Definition of a hidden gem. Feels like you're being welcomed into a neighbours' home for supper. A dying breed, so go while it's still around. Just an overall lovely place run by an equally lovely couple.
Great experience!. Food and service was excellent and the owners are very nice people! I felt I was somewhere in Europe and not in Montreal. The prices are super affordable! I would definitely go back again!
Aug 9 2013. What a great experience!! $25 all in - salad ( a little wilted) - matzo ball soup was excellent - cabbage was great - crepe desert also excellent. The best part - the owner not only serving and meeting/greeting buy a violin virtuoso - accompanied by a guy playing something on piano/strings. What a great evening!! Highly recommended. The hours on Urban Spoon are wrong (owner has no idea that the restaurant is even listed (not a geek). They are open Tue - Sun.
Home cooked Hungarian food. Just had the table d'hôte, which was a large salad, delicious matzah ball soup, stuffed cabbage and an apricot-chocolate crepe. The portions were huge, the owners were beyond friendly and the live music made me feel like we were in Budapest. I would highly recommend this restaurant, esp. if you like home cooked style food.

Amazing eastern European, homemade style. We had a lovely time at Budapest Roma, if you ever wanted to experience eastern European food (well, Hungarian, but it's all very similar) without the cost of an airplane ticket go to Budapest Roma. I am eastern European myself and grew on this type of food, and I can tell you that it's 100% authentic and really really tasty.
It's a small restaurant ran by a very warm couple, it's as if you stepped into their home, they receive you wholeheartedly as if you were part of the family, service is as good as it gets, they cook the food home-style, a nice, generous portion that will surely satisfy your appetite.
The decor is beautiful, you feel like you're in a different country, beautiful flowers on the edge of the windows and on every table, great attention to details, beautifully renovated place. It's really a great place for a date or for a party, since the place is small you can probably reserve the whole place to yourself.
If you're craving something new, special and different, Budapest Roma is the perfect place, it will surely be a memorable experience, it was for us.
Gem of Montreal!. Not to be missed! Very unassuming storefront yet a delightful genuine tasty and warm restaurant. You will be served in an intimate setting where the class and personal care of a more elegant times past surrounds. The food is authentic hungarian dishes and delicious.
Reserve and be delighted. Fridays and saturdays have live music - by the way your host happens to be a professional Roma Hungarian violinist that will charm you to bits.

Unconventional and exhilarating. You will never forget your visit to this establishment. It offers a total experience, both unconventional and exhilarating, including wonderful food, exquisite music and warm, informal atmosphere. Run by a violinist who is also an excellent chef, the ambience is more like an old friend`s house than a business.
