Went in for the burger week burger! It was delicious! The peanut butter was crunchy and melted perfectly, the bacon was the perfect combo of crunch and chewy and the burger was absolutely juicy and delicious. Also highly recommended the milkshakes, there wasn't one table I could see that didn't have one!

First time eating there over the weekend. Was there with family as my sister in law has taken us there. She recommended the peanut butter burger. It sounded weird at first but she said try it you'll love it. So I got it and the next time I'm in the city (Halifax) I'll be stopping in again. The burger was great. I'd recommend that if it's your first time eating there get the burger. If you're a big eater like me get the double. One patty for me wasn't enough with the wedges.

After living away for a few years, when I finally moved back, a darrell's peanut butter burger was an absolute must. It did not disappoint. Burger was absolutely delicious, Wedges were fantastic and crispy all around fantastic experience. Highly recommend.

Came for lunch given the reputation. We were not disappointed. The burgers were delicious and huge. The fries are definitely unique and very crispy. The creamsicle milkshake was a huge hit. And they have paper straws!! Which was awesome to see.

The burgers are incredible. The Swiss & Mushroom burger is what you always hope for but never get at other restaurants. The Peanut Butter burger lives up to its reputation. Poutine is also a show stopper. Just go already.

The restaurant had friendly staff and a variety of burger options. I got the peanut butter and swiss cheese burgers, and they both didn't live up to the hype. The beef patties could have used more seasonings. I also ordered orea shake and peanut butter chocolate shake, which were again slightly above average. However the fries were crispy and had zero oil, and had good portions of fries and shakes.

We were seated quickly and our server was friendly, cheerful and efficient. My wife had what she described as the single best milkshake she's had in her life. Burgers were delicious and the poutine and fried pickles were amazing. Was recommended by a local and certainly lived up to the hype. A definite must when in Halifax.

Always have a good meal here with my family. Is a student area but the atmosphere is still generally good and never have left annoyed. On today's visit I had an issue with my meal but server #000009 was very courteous and professional and resolved it with satisfaction. Would recommend (often do) and go back.

A very friendly and attentive staff. It's busy restaurant you might have to wait to get table. The have many Gluten Free options. The restaurant has a ramp for accessible entrance. The food was good, I had their house fries tasted great whereas their pita bread roll was good enough.

Great find! Amazing for families and some of the best burgers we have ever had. Travelled in from Ontario with the family and found Darrell's. Kids loved it. Our waitress was so nice to us and especially to the kids. Would highly recommend the peanut butter burger and the hen 'den burger. Great food at a great price! Everything was delicious: the peanut butter burger (fresh ground beef with no fillers.....lots of bacon....a slice of real cheddar cheese....all on an amazing fresh homemade bun), loads of crispy Darrell's fries, and the huge thick and creamy chocolate milkshake (you get it in a milkshake glass, plus the stainless milkshake cup with the leftovers). Great value for the money. Fresh, hot and tasty, quality food at reasonable prices. A great menu with both familiar and unique offerings. Our server was efficient, attentive, and naturally friendly. The place was packed - always a good sign! I highly recommend this eatery.

This was my 1st time there with family celebrating my nephews birthday. I ordered a veggie platter with onion rings. The service was very good from the moment we entered the place. The food was very good and was impressed that the onion rings were not greasy. I would definitely go back to this place and recommend it to friends. For a Sunday it was very busy and the wait times were not long. Keep up the good work.

Unfortunately this is one time that soliciting a rating isnot in their best interest. This time I was very disappointed, my sweet potato fries were cold when they arrived and I believe they changed their dipping sauce, it was almost sickly sweet and way to garlicky to eat. Normally the burger I get is beyond delicious, this time it just gets an ok.

This restaurant was recommended to us from a nurse at the iwk. We decided to give it a shot because of the positive review. The moment we walked in..the atmosphere caught our attention. Then our server "Courtney" came right along and was the most attentive little spitfire! She laughed a little with us..and a little at us (we were ridiculously tired and a little foolish). The food was spectacular and the creamsicle milkshakes...for everything holy...were devine! It's no wonder y'all won the award for best burger and milkshake! We will be back :)

Great amount of options and the option to turn every burger patty into a vegetarian patty makes lives for people like me, who donât eat beef a lot easier. The only possible thing that is holding me back from giving that 1 star is the seating inside the restaurant which could definitely be improved and being a little bit on the pricey side.

Finally went to this place after so long!! I have to say it felt like a little piece of New York, I felt like I was back in the East Village of NYC. The food was amazing, I usually hate feta chesse but I loved it on their lamb burger & the fries no matter if it was the darrell fries or the normal fries but were amazing. A big shout out to the staff as it was amazing service for a busy Tuesday night. Also the milkshakes were amazing!!!!<br/><br/>I will be back for sure!!

The peanut butter burger... need I say more? Their peanut butter burger is award-winning for a reason - and all those who say they couldn't imagine eating PB on a burger definitely haven't been to Darrell's! <br/>This is the only item that I've had at Darrell's,and although I'm all up for trying new things, I don't think I can stray from this one! Along with Darrell's fries which are also amazing, this comes up to the perfect meal to satisfy your burger craving. <br/>Although I find that the quality of their PB burger dies down during Burger Week (you can't blame them for having to make so many of the same burger each day for 7 days), I would always be down to visit Darrell's during any other week of the year. <br/>I have yet tot ry their milkshakes but haven't heard anything negative about them before! <br/>Cheaper burger combos can be found in other places in Halifax - but none like the PB Burger at Darrell's!

Heard great things about the burgers and milkshakes at this place so here we go. . peanut butter definitely does go really well on burgers and I would have never thought! The peanut butter burger with Darrell fries is a pretty good meal and you top it off with a nice beer on tap or/AND (preferably AND) a nice seasonal eggnog milkshake with a shot of rum and you are all set for the evening. Great meal, great vibe, they got it right!

I know I might get some flack from this review, and thatâs ok. This burger is an acquired taste, and I know many people love it, but I unfortunately am not a huge fan of this particular one. I do urge people to go and try this burger though and form your own opinion of it. Just because this burger isnât for me personally doesnât mean that it canât be your new favourite burger, and if you donât want to go for the burger, at least go for the fries (and the super delicious milkshakes!).

Bland burger. Took my mother to see what all the fuss was about; I am still wondering. I had the Lamb burger which had an odd, chewy texture. If not for the feta and other toppings, the burger would have been flavourless. The bun was too big & too dense for the burger & I left most of the bun on the plate - resorting to eating the burger with a knife and fork. The only thing saving this meal was the cider and sweet potato fries. I also found the menu a bit pricy for a luncheon meal. 3 out of 5 stars.

A Serious Disappointment. I've lived in Halifax for 7 years now and decided to finally see what all the hype about Darrells is and quite honestly, I'm still wondering. The food was NOTHING to write home about and the service was absolutely horrid. The server presented as very disheveled. We waited what seemed a lifetime for her to ask for our drink order and then the highlight was she took our order and then looked at my friend and said "Are you okay? Is everything okay here?" Absolutely odd...definitely won't be back!

My Wife and I enjoy Darrell's food we come quiet a bit and get the wraps yesterday we came and got our regular meals Club Wrap and BBQ Wrap, as we were eating I discovered a metal staple in half of my wrap....waitress was great and comped our meal an gave us a gift card for us to come back next time. kitchen staff need to be more focused on what their doing instead of gabbing and joking with each other and the wait staff perhaps if they were paying attention they would have seen the staple as they were making the wrap.

Burgers NOT FROZEN. In March of 2012, Darrell's switched from a frozen sirloin patty to "Fresh never Frozen" Certified Angus Beef" It is outstanding and by far the best tasting and highest quality beef available! They are truly amazing burgers...!

Sometimes a restaurant just rubs you the wrong way... Today at Darrell's that was the case! Indifference by staff towards regulars really puts me off... I have been a regular at Darrell's since the first owner originally opened the place way back when... I'm not looking for special treatment --- just not bad treatment and indifference... Especially when the place is busy. Rethinking going back here.....

I was in the area yesterday and decided to take a friends advice and try Darrell's. We absolutely loved it. The patio was perfect, well shaded on a 30 degree Halifax day. Our waitress was fantastic, courteous and quick. But most importantly was the meal. We ordered deep fried pickles , the peanut butter burger and the pepper burger. One of the best meals I have had in a long time. I text my friend to thank him for sending me here. Fantastic meal, atmosphere and service. Great job and I will definitely return.

Best Burger and Wraps. My husband and I moved to Halifax from New Jersey a few months ago. Darrell's reminds us of Johnny Rocket's -well, at least the burgers. Not very healthy, but damn its good! On the healthier side could be their wraps if you order it correctly.

Best 'shakes in town!. I've been here a few times for lunch, and my husband and I absolutely LOVE the milkshakes at Darrell's. Each visit, I always get a 'shake with the chicken "barbie" pita - too good for words! I haven't worked up the courage to try the peanut butter burger, but being the "foodie" that I am, i'll have to try it soon!

Owner Speaks. I have been reading the posts and normally don't get involved in these but I did want to say that Darrell's has always used a frozen patty and that has never changed. I was surprised when we won our first award for best burger because of this but I have come to understand that it is the total package of ingredients that makes them so tasty as well as the fact that we use 100% sirloin beef. The only change to our burger was 2 years ago to one that was 30% larger as I thought this was necessary as we always strive to improve the product here at Darrell's. We are now very excited to announce that we are working on the logistics of making our own fresh burgers in house. We have been working with a local meat provider for the best premium local product and hope to have this in place by the fall. It isn't as easy as you might think with the volumes we do and the thing that is paramount to us is the consistency of our product. Something we have become famous for and one of the reasons we have not taken the plunge on this previously. We will always continue to strive to better our products and look for the best NEVER the cheapest so stay tuned and let's do lunch!

Vegetarian burger. My husband and I had heard good things about the burgers at Darrells so we decided to check it out. We both ordered the same dish - the vegetarian burger with fries.The veggie burgers lacked flavour and texture resulting in something akin to a mushy piece of cardboard. The accompanying fries appeared to be straight out of a bag. Overall, the meal was boring. Surprising, given all of the best of food awards this place has received.

There is nothing more exciting, for someone in my position, then when you hear of a new burger that has come to a local restaurant. A new burger can end up being a hit or miss, but either way, itâs still another chance to sink my teeth into a potential new favourite. While doing some burger research (we all have our hobbies) I came across a new burger on the menu at Darrellâs Restaurant. Located at 5576 Fenwick Street, this was my second visit to Darrellâs since starting this blog (my first was actually for the premier burger for LoB). Having heard nothing about this new creation, I wasnât sure what to expect, but that didnât stop me from wanting to get my hands on the Piggy-Back Burger.

The vanilla milkshake is as tasty as they claimed, and I like the fact that even though it comes in a nice glass with a straw, they also bring you the metal shaker they used to make it so that you can enjoy the leftover milk and ice cream. What a great idea!
