This place is awesome! We had dinner on their terrasse, which I must say was absolutely gorgeous and I loved the fact that they have natural light coming in from the roof. The Jicama salad, sea food platter and the sushi was just impeccable. The staff was very accommodating and attentive and always made sure you had everything you needed. I would highly recommend this place, whether you're sitting at le "comptoir" or anywhere else in the restaurant, it is impossible not to embrace the beautiful charm of Jatoba.
This is definitely a chef restaurant. The menu is a fusion between European and Japanese kitchens and the outcome is stunning. I will not go through the menu but I'll say that each dish was delicious. The place and especially the patio is beautiful. If you are visiting in Montreal do not miss Jatoba!
Had reservations for 2 on a Saturday at the beginning of February. We used the valet services as well.
The staff were great, friendly, and accommodating. The food was very fresh and tasty. We ordered a large amount of plates and they spread them out during the 2 hours of our reservations. The drinks were top notch and they were not stingy on the alcohol! Would definitely recommend and am looking forward to going back, hopefully in the summertime so I can enjoy the terrasse.
The service was excellent, and they made really nice recommendations. Their twist on the espresso martini was absolutely exquisite, and I would recommend getting the mushrooms and miso dish! The interior design is so pretty too. We were not too much of a fan of the lavender cake, but it was still interesting.
I went last night with a friend.
Jatoba has nice ambiance, and friendly staff.
For food we had
- Auburi 12/10. When the wasabi hit my tongue, I felt like I was sent to heaven. The salmon was also very delicate and soft.
- Beef Tataki with the quinoa was a perfect combination 12/10
- Fried rice with foie gras. I usually have fried rice, but never. with foie gras. Expensive for fried rice, though I assume it’s because of the foiegras. Still an interesting combo, I enjoyed the foie gras
- Drinks were also pretty good
I really enjoy Jatoba. Chef Olivier Vigneault is an absolutely charm.
My partner and I extremely enjoy sashimi. Every time we go to Jatoba, we embarrassingly order the largest order of sashimi they offer... each. It's always super fresh and expertly cut.
The other dishes on their menu are also delicious. I recommend the duck fried rice and gyoza. They also have nice cocktails. A notable favorite that has remained on their menu for a few years is the Aloha Jatoba, which is a ginger flavored cocktail.
I would recommend Jatoba to anyone looking for high quality food and an overall enjoyable dining experience. Bon appétit!
Very elegant restaurant, great service. Food is amazing but maybe slightly over priced and the chairs are unfortunately very uncomfortable that s why it gets 4 and not 5 stars
This is such a great restaurant! You can immediately appreciate its beautiful interior, from the moment you get inside. We were well greeted and we had a great experience the whole time. The waiters were very knowledgeable about the different plates and were professional.
Food-wise... Honestly, I'm speechless. Every single plate was out of this world. The Nigiri Ora King Aburi literally melts in your mouth. The Ha Gao was packed with so much flavor. The Eggplants, Maki Hamachi Taru, Gyoza and Spare Ribs were delicious. The Seabass was cooked to perfection (Just a tiny touch of seasoning would have made it perfect). The Jatoba Black Cod.... It was one of the best plates I have ever tasted. The Cod stood out from all the other plates.
I appreciate how passionate the chef is at making these different plates. He/She loves his/her job. You can see and taste it clearly.
Thank you for this great experience. This is a must-visit location. I will come back.
Jatoba was a fantastic experience! The food, drinks and atmosphere were all fantastic and definitely worth checking out.
I tried a multitude of the dumplings and they were full of flavour and came with some really good sauces. My favourite dumpling was this fried mushroom dumpling. For my main course I tried the scallops and fried rice. The scallops were cooked to perfection nice and fluffy and a beautiful sear on top. However the rice was pretty disappointing, I think it was missing a little bit of salt since it did taste a little bland.
Overall it was a good experience but a quite expensive one if I might add!
