Ho my... one of the best steak i ever had.
I did not know to what kind of restaurant i was going, all i did was... best steakhouse in ottawa and google maps show me the way to that place. Now, although at first i must admit i felt a bit out of my place (the restaurant is a bit classy, and we were on our way back to our camping ground with my 5 year old daughter after a day at the museums). The personnel's service was mint, even though you could tell it's not a place for children, but my daughter felt like a little princess living the "grande vie" and behave accordingly (really not a place if you have disturbing childrens lol). I'm not sure if it to make our daughter special because she behaved so well, but the owner gave her an amazing chocolate cake on the house ! (talk about service !)
Prices are what i would expect from a place like this, not for the slim purse, but real fine considering the kind of place. I will definitly go back, but probably alone with my wife the next time for a couple's night out ;)
Very attentive service, steaks were cooked to perfection on a real wood burning grill, and we had a lovely room to boot. We reserved a table and had a nice quiet spot for dinner where we had a lovely view of the river. 100/100 - would not change a thing.

My taste buds were tantalized as I indulged in the tantalizing tartar beef, harmonizing with the velvety allure of broccoli soup.The pinnacle of culinary opulence was reached with the arrival of a majestic 12oz NY steak, a succulent masterpiece that captivated our senses and left us yearning for more. The grand finale was none other than a divine creation of cheese cake, bestowing upon us a heavenly conclusion to this culinary odyssey.Enthralled by the enchanting ambiance, we beheld the breathtaking scenic view, an awe-inspiring backdrop that elevated the occasion to an ethereal realm. It's been a while since I've had a decent steak. Can safely claim that my time there has been the best service I've had all year thanks to Myriam and Shaw-Michael, they're passionate, dedicated and focused individuals who go up and down flights of stairs for their customers.
Lastly the place looks amazing, great views, great historical venue. Perfect spot for a fancy date. You will be treated like royalty and nothing less.
We absolutely enjoyed our experience at Sterling. The steaks are phenomenal, and so is the wine selection. But my favourite thing by far was the stellar service provided by Gen! She’s so knowledgeable and helped us through are meat selection and explained every cut thoroughly! Absolutely would recommend and we hope to visit again as soon as possible!
It's my favorite steakhouse in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. The portions are larger than expected. The steaks are simply awesome. The price is right for the quality offered.
Delicious filet mignon. The calamari is very tasty as well.
Beautiful view of the Gatineau river sitting on the nice patio. Food is amazing, had a delicious New York steak with all the different sauces on the side , for appetizer braised Scallop and a spectacular Burrata salad! Service was really good. A definite thumps up, you won't be disappointed.
The location is amazing with a river view, and the Gatineau hills in the background. Our food was excellent, but was not served hot. The server was knowledgeable, and friendly without being overbearing. My major issue was both the server and the busboy had dirty fingernails, the uniforms were slovenly, and the table settings were those of another era. I expected more attention to detail from a restaurant at this level. However, the server still received 20%, and we will be back.
Came here for birthday dinner. The food was delicious! Highly recommend the escargot appetizer. Service was superb, ask for Marc! He was so hospitable with a great sense of humour. I had an incredible evening :)
Probably one of the best dinners I've ever had. The best comparison for this steakhouse is Gibby's in MTL, and the steak at Sterling just way outmatched it.
My other dishes were just as wonderful as the steak. Absolutely bonkers that they could develop this flavour profile in their steak, it's just a unique experience. The menu had a nice amount of protein and seafood options without being overwhelming. It's such a red flag if a restaurant menu is too long, and this one is perfect.
Service was incredible, I had the best time. Super considerate, experienced servers that you just don't find elsewhere. Everyone knew their stuff. Had an awesome little tour from the manager and a great conversation.
The wine list is comprehensive and has a ton of price points. They had our favourite Portuguese import!

We thoroughly enjoyed our office Christmas lunch. The setting was on the main floor with lots of natural light overlooking the stunning Ottawa River view. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Two of our party of 16 were not so keen on the accompanying sauce for the salmon. Otherwise the favourite was coq au vin; most ordered lamb shank with mushroom risotto and vegetables. It was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to returning!! Thank you!
