want, here there are only a few choices and they come in batches of 3. I wanted to try a cactus one and 2 of the chorizo. I did not want to order a batch of 3 cactus in case i would not like it. I asked and i was told that since they were not busy, they could do that. I was happy.
Service was good and the server was friendly and efficient. Everything was made on the spot, not pre-made and reheated, so it took a little while for things to come out. The dishes came out as they became ready, so my friend received his meal about 5 minutes before mine. Not a big deal.
The food was flavourful and was really good. I think the taco shells could be a little bit bigger as it was impossible to close them up once i added on the re-fried beans and salsa.
I would definitely recommend this place to anyone interested in a wonderful Mexican meal.
Delicious Mexican food!! They greet you with a big plate of tortilla chips, and everything is authentic and tasty. The cactus salad is a must.
