Very nice small cosy resto. The spinach artichoke pizza is amazingg but a bit salty. The 5 cheese pizza is very good , and also we tried the bbq chicken which was my least favourite. But a very nice resto highly recommended. All pizzas come with salad perfectly dressed.

Argent comptant seulement!

If you’re looking for a cozy pizza place in Montreal (specifically in the south Plateau area) look no further than Amelias. You’ve probably heard of Amelio's, a beloved and favourite pizza place that opened in 1985. The family business has now been passed down to the younger generation and in 2015, Amelias opened to carry on the tradition that Amelio’s had left behind. Cult MTL called Amelias one of the best Italian places in town in both their Student Survival Guide 2014-2015 and Student Survival Guide 2015-2016.

Once you find the corner location and head down the stairs, you’ll feel very comfortable among the friendly servers, exposed brick, and plenty of glowing string lights. The space is quite small, but big on warmth. It truly does feel like a secret little neighbourhood Italian joint. You can bring your own wine with you, which we did, but when in doubt they also carry Brio which pairs so excellently with pizza. Known for their pizza, you can also find other items on the menu to eat as well, such as submarine sandwiches and pasta dishes. Since it was our first visit, we decided to stick with the pizza. Montreal is not known for having very good pizza, so I was curious to find out where this perennial favourite would land on the spectrum.

Everyone gets a salad included! I wasn’t exactly clear on what we were required to order for everyone to get a salad but we must have done it, whatever it was. I loved this fresh and bright salad. The vegetables were beautiful and the best part was the deliciously zesty homemade Italian dressing, which had been liberally applied. I dipped my bread into the leftover dressing to ensure that I consumed every last drop.

Speaking of bread, we ordered the Garlic Bread with Cheese ($4.00). This bread was crusty and ultra-garlicy, served warm from the oven. The cheese wasn’t overdone and probably could have been left off altogether. However I loved that they weren’t shy about using a ton of garlic.

PIZZA. There are a range of pizzas available; from “classic,” “signature,” to “gourmet.” The signature pizzas seem to be where it’s at and we easily settled on the White Pizza (Five cheeses - $20.50 for a 12” medium). This pizza seemed like their claim to fame, from everything that I’d heard. There’s also an interesting-sounding Reuben pizza which I feel would be worth a try at a later time. The White pizza is made up of five different cheeses and no sauce whatsoever. I decided to add some of my personal favourite toppings onto my half to kick things up a notch. Doing this proved to be expensive. Fresh mushrooms ($2.50), green olives ($2.50), anchovies ($5.00). They don’t care if the additional toppings are only on half of the pizza, they’ll still charge you the same price that they would for the whole pizza. And anchovies are a “double item” which means that they’re double the cost. $5 for anchovies on half of a pizza is surely ridiculous. Anyway, I got my three favourite pizza toppings and that’s what mattered.

The crust was very nice and light, not weighted down by grease at all. The dough tasted fresh and simple, which I liked. The five cheeses were pretty mild in flavour, and not the gooey mess that I had anticipated. I was glad that I had added some strong additional toppings because the pizza would have been somewhat bland without them. I enjoyed this pizza, but I am certainly aware of better pizzas out there in the world. I think that I might have been happier with a tomato sauce based pizza instead.

I would like to return to try their pasta. I love that they offer green or white varieties of pastas and their large selection of sauces to choose from (tomato, vegetarian, meat, rosé, pesto) all sound amazing. The prices seem pretty high and it’s important to note that they take cash only.

Must order. If you go here (which you most definitely should!), you HAVE to order the white pizza with sliced tomatoes. I swear you will not be disappointed!

Nice and cozy, reasonably priced. Awesome little place, the inside is small neat and cozy. Not what you would expect from a place that serves mostly american style pizzas. Arrive early because the place can only accomodate max 50people. Really good quality/price ratio, would definately return there.

Amazing. Amelio's, whether this location or the one on Bernard is delicious! The wait on a friday night (in the cold) was about an hour, but it was worth it. The pizza and pastas are amazing, however the italian sausage pizza lacks toppings. The bring your own wine option adds a certain touch to it all. Their pizza is a must have!!

Get the vege pizza. I have had to wait up to an hour (sometimes in the rain, yes I've seen slow queues in the rain for this place) to get into this very small, cramped, basement restaurant with horrible hours (they seem to be closed most of the time). And then you have their vegetarian pizza, and from then on you keep commin' back regularly. There you have it, one of my favourite places to eat out in Mtl.

The staff is nice. It's not the cheapest pizza in Montreal but it tastes much better and you get a free small salad bowl with it that actually isn't bad. Bring your own wine/beer. Cash only, but there is an ATM right there next to the counter.

Looks slightly dodgy, in a residential area with a sign that must be no bigger than 10" by a foot and a half, but now that I know the place I actually appreciate the recluse feel.
