This place is for the ambience more than food for people of Indian subcontinent. If you love spicy food, this is not the place. But if you love Indian flavour and like the milder/sweet version of butter chicken and other main dishes then this place is for you. I love their corner triangle table. They were a lil slow with their service but I believe that is because the food was freshly cooked. Try it out if you are around Markham. 😊
Loved Loved Loved the place, the ambience and especially the food!!
If you are looking for an exotic din out, this is the place to go to. Generous portion and authentic indian food that will rock your palate. The bread, the chicken butter and spinach followed by a platter offering a variety of chicken equals to one word; mouthwatering!! Must try the mint chicken.Â
Must try.
Very much recommended.
Haven't been here a while. It used to be super busy here. Food wasn't bad. Didn't really like the palak paneer so much. However the butter chicken and curry goat was good. Mango lassi was good but not worth the price..close to $6. It should include alcohol with that price! Service was OK..could have come by to fill up waters more often without us asking!
There aren't many good sit down Indian restaurants but this is an exception. Personally, I like this place more than the close by The Host.
Here are a few must try:
Amritsari Goat Curry (w/ bone) - the meat was very tender, the curry was flavourful
Butter Chicken - this is a standard, good dish with a good portion of chicken
Korma (beef/chicken/lamb/shrimp) - we either got chicken or beef with this dish and the cashew nut sauce is definitely something different than your regular curry, this dish may not be very everybody because it's very creamy
We got 3 different types of naan. I have no complaints about their regular naan. Their garlic cheese naan was delicious as if you're eating a pizza. However, I was most disappointed with their garlic naan. It was partly burnt and it was still served to us. For the extra price I had to pay for the garlic naan, I expect to not have to throw out any part of the bread.
A very impressive place. Delicious north Indian food. Went on lunch ,, limited daily lunch options. Very trained a mannered staff. Will surely go back.
TK ordered the butter chicken poutine with naan where the naan was a huge piece that was the size of a head! It was impressive. The little bowl of butter chicken poutine was a little small, but turned out to be perfect for just one person because it really does fill you up.
Delicious!. Went here out of a recommendation from the desk clerk at the Hilton Garden Inn (next door). The reviews left me a little skeptical especially the one regarding the "watered down" Indian food and naan that you'd get at your local "supermarket". Fortunately, this reviewer was very wrong. I ordered their butter chicken with rice, a side of naan bread, and two samosas. All were beyond my expectations and very flavourful. The order was heat-sealed, as well, for take-out, which I've never seen before. Well done! After opening it was hot and fresh. The only negative was the dirty take-out waiting area which was unkept and the chairs were stained. I would return here without a doubt!
Never go again!. We made a reservation for 7 and received a confirmation. When we arrived they were clueless. Finally got seated and waited 10-15 minutes before anyone came to take our order.
Took 20 minutes for appetizers, then 3 of 7 received their entrees. Only after asking the waiter, did we receive the remaining entrees 30 minutes later. They forgot party of the order.
They were under staffed and what staff was there, was clueless. No-one seemed to be in charge. Food was good, portions were small.
We've eaten here before and had positive experience. It was a special event and we were embarrassed to have chosen the restaurant. Will never return.
Really some good food!. This place has been serving good food consistently, again & again. Try out butter chicken with Garlic naan.. the best in Toronto!
THE best butter chicken ever!!! I travel from Durham Region just for this dish! It is that good! Waiters are very friendly, service can be painfully slow when they're busy but so worth it. Rice is so fragrant and yummy too. Thali's at lunch are packed with goodness; definitely a must try. You will keep going back for more!
This is by far the best Indian restaurant in the city. All their dishes are excellent and consistent.
Favourite Indian restaurant EVER! I always order butter chicken, and samosas with naan. They used to have saag but they took it off the menu. I also like the vegetable curries with cottage cheese cubes in them. I like that the restaurant is very clean. I highly recommend this place :)
Consistently Impressive North Indian. E: I have had dinner and lunch at Bombay Bhel (Bombay 'rice crisps' which I do not believe is on the menu) easily over a dozen times and cannot recall being disappointed.
The food is consistent across the chain and on any visit. I'll pick up on this topic at the end of this review. Bombay Bhel has a varied menu comprised of appetizers, vegetarian dishes, mixed dishes, grilled meat and curried stews served with rice or naan.
Everything is enjoyable, in adequate quantity and tasty. The food never looks or tastes either watered down or greasy.
The beef or vegetarian samosas are light-ish and come with plenty of sauce. On a recent occasion I asked the waiter for 'poppadum'( whatever that is) and they had it. I am rather certain it is not on the menu.
As far as mains, one can barely go wrong. Tandoori chicken is full bodied and well done, as is the chicken lollipop, although the former is likely much healthier than the latter. Masala means 'spice' in Hindi, but it is the vindaloo dishes that are the spiciest. Whether Masala or Vindaloo one can order beef, lamb or chicken at Bombay Bhel, while shrimp is available as a vindallo or karahi. The masala is creamier, while the karahi is served and readied in an iron wok. This last item is my regular, but nothing else has disappointed here. Their sauces and mixture of onions, tomato, peppers and spices hit the right note.
Very importantly, they use good basmati rice. Compare their rice to that used at Host Indian Buffet across the street and the contrast is obvious. Even the stews is less watery and more full-bodied at Bombay Bhel. Indian food cannot help but be heavy, but the lighter and quality rice helps the meals. The restaurant offers its meals with either naan (baked bread) or rice. I choose rice and ask that they hold the potato in the curry. Incidentally, the stand-by staples, curry and butter chicken, are also on the menu.
A former co-diner of mine discovered the thali which is a mixed tray featuring appetizer, tandoori chicken, choice of meats, rice, yogurt and more. She seems to like it, but it probably has something to do with perceived value of this platter as well.
As drinks they offer salty or sweet or mango lassi. These yogurt mixes are no dogs, but priced expensively presumably to add margin to the restaurant's bottom-line.

A: The restaurant in Thornhill is simple with a few tables, booths, partitions dividing the premise to north and south and thematic walls and table tops.
It is always clean and could get noisy during the popular hours.
At night, the lights are set low for better ambiance.

T: The service is neither fast nor slow. The issue in this plaza is parking. One likely needs to park behind the restaurant and a five-minute walk away. Bombay Bhel is adjacent to Hero Burgers (went once years ago and felt greasy for weeks afterwards), Baton Rouge (another big miss based on one visit several years ago) and several Asian restaurants. I believe the Shawarma joint closed down a while back. All these businesses contribute to the scarcity of parking.
The food arrives within a reasonable time and so does the bill, but one has to successfully flag a waiter first.

S: They have a fairly accommodating attitude in Thornhill. Once seated they are happy to take one's order and accommodate modifications.
Their take-out counter is also friendly and happy to help. On occasion I have chatted with both the wait staff and the take-out and cash employees and they have been happy to answer questions and talk about the restaurant.
I have visited several Bombay Bhel locations and the food has been uniformly consistent and good. They are a chain, but hardly corporate. Still, it is amazing how their dishes taste the same and maintain their quality across different locations. With different kitchens and different cooks at different locations one wonders how similar and uniform the dishes are from one location to the other. Kudos for both quality and consistency to Bombay Bhel.
Worth the hype. Several friends have been telling me about this restaurant for the past several years as I have been a loyal Host patron. They kept on pressuring me to visit the restaurant with them so that they could put both restaurants to the test. To be completely honest I was pleasantly surprised. The staff were friendly but not too friendly where it becomes annoying. When they brought out the food I was honestly shocked because I could see a difference in quality from most other Indian restaurants that I have been to, specifically The Host. As soon as I took my first bite I noticed the subtle differences that my friends have been raving about for the past 2 years. The food was not oily or heavy. And the real taste of each individual dish that we ordered was mind blasting. As a group we sampled the butter chicken, lamb vindaloo, palak paneer, and the chicken tika masala. Even though my friends beat me this time, it was worth the loss because I no call Bombay Bhel my favourite indian restaurant in the GTA.
Favourite Indian restaurant in the city. Palak paneer is personal preference. Good value, friendly staff.
Best Indian spot north of the city. Eaten here too many times to count and am never disappointed. Lamb vindaloo with a mango lassi is a go-to dish, but go with friends and try as much as you can.
One of the best Indian places around. For me the Lamb Vindaloo and Karai Chicken are the best on the menu. Also they have a deepnfried bread which is light and fluffy and goes really well with a shrmip masala. Samosas are also good. Butter chicken is not so hot - I find it too rich and anymore than a small bite is overwhelming.
One of the better Indian restaurants in GTA. Love their chutney's and especially their Bhel puri. You can even order online. Not much ambiance in the restaurant but the food is worth it!!
The one in Oakville is better than the Thornhill location, but for hearty, family style Indian food, look no futher than THE BHEL!
