I visit Montreal from Australia pretty much every year and can't tell you how good this place is. This year I arrived via jazz gigs at Ronnie Scott's in London, and Smoke and Smalls in NYC, and I think for atmosphere, music, sound and food, Upstairs has them all beaten. Service is exceptional, from the beaming welcome of Octavio, to the hard working wait staff. A special thanks to owner Joel and his staff, who when I called in for a sold out George Cables last night, offered me the 'boss's stool' just inside the door to catch a memorable gig. He didn't have to do that - he was sold out and I clearly wasn't going to eat any of the great food on offer. So my great respect and thanks to him for that, but that's what Upstairs is about I guess. Top marks, top spot!
I have been a patron of the Upstairs Bar and Grill for over seven years now and I have always enjoyed a good jazz or blues show together with a great meal. The upstairs has evolved over the years to become one of the top jazz venues in North America. I want to thank Joel Gyberovich for always bringing top notch performers to his club especially supporting young upcoming stars.
this is one of the greatest places I have visited! amazing atmosphere, wonderful music, delicious food and warmest service!! live music is the cherry on top
