Had dinner there last night! The service was great and the owners came over and introduced themselves as well as very personable staff! Amazing Sushi, I highly recommend this restaurant!
In this University town of Kingston, discovered this amazing sushi place... the place is very cozy and friendly. The sushi rolls are out of this world. If you are looking for having sushi rolls and some sashimi, you have to visit this place.
Wow! Who knew that you could get such good INEXPENSIVE sushi in Kingston, AND get such terrific service to boot!
Despite a full house on a Saturday night, we were seated in a few minutes. The waitress and everyone else who served us - including the maitre d' - were friendly, attentive and very competent (a step or two above most of the other servers we've had in Kingston). They were also really fast, despite the restaurant being packed and the take-out orders that kept coming in.
Our sushi exceeded our expectations. My husband's "chef's deluxe special" was so large he almost didn't finish it. It was only $18! I enjoyed a gorgeous and tasty vegetarian dish called "Pink Flowers". My green tea was free, and they kept refilling my tea cup. Our bill was only $40.51 w/o tip. Needless to say, I tipped them well.
This place is a real gem!
One of my favourite places for sushi by far! Everything is fresh and delicious and the portion sizes are great. The location is small for eating in the restaurant but if you can, choose a table near the window for more space. Take out won't disappoint either!
It's a really pretty restaurant and it's super packed.
I've been hearing SO MANY positive things about that place. Perhaps my expectations were too high. But it wasn't too true to it's reputation.
The prices were too expensive for it's size.
I liked the waiters there. The outfits were adorable!
Overall, a good restaurant but overpriced/hyped.
It is sometimes with a heavy heart that you write some reviews and that can be said of this article. It is the last one of the year, a closure of sorts for me and a renewal for the year ahead. As I have mentioned before our experiences in life are sometimes affected by our head space at the moment. Our adventures eating out can go two ways. Sometimes it has nothing to do with the restaurants we frequent, but the people we are with, the ambiance, the conversations that ensue and our mood at the moment.
Fresh sushi, amazing quality and reasonable prices! Service is on point even if is packed!!
This is my go to sushi restaurant in Kingston!!!
The sushi is very fresh and the quantity you get for the price is fantastic, you get good service for a small restaurant!
This is our go-to sushi restaurant in Kingston!
Sima
Sushi is a busy place and they are always line ups outside the door. This was
the case this evening and without reservations, it can be a wait. We gave our
name and went for a walk up Princess Street to revisit some of the boutiques
and novelty shops I had visited on my last time here three years ago. After Clergy St. Not much was to be seen and
we headed back to Sima Sushi as our table was ready. The hospitality and
service at Sima Sushi is like no other. Our waitress Mina was exceptional; she
helped us with our choices and made great suggestions. Her contagious smile and
sweet voice, unwavering politeness brought back belief that humanity is good
and there are still good people out there. The decor at Sima Sushi is
unpretentious and casual, a small place seating 28 people, it is easy on the eyes
with opposing burnt red walls and exposed brown grey brick wall. At the back
long sushi counter where the sushi chefs create their art. Typical of many
sushi restaurants, with the exception of the wood tables, chairs and floor
giving it a country rustic feeling. We started our meal with a Sapporo beer -$4.95
and lychee juice-$ 2.75. A good start
for a warm day .Brains started with ordering the Sushi Dinner-A at $ 13.95,
which consisted of Miso Soup and a Green Salad with Yuzu dressing and 6 pieces
of sushi and 6 California rolls. I can’t say much about food presentation, the
salad portion was not generous it consisted of two carrot rounds, three lettuce
leaves and a half slice of tomatoes and cucumber, with a dollop of yuzu
dressing, shaken not stirred .But then it was a teaser to the start of the
meal, and probably meant to be that way, I believe it would have been better
served alongside the sushi to compliment the
sushi and sashimi which were super fresh. It came served on a simple
white plate with no accoutrements; no wasabi, no sliced marinated ginger.
Nonetheless, Brains was pleased.I ordered of course the Rock Star-$ 10.95 which
consisted of 8 pieces of Shrimp tempura, spicy salmon, avocado, and cucumber and
fish egg. This was a great palate pleaser and very fresh as well, it made I
feel like a Rock Star and the staff made us feel really special. I am the
proverbial Rock Star mom (to a few) although lately I don’t feel like that but
I must say this dish boosted my ego and my mood for a moment. I forgot the
present and thought of my past accomplishments. So uplifting, I thought, that
some food & good words can have this effect.SIMA Sushi focus is on “simple foundations of
quality ingredients, exciting dishes, at fair prices” They hit the mark with
their assortment of sushi, sashimi, rolls and cooked Japanese dishes, a warm
locale and great service. Three years in and they are still going strong; the
line ups are long and the food consistent.
A must try for any sushi lover when in Kingston and locals alike. We
left with a good feeling and energy to walk around the waterfront contemplating
life in Kingston. So easy we thought, this small town life with no stress is so
soothing for the soul and the morale. Albeit a heavy heart this was a real moment
to cherish and a new good memory to add to my book of pleasant adventures.
It's definitely one of the better restaurants for sushi! But it's also one of the pricier restaurants too. They are usually busy around dinner time so I recommend reserving a table or just going a bit early!
Also, if you are going for lunch, I highly recommend getting the Sima Lunch Set. It's a great value for your dollar!!
I have been here a few times and always love it. The sushi is fresh and they have some unique maki rolls. I had the salmon love love roll which was uber tasty- though very large and each piece was worthy of two bites!
Good quality sushi in Kingston, but very overpriced compared to sushi in the rest of the country. Spicy salmon salad is delicious with a good amount of salmon piled on top!
Ordered takeout for the first time from here, and we all agreed the food was AMAZING! Definitely highly recommend the Dynamite dragon, and the double torched spicy roll was out for this World, the Yam tempura roll was excellent!
Ordered for the first time (Uber eats delivery!) I’ve been on the hunt to find really good sushi. THIS IS IT. the pieces are BIG! i thought two rolls would tie me over but I just finished one and I’m stuffed! I got the dynamite & Philadelphia roll to test the waters and I am not disappointed. I will be ordering more! Since it was delivery I will add they added lots of wasabi and soya sauce (7 packets each!) and everything was tied securely to go in a plastic bag!
Ordered takeout from them tonight. The sashimi and nigiri taste fresh. Ikura (salmon roe) is always my fav. Undoubtedly the best sushi house in Kingston.
Hands down, the best sushi in downtown kingston. The portions are very generous. The rolls are always consistent and delicious. It’s my Friday evening take out weekly.
Hands down the best sushi (in my opinion) in Kingston. Amazing service, fresh product, and always a consistent and enjoyable experience. Always my go to when I need a sushi fix.
Friendly staff, good service and nicely decorated.
Salmon teriyaki very tasteful, salmon was juicy and very smooth. Delicious!
Sake roll on the menu mentions only salmon, but it's actually prepared with cucumber+salmon. If you want the roll prepared only with salmon, double-check with the server before ordering it.
Good place for sushi, sashimi, rolls and teriyaki. :)
If you are looking for vegan sushi in Kingston, go here!! Their pink flower roll is my favourite, it is the most flavourful and delicious sushi I have ever tried. It is made with yam, beet, asparagus, avocado, and cucumber in pink rice paper! Definitely a highlight on the menu. Their avo-Q roll, shiitake mushroom roll, and miso soup are other favourites of mine. Also, the mugs they put green tea in are so adorable! Great place.
