My first time here went so well, I ended up ordering more food to-go, for later. Have you tried the schezwan squid yet? You should! Parking was free and plentiful. It is a nice homestyle family restaurant.
Ah, Golden Lion. Pretty decent for Chinese food. The quality of the food is good, service is good. Although it all tends to be quite heavy, it's a good hangover food!

Tasty!. I have ordered takeout here and the food is pretty darn good. They do the standards well and make a mean ginger chicken. My counter person/server was great. I will be back.
I love their food. I lived off their won ton soup for a long time when I was sick and unable to eat. Staff is very nice too.
Never disappoints. Golden Lion is our go-to restaurant for Chinese food. Take out is always fast and the food is good.The restaurant itself isn't fancy, but the service is good. Great place to feed a crowd and not break the budget.
Ginger Beef. Golden Lion has the best ginger beef I've ever found in Victoria. It is really saucy and has softened onion and carrot shreds in it. Service is always excellent and fast!
This was my first Chinese experience since coming to Westshore and I was pleasantly surprised. I had heeded the comments of fellow Urbanspooners who said to make sure your order did in fact contain everything purchased. Which it did. The staff were very nice and the food was delicious, cheap and of a good portion size. I will definately order from here again.
We have been eating in and getting take-aways from here for years and can honestly say we have never, ever had bad food or service. We've tried other places, some much more expensive, but they're never as good. We have 2 boys, now teenagers, and this is an inexpensive way to feed the family. I notice that some people who don't like this place are complaining about min $45 for delivery, but with the price of petrol, who can blame the restaurant? Don't be lazy, go get your own food! This place is awesome and in fact, we're off there tonight with my 90 year old mother who also loves it.
This place is really nice. they did some renos and it looks decent inside but they have really good food. I enjoyed it very much, they were fast and worth every penny. We live in Sooke so we ordered take away another time and when we got home the food was still warm and just as tasty. for those who complain about not being able to use debit for delivery - it says so on the menu and even so chinese food do not go bad if you put it in the fridge and heat up the next day. I must say it was equally good the next day for us. just to point out the the sczechuan chicken is fried and there is no sauce with it. Overall Really good chinese food.

I've been eating this food for a very long time. Saturday night the power was out but luckily GLR still had power. Order a dinner for 4 and waited in the parking lot for it. Normally I do not expect a lot from take out, any take out but they did it up right and it was great. Thanks Gold Lion.
Of all the Chinese food places I've visited from the island to Metro Vancouver and Fraser Valley, this place is by far the best.
Salt and pepper prawns have chili pepper (not black pepper) and we were talking about them the next day they were so good. Wonton soup is also amazing, large portion size great for sharing with a group.
This is one of my favourite places to eat....I luv the food , every dish I've ordered was so tasty, they make one of the best almond chicken dishes, great people, fun and light atmosphere its a must try eat there or order in ...yum
