I didn't have a reservation, but I was warmly welcomed & seated at a pleasant table, not relegated to the bar as a solo dinner. The service was attentive & professional & the meal was wonderful. I had two appetizers with a lovely glass of red wine. One dish was sautéed mushrooms with a soft boiled egg & it was absolutely delicious. I think the mushrooms may have been sautéed with a rich stock along with butter. The sauce had great depth & the soft boiled egg was cooked to perfection. As good as this dish was (& it was very good), the chicken liver pâté, was even better. The pâté was rich, smooth & spread on the hearty bread like butter. However, the star was the gelée/aspic. I usually tend not to eat the gelée as I often find it a bit flavourless, but this was certainly not the case at Brasserie T. It was exquisite, with a deep umami quality. Absolutely addictive! What a pleasant dinning experience. I wouldn't hesitate to return or recommend it.
Cool restaurant!
We went there before a show in the quartier des spectacles. It's very close and convenient. They serve the usual things you would expect in a brasserie. Burgers, tartare, etc. But they are well-made and tastes good. A little expensive for what it is but that would be expected in this neighborhood.
I love that place for lunch or dinner.
The salmon confit is so good. I almost always eat that even if the bavette, tartares ... welle everything is good.
I started this meal off on the wrong foot. First the good news: I got a table without waiting. The past couple of times I aimed for this restaurant for dinner they were booked up or had a lineup outside the door. They were still busy this evening just after 6 pm, but I got the last available table without a reservation.
Now on to the bad news. I'm a cider kind of guy, and when I saw a cider on the beverage menu, I thought I would give it a try, even though it was $12, which is more than I had ever paid for a cider. Imagine my surprise when a small glass showed up with about 75 ml (less than three ounces). I pointed out to the server that the menu showed 375 ml (about 13 oz). She countered that was for the bottle, which was $68. Oops. It tasted more like an apple brandy than a cider to me. It was nice, just not what I expected.
I ordered a Side Salad as a starter for $8. The salad was a bit plain, with a couple of types of lettuce and some balsamic vinaigrette.
For my main course I ordered Coquille Saint-Jacques for $25. The presentation was nice, baked in a real scallop shell. The shell sat on a bed of sea salt on the plate for stability, so that the shell wouldn't rock back and forth while you ate. The mixture of scallops and shrimp in a cream sauce was very nice. For $25 and no sides I would have expected the portion to be a bit bigger.
Servers were pleasant, using a team approach. The restaurant was very modern looking, with lots of non-rectangular vertical and horizontal glass window panels set among mostly white plastic walls and ceiling. It has a very long, narrow layout, probably dictated by the site beside Place des Arts.
The final bill, including tax and tip, came to $60 for one person. Just like the cider, it was nice, but not what I expected.
One of the best places to go in Quartier des spectacles for quality dining. Great food and great ambiance, love this place. A little pricey but good.
Funny spot. Feels like you are in an aquarium. Be sure to go to the washroom: awkward! Friendly staff. Good food. A perfect place to stop for a 5 à 7 to have a drink and a quick bite.

Really enjoyed my evening there. The service was nice and the food also. The area is bubbling with activity and things to do.
Brasserie T- Good French food! Great Atmosphere.. If you have always wanted to go to Restaurant Toqué but did not want to pay the cost of expensive fine dining, then Brasserie T its sister restaurant is your route. Opened in 2010 right in Quartier des Spectacles you will find Brasserie T in a white trailer like building adjacent to Place des Arts. Once inside you will discover a narrow 55 seat restaurant serving great and inexpensive French Bistro/Pub food. The outside holds a 45 seat terrace overlooking the Place des Festival to boot, great for people watching in summer and being in the crux of the action and catching a show.It is great to see a renown chef like Normand Laprise branch out and offer his favorite clientele a chance to try his cuisine. The restaurant has been getting great reviews since it opening and has become a resounding hit with all types of diners in Montreal. I had a chance to first try Brasserie T last fall and I fell in love with it. The atmosphere and clientele were hip and cool; the music was great and the food affordable and tasty. I loved the buzz of the place. Here, I felt the pulse of our vibrant city, Montreal-the place I call home...just simply intoxicating!
The first time here we sampled the salmon tartar, pate de foie de volaille and bavette with fries and for dessert the puff pastry with strawberries ,whipped cream and crème brulée. All the dishes were exceptional and hit the mark . Not too salty or too sweet, not bland, just purrrfect! Even the smell of the fries as we walked in made our mouths water.
The second time around, after hewing and hawing so much over Brasserie T, my sister and her husband wanted to give it a shot! Here from the US we wanted to replicate the dinner we had a few months back. We started with two exceptional bottles from their private yet affordable collection of imported wines. Most bottles are under $ 70.00, a Bordeaux from France and a red from Argentina. Both pairing well with our choice of food, even with the fish we ordered. For entrées we started with Oysters, sautéed mushrooms with soft poached egg, salmon tartar and the terrine de foie gras. My sautéed mushrooms were flavourful and tasty; the creaminess of the egg yolk was exquisite as it spread over with the morsels of buttered sautéed fungi. The oysters were good, but not as good as Chesapeake Oysters,my sister said, but fresh nonetheless and accompanied with lots of lemon. The pate de foie gras was quite generic and a little on the too cold side. Maybe serving it a little closer to room temperature would have brought out more flavors. The salmon tartar was also good but lacked the explosive flavors and freshness of the other tartar my sister had sampled at Tandem during her last visit to Montreal during the holidays.
The flank steak I ordered was served medium rare and very tender and juicy, it went very well with my glass of Bordeaux, but the beurre blanc was overpowering and too salty. The classic Belgian fries, that were so crisp and delicious upon our first visit were a little on the soggy side. The walleye fish with cleric side was lacking in flavour too. The wow factor was completely lacking this evening! For dessert, the a hazelnut-heavy Paris-Brest with its pâte à choux shell was satisfactory to my guests, the two lemon meringue were much more tasty and tart and with espresso coffees to compliment the end of the meal and completing the evening. The service throughout the evening provided by our soft spoken waitress was courteous, professional and very sympathetic; she tried her best to speak English to our American guests.
Overall the second visit was half satisfying. I would not write this place off so soon, it must have been an off night and this sometimes happens in the kitchen. We will blame it on Festival des Lumière...it sapped the energy out of this place for the rest of the month
Love the location. I love this little glass box. his food is always delicious. i am a normand devotee for life.
