I just had the best meal of my life! 45 day dry aged rib-eye steak, the best steak I ever had. A mushroom medley to die for, with a side of roasted veggies, that were done to perfection!! God, that was good! If in Montreal, you must go!
A great place to eat and have drinks in Montreal. We were lucky enough to be there during F1 weekend and had an amazing meal outside on the patio. We then went inside and sat at the bar and watched Justify win the Triple Crown. The bartender rocked and made us some amazing drinks. Do yourself a favor and go to Maggie Oakes when in Montreal
The food is good, the restaurant is nicely decorated, but where this establishment shines is the service.
The crispy shrimps alone are worth the detour to this restaurant.
Our waiter, Nikita, seemed to be handling his numerous tables with ease and surpassed our expectations. In a context of labour shortage, we really appreciated the work of both the kitchen and the waiters.
We had three appetizers, one main and one dessert. Shrimp cocktail had a great sauce and decent sized shrimps, I recommend it.
The french onion soup was heart warming, gooey goodness, definitely recommended.
Beef tartare was delicious, I would have preferred more mustard but all in all good.
They didn't have lobster or lamb shank which was disappointing.
The 8oz flank steak wasn't the best, too chewy. I would have loved it if they offered different ounces of the flank. They were out of New York 55 days aged steak too, which made our options limited.
The cheese cake was a bit disappointing, why so small?
The one star I didn't give is because of small portions, menu items missing and not that great of a steak!
After spending a day in the old port, we searched for a family friendly restaurant. Most did not seem excited to have us - 2 families, 4 small children. We walked into Maggie Oakes and were greeted by Sasha. He smiled and genuinely seemed happy to have us. Offered us a big secluded booth. His service was impeccable and his general disposition was nothing less than perfect. He was kind, friendly, and most importantly patient with the demands of our children. We will definitely come back here. If only everyone was this accepting in a world that is so divided.
Went there on a Sunday evening before Easter. Dining room is half full. Service is great. We tried the beef and barley soup and shared tomahawk which is tender and juicy. Appreciated a free side offered by the server. Also had a couple of desserts. Great experience.
Excellent establishment with great food and service. My grandmother, mother, and I came here for breakfast. Together, we ordered two classic breakfasts and a mango pancake order. We also ordered a bowl of fruit to share. My mango pancakes were very sophisticated, served with pomegranates, cream, mango, maple syrup and some other ingredients I did not recognize. Overall, great food, just a bit pricey. If you are willing to splurge a bit, this is a great place to come in Old Montréal.
One of the best hospitalization service I have seen in Montreal, the chef/ supervisor was super friendly and welcoming each time . The food is neat well done, organized and delicious .
They choose their team work carefully what an amazing combination of waitress ...
Note: the supervisor offered wine on the house however the waitress charged that in the bill when mentioning that to make the correction, he come back and offer something else on the house again! I have question for the manager if such kind of mistake happen to one of the regular customer is that how you treat the situation ! you don’t refund the money back ! and you offer another gesture?!
That was awkward situation! We still like the place but not sure if we can go back soon!
