By far, one of the best tasting menus + wine pairings I’ve had in Montreal so far! A little expensive, but well worth the price. Deliciously fresh and seasonal ingredients, paired with a delectable selection of French/Austrian/Italian whites and reds. Service was excellent. The experience as a whole was beyond my expectations!
Our experience started with the parking… it was so easy to find a spot, there’s tons practically next to the restaurant.
Food was amazing, the ingredients they use are all high quality and combinations are sophisticated and offer novelty. Their focus is on fire, smoke, grill - with the open kitchen concept it creates a cozy atmosphere for the guests. Service was warm and all their people seem knowledgeable.
Great experience, can’t wait to bring more of my friends there.
With the COVID Restrictions in place when we went there, I have to admit that the attention to details and overall experience was top notch. Food overall was 4.5 on 5, we had many dishes, only one was a miss for me. All others were good to great. Wine chosen (with help) was great choice. Service quality was impeccable.
First time coming to this location and ordered the tasting menu as I have never tried it before. For those who are hesitant on what to order, you and your table cannot go wrong with the tasting menu as each plates compliment each other.
Our tasting menu consisted of cantaloupe with goat cheese, grilled focaccia with whipped butter, sashimi with nectarine, pancetta ravioli, duck, lemon meringue and a citrusy ice cream sandwich. All dishes were great and varied in texture that made you enjoy each dish in different ways. They can also substitute certain dishes to match with each person's dietary restriction, which is very appreciative and accommodating.
The service was excellent with the staffs being attentive with our table, refilling our glasses of water and wine in a timely manner, and explaining the menus in a comprehensive fashion. The food all arrived on time, which avoids the obligation of waiting for the last person to receive their meal before eating.
If you want to have an excellent date night or a small group dinner, I highly recommend this establishment. The only thing that may deter a few people are the prices of the meals, but it is one of the few exceptions where I think the cost justifies the experience!
Along with Maison Publique, this place is worth the trek. Montréal has its fair share of “flashy” restaurants that don’t deliver on complex, detailed flavors. This place, however, brought out the tastes of Québec’s emerging culinary scene, and in delightful ways too. I was intrigued by how delicious the Érable, Pomme, Gingembre, and Sésame dessert was in the end, considering the simplicity of the ingredients.
Bravo and see you again soon!
This was our second time at Hoogan et Beaufort, and it lived up to our memory of the wonderful experience we had our first time and, again, was worth the drive from the West Island. The restaurant has a cool, foodie-chic vibe, the servers are all backed with food and wine knowledge and are very professional and attentive. The menu, although somewhat small, (and changes regularly) should not put you off as you can tell that a chef (or several chefs) put their blood, sweat, and tears into creating these dishes as each are very unique and bursting with layers of flavours and the attention to textures is upper level. You feel as if given little surprises to experience (that all go together beautifully) in each dish, and the presentation is lovely as well. If I had to make a critique, I would wish for larger portions as all were rather small (although, that being said, we often go home from date nights feeling overly full and bloated and farty. As we could certainly stand to lose several pounds…but oh how we love to eat…perhaps they’ve done us a favor providing us with quality over quantity and feeling great the rest of our date night for other enjoyable things. ;) )
Girlfriend's birthday, amazing experience. We did the tasting menu with pairing and I highly recommend the latter. Off-kilter wines which really elevated the food, which was already delicious and beautiful. Attentive staff, cool location and inspired food and wine. Bill came to around 400$ tip inclided for two, with added apps and apperitifs. Joins the short list of favorite restaurants in the city.
Exceptional experience and service! I was very impressed with every bite of the tasting menu and it's great pairing of all local products in every dish. Friendly and very knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend, great job! I will definitely be back.
