The restaurant was positively bustling during the weekend lunch peak. Servers were aplenty, but constantly occupied with the never-ending flow of incoming traffic. For the most part, food delivery was prompt and attitude levels were kept to a minimum. Communicating our orders was not an item of concern for us, nor the surrounding Cantonese- or Mandarin-speaking guests. For those that are looking for detailed explanations on individual menu items though, you probably won't find that here.
Dependable Hong Kong style food with a menu consisting of Yunnan vermicelli noodles in fish broth, Malaysian curry, baked rice, and Hainanese chicken to name a few. Had a bite of the Hainanese chicken and was surprised to find that it was suuuper tender and well-seasoned. Definitely one of the better Hainanese chicken I've had thus far.
The noodle soup with fish tofu on the other hand was good (sizeable portions and not overly salty) yet not very memorable. Maybe that was because I asked for mild? You only have the option to go full spicy or completely non-spicy... wish there was a medium! Luckily, the tables have jars of chilli oil so you can vamp up the broth to your liking. Many of the dishes also come with milk tea, which is nice.
I'd come back if I were ever in the area again, just to order the chicken and have it all to myself...
Ive been living in markham for 10+ years and i know my food places around here. Those people who say its avg price or avg food dont know what theyre talking about.
This place has nice food. If youre not looking for anything fancy and just the normal cafe style "cha chan tang" then this is probably one of the best in markham. Yes we are talking about markham here. The price i consider it quite expensive compare to other cha chan tangs.. u order a meal and it comes with a drink, but changing it to a cold drink.. is +$3 .. like wtf??? $3 for a drink? Other places will +1 only. Or $1.50 max.
Other places will charge you around 7.99 for a plate of rice noodles.. this place is like $8.99-10.99 for the simple stuff. Its $2 more than everywhere else. For just the usual hk style cafe food..
But on the bright side, the food is actually good. The place is clean unlike some other places in markham. When u go on weekends during lunch/dinner hours its always packed and you always have to wait like a good 20-30 minutes even though theres tons of tables. Goes to show that its pretty good. And ppl still go to it although its more expensive than the avg hk style cafe is cuz the food is actually good.
