The food was excellent, service was great when we got it... The atmosphere was lacking... We were in a very dark corner. We need flashlights to read the menu. Prices were reasonable.
This is a great place for a quiet lunch in the park. If you are traveling or meeting with people with sensory issues, this might be a good choice - it is neither bright nor noisy. The panini selections are all delicious. Unfortunately the restaurant is often quite chilly. The wait staff is very friendly and helpful, but the food is not exceptionally fast. The team is quite honest - we have arrived and been told they are short-staffed and how long the wait is likely to be - very helpful information on a lunch break!
Update to below post! The quality and taste of food are still excellent and they must have added additional kitchen staff as wait time was much improved.

The food here is excellent! However, be aware that this is a restaurant where patience is required. The chef really takes his time to prepare your meal so on busy nights you may be there for a couple of hours. So if you are in a hurry this may not be for you!
It was several years since I had a meal at La Cucina and it was at their Dartmouth Crossing location. I enjoyed the meal very much but lived in Bedford, so did not get a chance to return.
My granddaughter was visiting recently and she felt like having Italian food for supper. La Cucina has had a location in Bayer's Lake for a number of years but there is an abundance of good restaurants in the area and I do not eat out often.
We arrived at the restaurant around 7pm on a Saturday and several groups of people had just left with a half dozen tables still occupied. Our server was very pleasant and helpful with suggestions for our meal. Our orders arrived quickly and were very tasty. I will definitely go to LA Cucina again, soon. They also have a great lunch deal for $10. A different choice every day. Highly recommend it!
There was a storm and we were the only ones there. It was lovely, the food was delicious and prompt. It wasn't overly noisey like some restaurants can be and they were lovely with our toddler. They lose one star only because the were no change tables in the washrooms. A great spot for families.
Just happened on this place by accident but was really happy that I did. The decor is amazing, the service is commendable and the food is delicious. This is not an Italian-American restaurant but is more of an authentic Italian restaurant so if you like Italian food like East Side Mario's this is not the place for you. The food is more about real flavors (those of the ingredients) than just drowning everything in garlic, salt, sugar and cheese. A real gem of a restaurant in Halifax. The portions were generous and the service is like that of a family restaurant. I will be returning for another visit soon.
The meal and the service was wonderful. They changed the menu up a bit since the last time I was there, but they still had gnocchi which made me happy. They had a highchair for my daughter which made it a lot easier for me to eat. Will be going back sometime for sure.
Reasonable prices, nice staff, solid pasta. I find the atmosphere nicer in the evening, as it can feel a little too bright and hollow with too much day light. All things considered, it's your best bet for pasta without going downtown and for a reasonable price.
Food is delicious, service is friendly and atmosphere is great for a date night. I do wish they had more vegetarian options as the selection in that area is quite sparse. Location is convenient most of the time and plenty of parking.
Great food, wonderful and friendly staff, great location. Lots of parking available, although the area can be busy on weekends/evenings. I've been to this location several times over the years and it's been a great experience every single time.
