Review Restaurant Ganadara - Montreal

Nguyen My
Even though the restaurant is closed now but the love i have for them will never end. Hopefully they will reopen one day. The food is extremely good. Every single dishes are exceptional tasty and delicious. The waiting line can be about 30-45 minutes but it definitely worth the wait :)

My cousin recommended Ganadara so i could try their Korean version of ramen. It was 'ok' at best. But i did enjoy everything else. The menus dont have any pictures and the description of the dishes are vague and are basically just a list of ingredients. So what i did was showed the waitress photos from google reviews of what i liked to try. I was surprised how inexpensive it was to eat here, no wonder it's popular. And by popular i mean there's always a line to get in. We came in exactly at 11:30am when they opened and the place got packed instantly. The food is great, inexpensive, and very filling. But there's always and i mean ALWAYS a line up to get in.

The only downside of this is the long waiting line, especially if you're in groups (3 or more). Price is competitive, big portions, decent amount of meat and veggies. Service is fast even during rush hour. You can share it with friends to get to try more dishes. I came with 2 friends and we spend around $25 each, and we ordered food that's good enough for 4 people - but my friends are big eaters.... Be aware that the spicy food are pretty spicy!

The food is good and authentic Korean. It's affordable and well located. The place is tiny. So there's a line up if you arrive after noon. I got there at 11:30 today and there were only a few tables left and then by the time we left at least 20 people were lined up outside the door. The waiter was great though and accomidated a somewhat demanding friend with a smile. The service, food, and speed with which I was served was fantastic.

Honestly the first bite of the popcorn chicken had me wanting so much more. Every dish we ordered was so flavorful and if I wasn't so full by the end of it, I would have wanted more. I can understand why there's ALWAYS a line out the door. The restaurant itself is on the smaller side but that really doesn't stop anyone from eating here. Service is nice and efficient and food arrived in a timely manner. All dishes ordered below are as named: - Cheese chicken katsu (you can never go wrong with this combination of food - fried pork dumplings (super tasty and the sauces drizzled on top make it even better) - tobboki (I really enjoyed the veggies and the rice cakes, note it is spicy) - popcorn chicken (by far my favourite dish, I could eat the whole plate if I wasn't with friends! Haha, very light and crunchy) The lineup is definitely worth it!

We went pretty late (9:30) for dinner but there was still around 20ish minute line up. The restaurant is small so it can only accommodate so many people. The food was very tasteful and really good. The portions were great considering the price. Really good prices for everything. Food seemed like good quality. And was pretty spicy which was great for me. The fried chicken was very good as well. The service was pretty fast. Servers were very nice and helpful. And the rest of the staff was very friendly as well. Overall, highly recommend it and would return.

THE BEST KOREAN RESTAURANT IN TOWN !!! The wait can be very long before you get a seat, but it is totally worth it !! The food is tasty and authentic, the prices are good, and the menu has so many options now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND !

Nice atmosphere and decent service. I ordered the bulgolgi bowl and it was pretty good, although it could have used a little more seasoning. I'm not sure if it would be worth waiting in line for, but I came in during lunchtime, so it wasn't too busy. Overall, I would recommend this place if you're craving good Korean food

Best Korean food ever.
Karen
Its a small place where they dont take reservations amd its pretty busy. Food is ok. I expected more just because the rating is too hight. It is rated one of the best Korean restaurant in montreal. I tasted better. It was OK. I would give 3.5 on 5.

Tried to go GaNaDaRa on my last trip but they were closed for holidays (December 23 - January 2). There's no sign out front but look for the lineup that normally queues. Think Kazu but Korean style line. <br/><br/>I've shockingly never been even though I used to live sooooo close. Changed that and went with M on an early Monday for dinner. We over ordered but everything we had was fantastic!<br/><br/>- Banchan - they only give you one but it's legit. A mix of onion, carrot and kimchi with the best tasting sauce. The kimchi was less marinated, more raw which I loved. Perfect heat to it too. <br/>- Milkis ($3.00) - reminded me of a hybrid between pop and a non-alcoholic version of a vodka soda. Different but good. <br/>- Kimchi jjigae with pork belly ($11.00) - satisfying tofu pieces with deliciously marinated pork belly and vegetables. Soup was flavourful and spicy. <br/>- Bulgogi raymun ($9.00) - simple but well executed and homey. <br/>- Dak kimbap ($4.00) - you can tell their kimbap is freshly made. A small order (6 pieces) is the perfect amount. <br/>- Seafood pajeon ($8.00) - looks different than your normal style pajeons. It was light, fluffy and packed with seafood. <br/><br/>Awesome spot! Happily would come back again.

Omg this place is amazing ! It has no sign so it’s hard to find. The quality of the food is great and the prices are very reasonable. I had the topokki supreme which comes with everything - almost like a sampler platter. The mussels are fresh and marinated to a tee, the chicken is succulent , the bulgogi is on point... and I had the kimchi jigae - they must make the kimchi in house or order it from a specialty service because it is very aromatic and much better than what you find in stores or what is normally served up with Pan Chan ... and the jigae broth was both subtle and intense at the same time with a great sour punch
Woods John
Good korean food. The Supreme toboki poutine is serious there, fries, cheese, spicy noodles, rice cakes, grilled chicken, beef, calamari, shrimp and mussels. 🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿. The only hick is the waiting line.. it opens at 5pm and I got there at 5h05 and waited for like 45min to get in 😑. But i definitely recommend and will go back for some more

I've tried Korean food before and so i wanted to give this place a try. I saw the reviews online and it looked like a promising place to visit! There was a wait time of 15-20 mins and it turned out that it was absolutely worth it to wait. <br/><br/>I got a portion of Korean fried chicken in their special Ganadara sauce. You can see sesame sprinkled over it. It was absolutely fresh and delicious. The chicken as so tender just the way it should be served! Very flavorful! 5/5 <br/><br/>I also got their Grilled Chicken Ramen. It came with an egg in it. I really enjoyed the spicy flavor of the noodles and it was particularly comforting in this cold weather. If you are regular at Asian/Indian restaurants, you wouldn't find their Ramen too spicy! <br/><br/>The service was pretty good. <br/><br/>I'd go back to try new things from their menu!

My first time ever eating Korean food! I had a great experience at this restaurant, their service was great and the young ladies helping were super fun! <br/><br/>I tried the bibimbop which was yummy, the seafood tobiko which was good but too spicy for me. <br/>They also make interesting sweet drinks that are non-alcoholic
Maya Astro
very tasty!!!! amazing food, it was my first experience with korean food. my only suggestion is to expand it because it's getting so popular that their tiny area isn't fit anymore! would definitely go again
Jo
Food is good, place was too small for family, did not have high chair for the baby. Gotta recommend this place for korean food dishes.. good taste

First time to Ganadara. Showed up at 5:20 on a Friday and had to wait outside for 30 min. Got a spicy pork belly dish (dupbap au jeyuk) and a bowl of deep friedchicken bites with a tangy red sauce (dak ball). The pork belly dish was awesome: very flavorful and smokey with notes of peat! The dak ball was perfectly fried and was surprisingly light. Would definitely order both dishes again without hesitation. Only criticism is that both dishes need some balance because the disappointing kim chi did not lighten them up.<br/><br/>Only other thing that needs to be optimized is service. For example, food didn't come out together and we had to wait 5 min for one party member to get their food.
Rose Cookie
Waited outside approximately 20 minutes, felt like an hour.  Worth the wait for some decent Ramen and Koreen dishes. We ended up ordered the Curry Katsu Chicken & the Bugolgi Ramyun.<br/>The Ramen was spicy but did not impede the sweet flavour of the beef.  Simplistic dish however great to unclog the sinuses perfect for the flu/cold season. <br/>The curry katsu was flavourful , however would not recommend ordering because there seems to be better options on the menu. If you want curry, go to an indian restaurant. <br/><br/>Tasty, short wait for food, decent service, decent price.

I am giving ganadara 4.5 out of 5 because while the food in and of itself is maybe a 4/5 the price pushes it up to a 4.5. Went with my girlfriend and the meal cost just over 35 for the two of us. This included main courses and appetisers. Really great spot, well worth braving the line outside.
HW
This is the Korean Kazu. Great great food with modern environment at more than reasonable price. Place quickly fills out before noon so if you don't want to wait, arrive early is a must - even during the most freezing days.<br/>
Sol
I had really high expectations for this place as everyone was saying that it was the best Korean food in Mtl but i couldn't be more disappointed... Ganadara offers fusion food, not authentic K food as i've been told and read about. I was dying to finally get the food i was missing so much from living in Korea and what i had didn't satisfy my craving (dalk balls, bulgogi deopbap-pretty plane, squid deopbap...) Flavors are far from being the same, and there's so much better K food to offer than ramyun/instant noodles and donkkaseu !<br/>Now don't get me wrong, the food is okay, but fusion. Haven't tried the bibimbap though.<br/>Also the kimchi...was a good cabbage salad but not real kimchi... :(<br/>Get a bottle of soju to forget how much you miss Korea.
Lem66ieux
Doesn't need a sign, people are willing to freeze waiting outdoor in January to get in, and the place is quite small. None of this matters - this place is just phenomenal. We froze our butts off for an hour (be prepared to wait around an hour, especially at primetime on the weekends) but it was well worth it. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. Remembering all the dishes names is a bit of a chore but the pork belly, beef brisket and tofu were just perfection - from the seasoning to the texture. Their kimchi is great. We also tried the "Poutine" plate which had a mix of chicken, fish cake, brisket, shrimp and noodles and kimchi, it was a great way to taste everything. Highly recommended!

I love this place and the service is great. I'm lucky to always go there right before the line ups start. I recommend the ramen and bulgogi poutine 😆

We preface this post by saying that we don’t know a lot about Korean food, but we heard that GaNaDaRa was the home of the best Korean food in Montreal, so we’re starting on top and making our way down. We’ve been on quite the ramen crawl lately, and Asian noms in general, and a friend recommended GaNaDaRa for something different. He promised us the happiness that we get from a nice warm bowl of ramen, but with something different, a Korean edge known as ramyun.
Roxanne Denise N
Amazing ramen. Good egg rolls. The portions are large and it's not an expensive place either. Definitely will be returning frequently. Couldn't resist visiting twice in the week I was in Montreal.
TraceWolf
This restaurant had a bit of a queue forming outside (not uncommon for some restaurants around downtown Montreal from what I've seen) but it was well worth the wait! The food was not only excellent but very inexpensive too. <br/><br/>My only complaint is they keep the temperature VERY hot inside. I guess this is because they have a limited amount of seats and they want to get people in and out as fast as possible.<br/><br/>I come to Montreal once or twice a year and definitely will go back to GaNaDARa.:)
Ad Kasenally
Love this place. Best Korean in the area. Reasonable prices and friendly staff. Recommended. Frequent line as noted by many others. Try the bulgogi ramyun if you are partial to a bit of spice.
Flatulent Fox
Expect a long wait to get it. However long that may be though, it will be worth it. The dak balls are incredibly light and savory, and the padak with green onion is wonderfully seasoned and crunchy. Wonderful food and extremely friendly staff!
Syllacrostics
My first experience of Korean cuisine so I can't offer any sound judgement on authenticity but it was definitely delish. Definitely worth the 20 minute wait outside (in Montreal winter). Service was also great.
Jasmine Mei Zhang
Great food. Cheap price. Absolutely best Korean restaurant in Mtl. A quick question, would you guys open up another shop close to McGill, please? Why do Concordia students have all the privileges???
MunchieMario
Best Korean hands down in this city. Everything is excellent on the menu, and really not expensive. sometimes you need to wait to get in, but definitely worth it for one of the top asian places in Montreal. Pork Bowl!
Katrina V.
Best Korean in Montreal, in my opinion. The service is friendly, helpful and efficient. The food is amazing and the restaurant has a good selection for such a small place.
Johnny
Like the other reviews mention sometimes there is a line. <br/><br/>Food is really good the price. The spicy food is really spicy. The staff is kind and helpful and the place looks neat.
Amanda
It's a tasty and affordable spot for lunch. I had their Tsunami Tteokbokki, and it was massive! It actually hit me like a tsunami. I'm not really a fan of tteokbokki, but their was decent. I really enjoyed their tempura vegetables and that was definitely the highlight of the dish. The portions at GaNaDara are extremely generous, and the service was a little on the slow side, but it's understandable given how packed the place was. Their kimbap is fairly standard, nothing special, but they hit the spot as a light snack. The prices are affordable, and the food is great. Beware, there's always a huge lineup outside this place, so if you're hungry you should get there early!
Tena Petkovic
Went to GaNaDara twice last year. Sometimes there is a waiting line going outside the place but usually the wait isn't too long. The "general tao" entree was amazing, highly recommended. The different entree pancakes they also have are ok but are kind of heavy as they are fried. For the main dishes, the one I liked the most was any of their soups, the perfect soul food. Their dimbapbaps are also good but nothing special. If you come to this restaurant stick with the soups or the squid/veggie/rice mix. Overall, I recommend this place. Nothing amazing but good food to grab with friends.
Valderiz
Really like this place especially for the ramen soup. It's spicy and the portion is generous. It's very affordable. The service is also very good. Most of the waiters only speak English.
Ya Yan
It used to be very delicious but now it taste different. The spicy salmon sushi is still decent but the rest aren't worth it anymore. My Korean friend knows the owners and said they downgraded their standard. I guess it now really represent cheap fast-food student place to eat.
Abhishek
Located really close to my place. There is often a line of ppl waiting to get inside. Love the ramyum , packs a spicy punch. Good place and love the Korean music playing inside.<br/>

I am an avid fan of Korean variety shows. Their humor is totally my kind. And of course, a big part of their screen time is introducing some delicious Korean dishes that I can only see but cannot taste. Ganadara is relieving me from that dreadful torture!. Koreans (or is it just the celebrites in the variety show, Happy Together, at the segment cooking night time snack) love to add a hint of cheese in their traditional food. For example, a slice of processed cheese on their ramen. Or on tteokbokki. They just love their processed cheese!
Liyi Lu
Bulgogi ramen is super delicious! $9! Must try!!! It's a perfect hot soup noodle in the winter! The barbecue beef is super yum! I strongly suggest it!

My husband and I have been curious about Korean food, particularly Bibimbap, for a while now. I just so happen to have a niece who is somewhat of an expert on all things Korean. So when the opportunity to visit my family in my hometown of Montreal arose, I knew a venture into Korean fare would be on the proverbial menu.
Jimmy Conrad
Interesting but not worth more than 15 minutes wait<br/> <br/>This Korean place certainly is intriguing. With no sign outside and a constant line up, I was expecting to have my mind blown. Maybe it was the high expectations, but the food did not seem to deliver. It was definitely tasty Asian food, however nothing that would justify more than 15 minutes wait time. We took the Korean poutine, which was actually very good, although quite spicy. Take the rice cakes for appetizer, they are really good. Also the grilled squid was grilled quite nicely and not at all rubbery. Be warned, there is no dessert.
Fabian
Big portions, reasonable prices, and great taste! I had curry and kimchi soup, both great taste. on the down side expect a line, so arrive early.
Berkley Goldstein Cobb
This place was really good. They had a very interesting menu. There were items I had never seen before. We ordered a spicy beef roll and were pleasantly surprised. Also ordered a rice dish. Yum. The only criticism I have is that there should be more kimchi in an order of kimchi.
Lolo
Fun, young, super clean, yummy. Good spot for post-drinking eats - open late. Student heavy. Friendly and attentive service. Will return to try ramen and bibimbap.
Tamara H.
Update: went back this week for dinner before 6pm, which is why were seated in 10mins instead of waiting in the huge line-up that snakes around the block! The service was great, with very attentive servers. I ordered the toppoki with noodles and the beef ramen, and got to try the deep fried chicken and chicken & vegetable sauté on rice. The toppoki was way too spicy even though we ordered medium spice and I had the same issue again with the sauces being too acidic/sour/spicy, giving me instant heartburn and not really making me want to keep eating. This hasn't happened to me at other Korean restaurants in Montreal so I have a feeling it's specific to the way GaNaDaRa makes their sauces. Also, the chicken had weird pieces... obviously not chicken breast! Will not be returning because I just don't enjoy their flavours. Still better than my previous experience and I liked the beef ramen most.<br/><br/>_______________________________________________________________________<br/> Don't really get why everyone is freaking out about this place. Waited 40 minutes in the rain before finally getting a table and we were only 2 people. Food was very greasy & heavy - sending me into an immediate food coma. All the sauces gave me heartburn. In their defense, it's totally because I ordered the Tobboki Tsunami, which is deep fried craziness. All in all, not worth the line-up.
Allermanger
In one sentence, it's average. I gave it a 3.5 instead of 3 because I love Korean food. <br/><br/>Pros:<br/>(+) Affordable price point<br/>(+) Easy access/great location<br/>(+) Great selection of Korean food<br/><br/>Cons:<br/>(-) Not the best quality of food<br/>(-) Have gotten sick from eating here before<br/>(-) A little cramped in terms of space

Feel like having authentic Korean food? Need something spicy? Then GaNaDaRa is the place for you. Mainly frequented by Asian students, this restaurant boasts a wide range of Korean fare like bulgogi, bibimbap and ramen. All of which are delicious. You mu

So good!. One of the best in downtown. Fast, cheap, and suuper delicious. The staff is also friendly and hard working!
Sailormoon468
I love Ganadara because the food is always amazing! As simple as this, for comfort food that I adore. Also, the service is pretty fast and the restaurant has a cute decor. However, since Ganadara is so popular and the restaurant is quite small, there is often a queue. But let me say that the queue is totally worth it!
Kathleenii
My go-to Korean restaurant. Conveniently located on Maisonneuve near the metro, Ganadara was one of my discoveries a while ago and I always keep coming back. The prices are cheap and very reasonable, the place is quite cute but small. If you feel like having some good quick Korean comfort food, here is the place to go to! I recommend.
Miurollss
Not sure what to really think of this place but cheap, shaby and not really worth your time... Don't eat here and save your money, please. Why are people still recommending this place?
Mach
Great food (although a little bit too spicy!), great service and great prices!<br/>Great place for a quick meal.
Gely1991
Great!. I love this place! Great food and Service! I dine here almost once a week and have never been disappointed! Their Dak Tuikim chicken and Spicy Tuna sushi are two of their best dishes! :)
Gb1234
Great Korean snack food--tasty, cheap. This is one of Montreal's best Korean restaurants. inexpensive, variety. i have had seafood pajeon, spicy tuna kimbap, dolsot bibimbap, kimchi jigae, and i love this place! everything is tasty and there is sure to be something on the fairly vast menu that appeals to you--ham sushi? fried chicken dak bal? fried tofu? spicy sweet chicken wings? all is so soo delicious.
Marie-Pierre
Cute & cheap but nothing really special about the place. I found we have better korean options in Montreal.
Ilovefood
You pay for what you get. its pretty cheap. the only thing i really recommendare the kimbap the spicy tuna one. i tried the regular tuna one, their kimbap, the katsu chicken and their gyoza.
FoodieNo5
Great place to have a quick nice meal, economic yet good taste, most dishes are served as a complete meal.<br/><br/>Recently revisited the restaurant , and tried their so called premium Toboki poutine, which I believe is their own creation. Basically it is a hybrid of québécois poutine and Korean food. The poutine is topped with assortment of Korean food including bulgogi beef, bbq chicken, mussels, shrimp, squid, fake crab meat and spicy kimchi source. The poutine is mixed with melted cheese instead of cheese curds as in a typical poutine. It's indeed a unique treat.<br/>
Michelle P
Just adequate if I'm being honest. Comparatively it's better than the other Korean restaurants in the area but if I'm judging it against good Korean restaurants overall this is not that great. The kimchi pajun is a mess. The bulgogi and bibimbap are ok and probably the safest bet. The prices are not great but not as bad as maison bulgogi.
LookinForSomeGoodGrub
Yum! Tasty food on the Cheap.. The crab broth in my soup was too mild in flavours to give it the 'wow' factor I was craving, but my boyfriend's pork dish was absolutely amazing. Definitely one to return to.
Wendy Mallette
Definitely a student's place to eat, not for a foodie........ Quality wasn't great ;-( I will NOT be dinning there ever again.
Foodie_Yum
Had the toppoki, seafood pajeon and sundubu jigae. Toppoki was okay-the spiciness and sweetness is there. Seems like there was something lacking about the seafood pajeon.<br/> Subdubu jigae lacked the 'kick' it needed-a little bland and the couldn't taste the seafood in it. <br/><br/>That being said, service was friendly and no doubt the price of its dishes is student-friendly with reasonable portions.
JC
Meeh, its not amazing and it doesn't suck. But who can complain, its pretty cheap.
Sarah Smith
Surprisingly BAD. I ordered a poutine and got a really small portion. I wanted to give this place a try after all the raving reviews it got.But after tasting it, I lost my appetite. Disappointed!
Sophiesuperduper
Ridiculous.... Why are people recommending this place? <br/>Been there twice with friends, have to say that the kimchi they provided was not good at all both times, and when a korean eatery doesn't provide above-average kimchi you know you are making a bad choice......<br/><br/>I'd rather buy the oden/ramen/hot chilli paste/rice cake at local Korean supermarket and make my own....<br/><br/>All in all, sorry but I would not recommend this place.= =
Nathan
Simply amazing. I eat there every 3-4 days, the food is cheap but taste really really good. Every time I leave this place I have a smile on my face cause its always a great experience. Staff are kind and the korean music on the television make it lively.<br/>I suggest to everyone who wanna try korean food to go :)
James
I have no idea why this place has good reviews. I've never had worse food in my life. Stay as far away from this restaurant as possible!!!!!!
Harold
Wow. Great food and quite original for Montreal. I was told by a Korean colleague that GaNaDaRa serves the kind of dishes that 'young' people eat in Korea. Love the decor, the prices and the service. No wonder the place is packed every night.
Peter Kaul
Ugh, could simply eat here all day! Prime instagram material!
Chongdakis Muncher
Authentic street snacks.... This appears to be the best Korean restaruant in Montreal. We ordered korean fried chicken, rappoki, o-deng, and bibimbap. The first was an order of what felt like traditional southern friend chicken (not the usual sesame and sauce drenched Korean version), placed around a tasty cabbage salad and served with a side of sweet mustard and hot sauce. It was very, very good. The bibimbap was tasty as was the rappoki (rice cakes and ramyen in a hot sauce) and the o-deng (a fish cake soup). The place itself was packed with people, most of which were students. The food is cheap and quick and definitely the best option we have discovered thus far.

Awesome food. Everything was super tasty and the girl was very nice. Will come back for sure. I recommend this place 100% to anyone in the downtown area looking to have a quick delicious bite that won't run your wallet.

10/10 considering price. Food great, real authentic and typical shy-friendly korean staff. small portions. get 2 $5 dishes or 1 $10 dish and you'll be good to go.
Julio Liugers
Cute. The girls their are so nice! The food portion is okay but for someone who gets only satisfied at AYCE places, I had to order main dish+ side dish...
Chan-Phara Ong
Me and my bf went there for a late lunch. The restaurant is really cute and it has tv with kpop songs, The food was really delicious and yummy! The bulgogi ramyun is really good ;)

Having spent a year in SK, i Tried this place the first time today and liked it alooot. I had the bulgogi ramyun, delicious. The toppoki was ok not the best I've ever had. Excellent value, will be back.

The chicken misstep notwithstanding, this was an enjoyable and absurdly inexpensive meal. We tickled our tastebuds and distended our stomachs for a mere $36, tax included. Though I’m not sure I’d go out of my way to go back to GaNaDaRa, I will most certainly place it high on my list of inexpensive places to dine before catching a flick at the Forum. ■ - See more at: http://cultmontreal.com/2013/02/ganadara-korean-food-montreal/#sthash.Ossy8jpp.dpuf
Un Voyage Gastronomique
...we got the Seafood Pancake with Scallions. You can opt out the egg if you’re a vegan. We liked the crispy exterior but felt that the interior was a little mushy. As the pancake was quite salty on its own, we felt that the vinegar+soy sauce+sesame oil dipping sauce was an unnecessary extra (although in actual, you are supposed to dip it into the sauce before popping it into your mouth).

Eating Out Montreal
The first letters of the Korean alphabet! That's kinda cool :) Anyhoot, I'd been meaning to go there for at least one year. Yes, one year!!! So, I invited Lea and we went there today! I loves me good Korean food! Love, love , love! And so I was looking forward to this experience! We got there early because I knew it was going to get full, and fast. It's a tiny place of around 40 seats and cute little drawings on the walls. It's rather popular so 5PM was a good time! It actually got full by around 5h30PM. As soon as we got in, we sat and got a pitcher of water right away. There was a tv playing Korean music videos in the corner [that were actually quite entertaining!].  kimchi Bibimbap! The menu showed no prices... but I knew it would be cheap, according to people that I know that have been there and also according to my trusty urbanspoon! I had to have the Bibimbap, if not just to compare it to the one I had while I was in Koreatown in Toronto. It came with a little bowl of Kimchi and

Literally green onion & chicken. *Ultra crispy delicious chicken* was excellent (very different from any similar deep fried chicken in other places e.g. karage), and a bunch of thin slices of green onion was unique. Loved this dish along with delicious sauce which is shown on the bottom lest of the picture.

GaNaDaRa serves Korean street food and one-dish meals with good prices : most of them are $5-6!
Montreal Best Food Ever
GaNaDaRa is quite new in town but it is already one of my favorites Korean restaurants in Montreal. Their food is well made and most of the items in the menu are $5-7. That’s a killer combination. Not surprisingly, this nice little eatery became my top destination whenever I’m in downtown.

I expect it to be half empty, as most restaurants are past 2pm, but GaNaDaRa is busy. Busy enough to have a queue.
Glutton For Gastronomy
Ganadara is a quaint 20-40 seat restaurant, conveniently located next to Guy-Concordia metro. This place is usually pretty busy and most of the clientele is Korean, which is usually a good indication of authenticity. They were very friendly, helpful, and prices were very reasonable. For take-out I ordered the kimchi jeon (kimchi pancake), rappoki (a mix of ramyun noodles and rice cakes), and bulgogi kimbap (Korean sushi.) This picture was taken in a hurry before we finished it all so it’s not very flattering. When you go in, it’s bright and fancy-free, you can see the young staff in the kitchen, working hard; there’s K-pop playing on the tv overhead, and the place smells like home (if you grew up with the scent of sesame and fermented spicy cabbage…I’m Polish, we only had regular fermented cabbage, :p) The kimbap was a little underwhelming. It wasn’t rolled tight enough so it kept falling apart and the flavor was simple bulgogi with sesame and rice. However, it was perfect alongside th

...Now that GaNaDaRa opened its door, I can say the taste is the closest of my trip to Korea. <br/><br/>Here you can find some of the Korean classic dishes and street food. Very inexpensive, delicious and authentic food, most dishes are priced between $3-6. Perfect place for students.
Montreal Chronicles
If you like spicy Korean food they do have dishes that crank up the heat, but they also have non-spicy food that caters to people like me. In short, it's a place that I would definitely like to try again.

Cheap, unique and tasty... With a friendly staff, to boot! Can a student really ask for more?
Shut Up And Eat
We started with the Tongdak or the “Dak Balls” – a bit off putting as I actually know someone named Dak. Battered and fried chicken dressed in a sweet and spicy Korean chili sauce.

The bibimbap is served in a hot stone bowl, with rice as the base and select toppings of mushrooms, sliced carrots, bean sprouts, a bit of bulgogi and a fried egg on top. A good standard to order if you want something basic and very typically Korean.
