We had a simply delightful meal at Bocata! Despite wondering in very close to closing time, the staff welcomed us. The ambiance was charming, the food was scrumptious and the wine sublime. Our server, Victoria, was magnificent. She was super knowledgeable and most gracious, never rushing us, despite the fact we were "closing" the place. The wine she recommended was amazing - Prana Rioja. We topped the night of with a delectable lemon curd tart, followed by a nip of sortilege whiskey maple. It was a perfect way to end our stay in Montreal.
This place was exactly what I was hoping to find on my first visit to Montreal. We sat at the bar, tried multiple dishes, one more delicious than the next. We ask for a wine recommendation and have not been disappointed. The staff was very friendly and knew their menu well. I highly recommend this place and will come again.
My 10-year asked me to give a 5-star rating because she enjoyed the food so much. We were out celebrating my husband's birthday from NYC and they didn't disappoint. Despite being the only child in the restaurant after 9pm, she didn't feel out of place and thought the wait staff was extremely personable. She loved both the octopus and the lobster tagliatelle; she even ate all the spinach in the dish!
Pros:
+ Great wine selection
+ Excellent service
+ We ordered burrata, octopus, lobster tagliatelle, roasted sea bass, fried doughnuts, a bottle of wine and two espresso--all of which was delicious.
+ Great date spot (very intimate ambiance)
Cons
- Smaller venue so plan in advance.
