Markham is full of restaurants and The Hubby and I are always trying out new places with his parents. Either new to us, to them or both. Recently, we stopped by Bowl Kee, a restaurant in Peachtree Plaza that has been around for years and specializes in clay pot rice bowls. The last time I had this dish was in Hong Kong last year at a small shop on the street. While the rice hotpot at Bowl Kee turned out to be quite delicious, a few of the other dishes faltered.
Hot Pot Rice. Bowl Kee has been around since the early 2000's and popular for its hot pot rice. It takes a while so its best to order it as soon as you arrive before you decide on other dishes. Vancouver crab with fried garlic is another popular dish here although I've never had it. I always order the spicy squid which they do well. If you dont plan to order hot pot rice there are better options in the plaza, eg. Power King and Keungs. It's also great for the late night crowds, open from 5pm until late (4am I think).
Lot of different kinds of clay pot rice. We have ordered pork with salty fish and ribs with Chinese sausage. Both taste very good with slightly burned rice at the boot of the pot (which is a good thing 😄). Other dishes is about the same as other Chinese restaurants. Waiting time for clay pot rice is long but you won’t be disappointed. Also you can’t stay there for too long as there are people waiting to be seated all the time.
Had some friends visiting from out town and took them here for a taste of typical Chinese food from Hong Kong.
Pot rice are okay and have decent portions. The eggplant pot was really good.
The sweet and sour pork have a good crunch to it. The pan fried squid are good.
This restaurant have always been a goto restaurant for quality food.

I love this place! It’s not a fancy looking restaurant but food was delicious every time. I prefer their food over anyone else in that area. Open till 12am so great for girls night out 🥂Clean and friendly staff 💕
Food is good with big portion. like the hot pot with fish and 腐竹. Service is great as the servers are sincere with quick response.
The owner are so friendly. It’s a busy store, yet with proper customer service. The food served is authentic and priced reasonably.
Typical Cantonese cuisine. Taste good at affordable prices. Service is very friendly.
If you love Clay Pot Rice, you may want to try this restaurant. They offer many different types of Clay Pot Rice with size for 2, 3, 4 and 6 people. They recommend to order the rick ahead as it takes 20-25mins to cook.
The restaurant is not big and they are busy, so don't expect to sit there and chit chat after you finished the meal at the busy time. Minced prok with salted fish Clay Pot rice is my favorite, however, the Chinese sauage and spare ribs with black bean sauce is also delicious. The best part is the burned rice at the bottom of the pot, it is so good.
This restaurant has been here for a long time and it's like a gem in the plaza. But also heard they switched management.
They offer more than just claypot rice. They have seafood and authentic Chinese stir fry dishes.
Chili oil was good. LLBO too.
Limited seatings, great service. Boss lady was professional and kind.
It can get loud when restaurant is full.
Can't believe they have rice in hot pot in Toronto! Visited Bowl Kee for dinner and the restaurant is nearly full. The rice in hot pots are great food for cold times! The problem is their portion, forbid you to order many taste to try. Parking is not a problem and the restaurant location is convenient. Definitely will visit again next time going to Toronto!
Tightly squeezed tables filled with patrons and a line forming out the door -- these were the first indicators that we were in for a delicious meal! We ordered a clay pot rice for 6 people; the Szechuan fish fillets (a MUST try - they slightly sweet/sour and spicy sauce was so addictive and easily made it my favourite dish!); Sweet & sour pork; beef and taro hot pot; and spicy salt fried squid. Everything came blistering hot to the table and the flavours were out of this world. The squid was cooked perfectly and it was difficult to stop eating it. The sweet and sour pork was on par with any great Chinese restaurant. It seemed like they were understaffed but the waitress would explain she'd take the rest of our order once the clay pot rice cooked a bit longer (so all the food arrived at once) - and she was friendly and attentive as she zoomed to and fro.
Highly recommend for the clay pot experience (but would suggest getting the pot for less people than you actually have so you can try all the other amazing dishes)!
