Kyoto is truly a hidden gem, it serves one of the best sushis in town if not the best. The restaurant is small with modest deco yet home like atmosphere, clearly run by a family. Many customers seem to be loyal frequent ones who knew the chef. The sushi comes at 5 pieces per order at a price of about 10$ each. I ordered two types of Maki rolls. The Alaska with fresh tuna, salmon squid and crab stick, and the Gatsby with spicy salmon, shrimp, avocado and caviar.
Although it takes some time for the sushi to come as it took time fir the chef to craft them, but it definitely worth the wait. Both sushi tastes great, you can smell the coldness and freshness of the tuna, salmon of the Alaska , the squid added a bit crispiness and chewiness to the bites. The spicy salmon was slightly torched and very tasteful. But the best part is the sushi rice, dense, sticky and soft. Presentation was exquisite, although I ordered maki, they almost look like nigiri. Definitely will come back to try other types of maki, nigiri and sashimi.
Just wish the price could be a bit lower so I can come more often. But quality product always comes with a price. In this case, I would say, it’s worth it.

Best sushi in Montreal hands down. Reasonable price for insane quality. Everything is super on point - fresh sashimi, great proportions in the maki, succulent eel and soft shell crab.

I love authentic style sushi. I love the freshness and thickness of the fish. The waiter sometimes is a little lost but you will end up getting your food anyways. If you like authenthic japanese sushi with no tempura or spicy mayo it's the place to be!
After experiencing all those all you can eat Sushi Buffet and those cheap take-out sushi places, I was terribly wrong for many years to even consider those to be descent sushis after having a taste of Kyoto's Sushi !The fish is fresh and tender, and their Makis are finger licking good!! Especially their Red Tuna, oh my god it melts in my mouth! Each roll have generous portion of ingredient and they are easily recognizable compare to other Sushi place where their ingredient almost look disintegrated with the rice and caviar mdrWould definitively come back for more!
Very cute and cozy place! Great sushi for the price. Service may be a bit slow.. but it's def worth the wait! I highly recommend the Sumo Maki with Karage Chicken and BBQ Eel on it.
Great food and service! Loved the dedication the workers put into their work. Great variety in the menu. Loved it! Definitely would recommend.
Excellent! This place is a hidden gem. The owners are Japanese and also chef.
Went there for friend bday. Service is quite fast and sashimi tenderness is very high grade. The bill for two people can be a bit pricy: 60$, but well worth it compared to other high end restaurants. Definitely will check this place out again and will say goodbye to other sushi restaurants.
We discovered this place a couple of months ago. It is run by a small family. Father is the sushi chef, son is the server. This place serves the best and freshest sushi in Montreal. It's our new favourite sushi spot. Definitely a hidden gem. Our favourite is the salmon eagle eye roll (maki with calamari wrapped around the roll) but it just takes a little bit longer to make.
Best best sushi in town. I have been eating at Kyoto for more than 10 years. Never disappointed, always fresh food and excellent service for a reasonable price. Owners are wonderful and kind people. It's very accessible from Metro Cote Vertu or Du College. If you want to have the best sushi in Montreal, look no further!
