Spending a weekend in Montreal, my Husband and I decided to venture off the beaten path, so we googled the Giffintown area. Found this gem online where the menu has fried chicken!!! One of our favorites to indulge. After living more than 7+ years in New Orleans, we kinda know good fried chicken when we taste it! The atmosphere was low key, country kitchen meets art deco modern..perfect! Sat at the bar and was immediately greeted by one of the friendliest bartenders that seemed super excited for us to spend time chatting and giving us wonderful advise on the menu. So we decided to share a 3 piece of chicken, with the sweet chili sauce and maple siracha sauce. AND... the chicken did not disappoint. Super crunchy outside, piping hot inside (which means it's cooked to order) and so flavorful! The side of jalapeno cornbread muffins were soft, hot with just a hint of sweetness...the staff was so friendly, we thoroughly enjoyed our lunch! This is a must go to spot....loved it! Thanks ya'll for a wonderful early afternoon meal...we will be visiting again for sure!!!
My wife and I went for a date night and were quickly impressed with the atmosphere, decor, food and staff. We are parents in our early 40s that used to be very active in the Montreal nightlife 12-15 years ago, and Bird Bar allowed us to relive those wonderful memories. We found it the perfect blend of interesting culinary experience and "action" with a DJ that played some great old school tunes. We ate at the bar, and our service and food were superlative. Once our dinner was over, the staff arranged a space for us in the speakeasy; our bartender personally escorted us down there. Luckily for us, a party was in full swing, and my wife and I quickly joined in! The manager even accommodated 2 friends who had come to meet us for drinks, bringing them directly to our table. All in all it was an amazing evening, a great place if you're young and single or an older couple with children who are looking to get out and turn the clock back a bit.
A great new place in griffintown! While bird bar specializes in fried chicken they do offer a pretty varied menu included lobster rolls, mac and cheese and even a vegan "fried chicken" made of mushrooms and soy. We ordered the mac and cheese balls to start and they were awesome. Cheesy and yummy on the inside and crunchy batter on the outside. For the main we had the chicken and waffles. The fried chicken had a crisp and flavourful batter, the chicken was moist and tender. What really impressed me actually was the waffles. Often times they get soggy under the heavy fried chicken especially when there's sauce. This one was pillowy on the inside and perfectly crunchy on the outside. It was delicious and the sriracha maple syrup is a perfect addition.

A couple of weeks ago I finally made it to Bird Bar in Griffintown. The place is known for their fried chicken and champagne. I was there with a few friends on a Friday night and we all agreed that the ambiance was great. Decor is airy and bright and the DJ was playing some good music and that’s always a plus.
Everyone is clucking about Le Bird Bar and Henden, the little speakeasy right underneath this fried chicken restaurant. When you think of fried chicken, well at least good fried chicken, you think of a greasy southern joint that serves you the oiliest but most decadent piece of fried chicken. This is not the story behind Le Bird Bar.
So you'd expect a place that serves fried chicken to be a hole in the wall but not BirdBar! Was there last night with a large group of coworkers and we were impressed by the decor. Tried the mac n cheese balls & popcorn chicken appetizers, which were the worst and best dishes of the night, respectively. The popcorn chicken is spicy and sweet - a perfect combination. Got the 3-piece fried chicken plate with cornbread and 2 sauces (sriracha maple and honey Dijon). Yummy. Overall, a good experience and would go back.
