Wow what a deal. Spice bro’s and the nouvelle Indian Schtick sell them for more than double and the Naan is not as good. Nehari was great.
Support a local family and get a great deal too!
Their onion pakora is to die for. Prices are very reasonable. For pick eater try the rolls (naan garlic sauce chicken or beef or veg and lettuce).
First off, Shahi Palace is not Indian, but Pakistani, quite distinctively different, hotter and less creamy sauced.
Second, they are extremely busy with take-out orders nonstop, so don't go in expecting servility like you're at the Raj downtown or something. Yes, the service from the family can be indifferent, but you try working their hours and see how you do.
Third, this is homestyle cooking, so the spice content is real here. They use real green chilies and real shredded ginger. If you want mild butter chicken and basmati rice and nothing else, you're missing out on the point of the place, and of course it will taste like it's tinned sauce.
They have signature dishes that are unbeatable compared to elsewhere in Montréal: the balti, jalfrezi, and chili dishes are excellent. They also don't load up on sugar and cream like bland southern indian restos do, so don't expect that. They do quails as well, and the biryanis are laced with real cloves and bay leaves (so don't forget to pick them out).
I've been at least 30 times in my life there. Aryana, the Afghani place across the street is good too, as is Bombay Mahal further north on Sources, so there's lots of good choice way up des Sources.
I have been there 2 times for take out, I realized they even don't know what is customer services. After renovation, its look become better but with same worst management.
Simply excellent, great mom and pop shop....literally they both operate this little restaurant and it's the husband that cooks it's all about the food, and taste!
Its a simple place that delivers with no chi-chi
The best pakistani food in the West Island. Hot, medium, spicy, they have it all. I'm white but they made me feel like they cooked for their family. Real quality food for your money. Loved the less spicy tandoori chicken. Going back for sure !!!
Amazing place great food the place aint nice but the food is to die for :)
I went against some reviews I saw on here and decided to try it. I called for pick up and I was so impressed with the price and portion size I have been back multiple times. I now no longer have to drive to park ex for great authentic Indian food a must try
Best Indian food i've ever had!. I've been to many different indian/pakistani restaurants all over montreal and also had the opportunity to try a few places in Toronto and New York City and I can honestly say that nothing even comes to close to this restaurant. The food is authentic and always delicious, and the people there are warm and welcoming. Looks can be deceiving with this place because its an older building and the decor is nothing special but don't let that stop you from having the best meal of your life!!! :)
I recommend this place to everyone I know, whether they are indian food lovers like myself or first-timers.
I've been coming to this restaurant for over 10 years and just can't get enough. It's a little pricier than most Pakistani or Indian restaurants but the food is worth it! The butter chicken, chicken roll and chicken biryani are my personal favourites, the seekh kabab is also really good but is a bit more of a spicier dish.
