Kyoto is truly a hidden gem, it serves one of the best sushis in town if not the best. The restaurant is small with modest deco yet home like atmosphere, clearly run by a family. Many customers seem to be loyal frequent ones who knew the chef. The sushi comes at 5 pieces per order at a price of about 10$ each. I ordered two types of Maki rolls. The Alaska with fresh tuna, salmon squid and crab stick, and the Gatsby with spicy salmon, shrimp, avocado and caviar.
Although it takes some time for the sushi to come as it took time fir the chef to craft them, but it definitely worth the wait. Both sushi tastes great, you can smell the coldness and freshness of the tuna, salmon of the Alaska , the squid added a bit crispiness and chewiness to the bites. The spicy salmon was slightly torched and very tasteful. But the best part is the sushi rice, dense, sticky and soft. Presentation was exquisite, although I ordered maki, they almost look like nigiri. Definitely will come back to try other types of maki, nigiri and sashimi.
Just wish the price could be a bit lower so I can come more often. But quality product always comes with a price. In this case, I would say, it’s worth it.

Best sushi in Montreal hands down. Reasonable price for insane quality. Everything is super on point - fresh sashimi, great proportions in the maki, succulent eel and soft shell crab.

I love authentic style sushi. I love the freshness and thickness of the fish. The waiter sometimes is a little lost but you will end up getting your food anyways. If you like authenthic japanese sushi with no tempura or spicy mayo it's the place to be!
