Deer Garden Signatures has two locations on the East End: one in Richmond Hill and the other along the Scarborough/Markham boundary. Situated in the same plaza as Aka-Oni, this location is larger in comparison to their Times Square spot and capable of seating approximately twice the volume. The decor featured the same black booths, white, glare-prone tables, and multi-coloured scale-like wall graphic; an interesting, Ripley's-esque fish design swirled along the perimeter of the lofty ceiling and in the centre of the dining area.
Majority of the group opted for customized noodle bowls, while I, being the least hungry, decided to try their club sandwich combo instead.
Heard a lot of great things so I finally decided to come here and give it a try. We went during lunch on a Saturday and the restaurant was busy but the wait wasn't long at all. I ordered the Peanut Sauce and Chili Soup Paste with Egg Noodles, Sliced Beef, Fish Balls and Beef Tendon. I love how you can customise your own noodles with so many different combinations. This soup base was quite delicious. For appetizers, we also ordered the Deep Fried Pork Chop and it was a good deal for $1.95 with decent portions. For the drink, I ordered the Hong Kong Style Milk Tea. Can't wrong with that when you dine at Asian restaurants. Overall, it was a great dining experience and would definitely go back again and again.
The broth is creamy and rich but has a lighter quality to it since there’s not an ounce of grease in sight. It’s the type of soup that you want to continue drinking even after the noodles are done and won’t leave you feeling parched an hour later.
For those who don’t enjoy seafood, rest assured it’s not fishy; plus there’s always white pepper at the table that helps to mellow out the flavour. Their noodle combos are the way to go – just pick up a slip of paper and check off the soup base, noodle type, toppings and drink you’d want. It’s a satisfying portion of food for only $8.75.
With five fish soups, for my first taste the plain original option seemed to be the way to go. My mom had the tomatoes and pumpkin one, which completely changes the flavour profile with the freshness of the vegetables: it’s good
I really enjoyed the fish puffs; they were sooo juicy since it soaked up all the flavour of the fish soup and was a delight to eat. The sliced beef were cooked just right and not rough at all. The fish balls were so-so; not bouncy enough for my taste as they probably were the frozen ones and not freshly handmade.
This is the newest location of Deer Garden, a Hong Kong Style Cafe franchise from Vancouver specialize in Fish Soup.
You pick the combination ($8.75)
Soup base
Noodle
Toppings (first 2 are included and any extra is $1.50 each)
Choice of drink
The broth always serves burning hot, so be really careful. I always order the fish broth base but there are also chicken based or even spicy one you can choose from.
Make sure to ask for the house made xo hot sauce.
There are also set set which are not soup noodle to choose one. A great place to come with picky eaters as they can customize their own meal.
I usually here for their late night special with a combo at $6.95 that includes a drink! Such a good value!

This soup and sandwich place is pretty good and light on the pocket. The interiors of this place are different and there is quite a lot of sitting space.
The service is good and friendly and more importantly fast.
The fish soup and sandwiches that we had were pretty good. Can do with a bit more of spices and flavors.
Overall a pretty decent place for a snack or two.

I've been to this establishment several times in the past and once or twice at the Don Mills location. I thoroughly enjoyed the different combinations of soup broth, noodles and most of all the double choice of either meats and vegetables that one could choose from is outstanding. To accompany the soup noodles you can have a free hot/cold beverage. This time round, I paired the ginko nuts with pepper broth for a spicy kick to your taste buds, egg noodles as well as sliced beef and fish fillets. The beverage was almond milk just like an after lunch/dinner dessert.
Overall, the meal was delicious and the almond milk was sweet.
I only wish they had more meat but good for a light meal and I recommend trying the tomato based broth next time with free addictive, small, side orders of their chilly shrimp sauce.
$15 per person combo for the noodle + drink! My absolute favorite is the rice noodle (usually hor fun too, but they always seem to run out at night) with the spicy mala soup. It’a amazingly packed with beef and squid, the broth comes with cabbage naturally.
This is my go to spot when I’m craving a hot bowl of noodle soup because the taste is so authentic here. It never disappoints.
One of my go-to noodle places in Toronto. You can build your own noodle bowl and portion size isn't bad. I recommend this place!
Good food, very good combos. Meals come with drinks. Build your own soup noodle bowls, or order their daily special.
So delicious! I got the Malay soup with beef and king oyster with egg noodle. Nice coconut hints in the soup! For the drink I got the cold milk tea with coffee and bubble! So tasty! Highly recommend!
Very good and plateful, but the price has gone up again $14.25. Served super hot and fresh.
Tldr: Can't go wrong with this place.
Cheap and tasty, this place is one of my goto places if I couldn't think of any other stuff to eat. Any kind of combination wouldn't go wrong. This place is one of the oldest restaurant in the plaza and I think it is still one of the best places to go.
