Come for the cider, stay for the cheesecake!
When you settle in for a quick flight and some lunch in a rainy Tuesday afternoon and it turns into lots of tastings and absolutely fantastic food you know you found a winner.
Work with the staff to understand what kind of cider you like, chill out in the great space and try the cauliflower tacos. Fish and chips are a hit and so are the loaded fries (mix them up, add some salt).

Food is fabulous, worth the visit alone. Yet they add in some fantastic options for cider, seltzers and beers. Now consider staying for Bingo!
The bathrooms are well thoughtfully designed and clean.

Their ciders are quite tasty and more varied than I expected. I also liked the view of the canning process right when you walk in, very cool to see behind the scenes. However, the oysters were not great - sauces were nice but the oysters were small and lacking in flavour. There was also a slight issue with the preparation, as there were some shell shards that got into our mouths - nothing dangerous but unpleasant nonetheless. Grab some cider and skip the oysters.

Popped in here for a bite and some drinks after work on Friday. It is a typical establishment for this area. Rough, barn-like ambiance, and furniture. Very casual, but the food was fantastic. The drinks were ok. Their cider specials were not our favourite, but I thought the food was very delicious and unique. We ordered the chicken and fries with the beet and goat cheese salad. I thought both were very impressive, although my husband thought the chicken had way too much hot spice. I loved it though, so order for your taste. The staff was friendly and very enthusiastic about the business, and we discovered that the kitchen was an entirely separate business from the Chain Yard Cidery.

Great ciders! A good variety to choose from made in-house and guest taps too. Kitchen was slow, and seemed overwhelmed dispite the taproom being about half full. Not sure how they'd handle a big night. I think if the food service was fixed, this place would be amazing!

I have Celiac disease. This is the first time I've had fried chicken that was completely safe for me since my diagnosis. It was delicious and made me so so so happy.
We also enjoyed a flight of awesome ciders and the stellar service! Would give 6 stars if I could.

Great spot with so many cider options. It was hard to choose just one! Their food was delicious! A little on the pricey side. I was going into it thinking it was pub prices but the portions were pretty big. I wished they had more photos of their food to help me decide… so hopefully I can help you :)

Recently went in for a birthday dinner, food was AH-MAZING. My friends and I couldn't stop raving about it. Service was great, waitress was attentive and super sweet. And as always atmosphere was great!

This place opened in May 2017 and I finally got a chance to drop in.
I had the Oysters (loved them). They serve it with A bourbon spritz, which was really a good touch. I also had the Brisket Burger, which was so moist it was dripping. I didn't even mind the mess because it tasted so good. The Frites had a really good seasoning to them and it came served with aioli. No ketchup needed! Always A good sign.
They have a different special on everyday which they post on their Instagram, and usually have a different special on for lunch and dinner, so variety is a great factor here.

Was taken back by how delicious the brisket Burger was. Not to big not too small. From the first to the last bite was a explosion of juicy goodness. Recommend asking for the house made hot sauce to dip your UK seasoned fries. Large variety of own ciders and ciders from in and around Halifax.

Unbelievable cidery in the city with delicious ciders. The atmosphere is very relaxed and they serve some amazing food. I have never had a bad meal or experience here. The staff is fantastic. Love it here.

The cider is great but Omg the food! The burger might be the best I've had in years, the fried chicken poboy is fantastic and the fries come with this dill pickle aoli that is so damn good.
The jambalaya is fantastic with just a nice amount of spice with crispy chicken, big shrimp and sausage through it.
The best thing though is the burger, the burger might be the best I have had in years, the meat is tender and simply pulls away from the patty.

Chain Yard is a great new spot that I have tried a few times and highly recommend. Awesome staff, atmosphere, quality, and value. Unchained kitchen has a great menu to compliment the ciders on tap as well. You can even purchase some of your favourite ciders as well as branded merchandise to enjoy at home. Gotta love the one stop shopping and supporting local!

Ate here last night. Food was awesome and the service was top notch! They made sure my meal was gluten free as I’m Celiac. Loved being able to sample the ciders(try a flight if you get a chance).

On our stay in Halifax, it is the only place we went twice! The Cider was super-delicious and the mussels dish and the deep-fried Ikea and asparagus dish were delicious. For each local brewery there needs to be a Cider House like Chainyard!

It was my first visit to this very relaxed bar/restaurant. I was intrigued by all the comments about the Smoking Gator Hawg burger for Burger Week so ordered up one. Service was excellent as I took my table for one at the bar. Though very busy I was served within minutes of my arrival and the Local Cider was the perfect accompaniment. I’ll definitely be back. Was an excellent burger.
