Food is deeply intertwined with culture, and culture cannot exist without people. During my recent dining experience, I forgot to ask for the name of our server. However, I must mention that she treated us like her own family and ensured that we received the same level of service as everyone else. She even went out of her way to share Chinese culture with guests from other nationalities. I overheard her telling the other table about Chinese-style candy, and it was heartwarming to see her spreading cultural awareness. I definitely will be back here, not only for the food but also for the people and atmosphere. Thanks

Lovely and delicious restaurant! If you're looking for a fusion food experience, top notch service, quick but quality food, come here! All the items we had ordered were very tasty. The spicy dishes are nicely balanced and not over powering. The space is well used and very clean. Be wary about the amount of food you order, they are generous with the portions. The dishes aren't overly expensive and you'll leave a happy person!

This spot is in my top 3 best Chinese restaurants in Halifax. A family-run operation, the service can feel like you're over at a friend's house with playful and informative suggestions. I usually get sauteed pork with jalapenos, cumin lamb, chestnut chicken, and mapo tofu. I really recommend going here with at least 4 people so you can get a bunch of dishes and try everything. Having just one dish would be a little underwhelming, so bring friends! Coming here for Lunar New Year is really special, they do Cantonese BBQ duck, a memorable experience.

We came on the opening day so it was extremely busy (as to be expected). Even though we did end up waiting a while for the food, it was well worth the wait. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and the portion sizes were generous. The staff was really busy as the restaurant was never not full but we're all very friendly. The prices were on point and the venue was very clean. We will definitely be coming back.

5/5 stars! Hong Yun's food, atmosphere and customer experience, all in unison, is namely one of the best in Halifax. My Chinese friend said their food reminds him of his hometown. The Red's customer service is somewhat Asian style, meaning they might not pamper you with "how's everything?" every 15 minutes, but their staff are available whenever you have questions, comments or requests. With international friends I came to eat here too and we always had a great time here. No need to say I am a regular to this restaurant for several years in a row. Chicken dishes may have bones but that's Chinese style cooking; ask before ordering! But try their "Beef with eggplant" with some rice. Highly recommended.
Food Vacation
Extremely authentic place with lots of Szechuan dishes. If you try some of the less familiar dishes you will not be disappointed. One such dish worth trying is the Szechuan sour pickled fish soup. It is absolutely delicious!!!
It is a convivial place where style of service reflects the idea that plates will be shared and enjoyed amongst all. Not all dishes arrive at once necessarily but they need not. The food is so delicious you will want to savor it.

I always come here and have been for a while. The portion sizes are pretty large, lots of indoor dining space and a lot of options to choose from on the menu. The golden fried tofu is a great appetizer to share with friends and family!

We enjoyed several authentic dishes, including the hot and sour beef stew and Szechuan sour pickled fish soup. This is the best food we had in Halifax and among the best of any meal in some time.

Best and most authentic Chinese food in halifax. They have a great delivery system through their website, and when dining in service is always wonderful and the staff are very helpful. Highly recommend the jalapeño pork belly dish and red spicy eggplant!

We ordered take out and loved it! We got the green onion pancake, Japanese style eggplant, spicy beef fried rice noodle, and the black mushroom stir fried tofu. We'll definitely be back!

Found this little place when walking by one day and decided to give it a try. WOW. This place was beyond my expectations! Nothing like the plain old "Western Chinese stuff", the menu is actually authentic!

My Chinese co-worker recommended this place and I'm glad we went. Food is authentic Chinese and even though the dishes were heavy on the sauce, each had a distinct savoury flavour.
It's also well priced because of the portion size. There was 6 of us and we ordered 6 dishes + white rice + 2 drinks and we were all stuffed with a bit of take home. Our bill was only short of $150 including tax, but excluding tip.
Service was great and the owners/servers were very pleasant. They paid attention to our needs, more water and napkins, etc. without having to ask for them; they just knew and they delivered! Sooo much better than getting interrupted asking "how is everything and do you need anything?".
The restaurant has a nice ambiance and it's clean, including the bathrooms. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and we will definitely go back!

We went here for a Father's Day gift. We were not disappointed. The food was amazing. Do not expect Westernized Chinese food, this is authentic Chinese. The Service was fast and friendly. The servings are generous, we took home our leftovers. This is a must if you want to try Authentic Chinese. A real Halifax Gem.
