The addition of many things done right made me give a high rating. It’s not the best Portuguese chicken in town but an a very good one. The presentation is extremely appealing. The decor is cosy with some modern blended in with the old. You have to leave space to try the Portuguese donut with the caramel. They have fresh cold cut platters. Good appetizers as well. The free olives are always welcomed. The waiter was really nice and friendly. Never obtrusive and his advice was good and genuine. Not to upsell. At least, not that I felt. I recommend you try this place because it’s a well rounded place and the price good for the location and quality of the food.

There are only so many ways chicken can be cooked wrong. Dry or small portions. I appreciated the ambiance and staff here. The food was great. The aesthetics were well thought out. Great location to be around other notable food places. However, it's not as busy as other places because of the cuisine type. That's not a reason for you to pass it up.

The Portuguese chicken at Taberna is out of this world! It's incredibly juicy and flavourful, the fries are delicious and crispy as well. The interiors are very rustic yet elegant, and the prices are very reasonable (~$20/person) for generous portions. It's become my go-to place for a casual lunch with friends - but beware that the wait for a table can get quite long, especially at peak lunch hour. Definitely worth the wait!

In town with my fiance on a short vacation from the US. Whenever we go on vacation we made a habit of trying the local Portuguese cuisine if it is available at the location. My fiance, not Portuguese, has become sort of an expert and snob on Portuguese food. I go to many restaurants in Portugal, the US and Canada. This is so far the best Portuguese restaurant in Montreal/ Canada, including Toronto. I tried a few here so far on this trip and the food at Taberna was authentic, tasty and the staff very friendly. They even have sumol whereas two other apparently Portuguese restaurants didn't know what sumol was. Will come back. Keep up the taste Taberna. Até breve.

The food was delicious and I really appreciate any restaurant that is family owned and operated! A wonderful selection if you are in Old Montreal. The Portuguese poutine was amazing!!

Yalllllll!!!!! This location was a stop on a food tour that I took and omg. If I ever come back to Canada I will come back here. So delish! We ate the Canadian thing that everyone eats with the fries and gravy.
