Fresh seafood you pick and have it cooked right in front of you. Good service. Price is reasonable too. A good place for a healthy and tasty dinner.
Delicious & fresh food. This is the best place if you're looking for seafood!!
Really fresh seafood and fish for a decent price, cooked or fried to perfection. Atmosphere is a but iffy, makes it feel like a cafetaria, bit everything is good in general.
We tried this “pick your own and have it cooked” seafood spot on a sunny Wednesday, early evening. As we arrived around 6pm lots of people were hurrying into the restaurant and heading to the fish selection counter. Poissonnerie Rayan is a poissonnerie where you can simply buy fish and also choose to have it grilled and serve to you at one of the many simple tables in the restaurant. We, ourselves, headed to the fish counter and being quite hungry ordered a generous quantity of various seafood.
Je prends toujours la même chose, calamars frits, saumon grillé, patates, salade et crevettes à l'ail. L'ambience est celui d'une buvette plus que rien mais la qualité du poisson est top!

Likely the best octopus in Montreal.
Very good fried fish, grilled shrimp, fried calamari. Excellent cooking and poor service. I go their for the quality of the food since I know their service is bad in advance. Don't forget to take tahini sauce and make sure you r paying to what u ate since they make horrible mistakes!
Amazing food, poor service. I went to this restaurant with my husband and my two kids for Saturday night diner. The concept is to order your fish from the fish counter tell them how to cook it. You can then either take out or they will assign you a table so you can eat in. We had grilled sardines, fried basa (white fleshed fish), fried calimari, garlic shrimp and sides of salad and fried potato wedges. When the food arrived is was fresh, nicely seasoned and plentiful. The highlight was definitely the fried basa, which was lightly battered and not too salty, and the potatoes, which came to the table hot and perfectly seasoned. Foodwise, this is excellent and for the price (about 65$) for a family of four for the quantity, quality and type of food it is not bad at all. The service is poor - while the food is served fast everything else is very piecemeal. For example, they brought us water without cups - after trying to get the attention of a waiter we went to get cups ourselves. Once you finish eating, they rush you out a bit. This is not the right place to have a nice leasurely diner, followed by coffee/tea and conversation. However if you want very good, inexpensive sea food in a casual family friendly setting, this place is definitely worth a try. We will go back either for take-out or to eat in.
Heaven sent!. Being new to the area, and a bachelor - the place is heaven sent!
Great staff - fast service! Great stop in the area! I really enjoy the calamari!
Amazing. Blows me away every time. Must try: potato wedges with red sauce, salad, fried basa with white sauce, and garlic sauteed shrimps
Great food good fresh fish
Very Decent Seafood; Weak on Service and Atmosphere. Walking into this place is like scoring a free trip to the Middle East. Basically a Middle Eastern eatery that just landed smack in the middle of Cote-de-Neiges. Seafood just like your Arabic teta used to make, and probably just like the seafood joint near your summer vacation appartment in Alexandria/Tripoli/etc.
Seafood is fresh and well prepared (if not a tad overpriced--but hey, it's good seafood), but beware of the service and the state of the place--it's ghetto. They may NOT change your plates if you've been served salad beforehand (sorry, not very classy even if it all does end up in the intestinal tract).
ART and other Mid Eastern channels are screened on several plasma screens.
Good eats! I would definitely go back.
