We are regular customers of the west end diner. We have never had a bad meal there. I have a sensitive stomach and oil bothers it, eating at the diner has never been a problem for me. Whether i have a veggie omelette, or chicken soulvlaki on a pita, which is delicious, or even once in a while, chocolate pancakes, i have never had a stomach reactions to any of their food. Their portions are large, their prices are reasonable. You do have to line up early on the weekend, but it is worth it. Of yay, i almost forgot, what about that montreal smokes meat sandwich, add a second sandwich for .25 cents, or 50 cents, and it comes with a side dish as well! What a deal!
Have been there several times and is generally good: large portions, comfort diner-style food. Not gourmet but the place is good for what it is.
Went here for breakfast with my daughter. It was Saturday morning and it was packed. There were 4 group ahead of us and we had to wait 20 mins to get a table. A lot of the people there knew the hostess and waitresses which is a great sign.
Atmosphere- The place is a simple family style place with a combination of tables and booths (some 2 seater booths available. Nothing fancy with kitchen at the center.
Food- My Greek omelette was full of feta cheese. It was excellent. The fried potato were seasoned nicely but a little soft for me. I like them with more of a crispness to them. This was served with baked beans which I thought was an odd addition. I think something lighter like sliced tomatoes or a few pieces of fruit would work better. My daughter had 2 sides- french toast - really tasty bread but it is a shame they do not serve real maple syrup. The fruit bowl was not the fruit cocktail variety but it was fresh cubes of melon, honeydew, grapes and pineapple. Very nice.
Service- The waitress was very friendly. She had our drinks quickly . We asked for and received promptly large glasses of water with lemon (without asking for lemons - ( I love that) I did ask for jam for my toast and she forgot to bring it until the end of the meal. It was so thing that could easily be missed especially since it was so busy. She noticed at the end and apologized for forgetting but I would not hold that against her.
Impression- My daughter has taken a liking to try breakfast places which have not been my routine . However, I think she will ask to go back.
