In a grand celebration of our enduring love, my beloved wife and I embarked on a magnificent journey to Sterling to commemorate our glorious 10th year wedding anniversary. Though the experience carried a weighty price, its splendor was unparalleled and undeniably justified.Delightfully, the epicurean adventure began with a divine menu du jour, presenting a symphony of flavors through three exquisite courses. My taste buds were tantalized as I indulged in the tantalizing tartar beef, harmonizing with the velvety allure of broccoli soup.The pinnacle of culinary opulence was reached with the arrival of a majestic 12oz NY steak, a succulent masterpiece that captivated our senses and left us yearning for more. The grand finale was none other than a divine creation of cheese cake, bestowing upon us a heavenly conclusion to this culinary odyssey.Enthralled by the enchanting ambiance, we beheld the breathtaking scenic view, an awe-inspiring backdrop that elevated the occasion to an ethereal realm. It's been a while since I've had a decent steak. Can safely claim that my time there has been the best service I've had all year thanks to Myriam and Shaw-Michael, they're passionate, dedicated and focused individuals who go up and down flights of stairs for their customers. Lastly the place looks amazing, great views, great historical venue. Perfect spot for a fancy date. You will be treated like royalty and nothing less.

We absolutely enjoyed our experience at Sterling. The steaks are phenomenal, and so is the wine selection. But my favourite thing by far was the stellar service provided by Gen! She’s so knowledgeable and helped us through are meat selection and explained every cut thoroughly! Absolutely would recommend and we hope to visit again as soon as possible!

It's my favorite steakhouse in the Ottawa-Gatineau region. The portions are larger than expected. The steaks are simply awesome. The price is right for the quality offered.

Delicious filet mignon. The calamari is very tasty as well.

Beautiful view of the Gatineau river sitting on the nice patio. Food is amazing, had a delicious New York steak with all the different sauces on the side , for appetizer braised Scallop and a spectacular Burrata salad! Service was really good. A definite thumps up, you won't be disappointed.

The location is amazing with a river view, and the Gatineau hills in the background. Our food was excellent, but was not served hot. The server was knowledgeable, and friendly without being overbearing. My major issue was both the server and the busboy had dirty fingernails, the uniforms were slovenly, and the table settings were those of another era. I expected more attention to detail from a restaurant at this level. However, the server still received 20%, and we will be back.

Came here for birthday dinner. The food was delicious! Highly recommend the escargot appetizer. Service was superb, ask for Marc! He was so hospitable with a great sense of humour. I had an incredible evening :)

Probably one of the best dinners I've ever had. The best comparison for this steakhouse is Gibby's in MTL, and the steak at Sterling just way outmatched it. My other dishes were just as wonderful as the steak. Absolutely bonkers that they could develop this flavour profile in their steak, it's just a unique experience. The menu had a nice amount of protein and seafood options without being overwhelming. It's such a red flag if a restaurant menu is too long, and this one is perfect. Service was incredible, I had the best time. Super considerate, experienced servers that you just don't find elsewhere. Everyone knew their stuff. Had an awesome little tour from the manager and a great conversation. The wine list is comprehensive and has a ton of price points. They had our favourite Portuguese import! Atmosphere is also unbeatable - Really gorgeous restaurant. Yeah, no notes, super thankful for the experience.

We thoroughly enjoyed our office Christmas lunch. The setting was on the main floor with lots of natural light overlooking the stunning Ottawa River view. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Two of our party of 16 were not so keen on the accompanying sauce for the salmon. Otherwise the favourite was coq au vin; most ordered lamb shank with mushroom risotto and vegetables. It was absolutely delicious. Looking forward to returning!! Thank you!

I've been fortunate to celebrate many milestones at Sterling, and I keep returning because it's simply one of the best restaurants in town. The food is always delicious and well prepared; the service is impeccable. I highly recommend trying it out for a classy, intimate vibe.

Great food and service. We were seated inside but the restaurant has a great patio with nice views of Ottawa River. The pationis by the road but it does not seem too busy. I had surf and turf apetizer which consisted one jumbo shrimp and 1/4 cup beef tartare served with yummy crackers. Perfect size of appetizer in my view. Tasty and nicely served. I had a goat cheese filet mignon with garlic mashed potatoes. Good size portion, not too big and not too small. Goat cheese adds amazing and interesting flavor to the steak. Potatoes were very smooth and tasty. Nice presentation however the dish could use a nice garhish of fresh herbs like parsley or chives but that is a very small detail. For desert I had peacan cake. I though I was getting and pie but the piece was bigger then expected. Coffee was a bit bitter. Overall a great experience.

Cowboy beef taste very very good. I feel Scallop too expensive and small portions. Beef tata appetizer and soup is average.

In town visiting and went out for dinner. From the soup to dessert, the four course meal was delicious. I will be back when in town again. George and Jonathan were great and not intrusive but attentive. Was also a pleasure seeing the owner who took the time to catch up from years ago.

Amazing service and excellent food! Our server was Stefan and he made our night! The anniversary touch was extremely thoughtful! We will be back for sure!

Great dinner out with friends! Most of us opted for the table d'hote and the one who didn't, regretted it (of course their a la carte meal was also amazing) Food was cooked perfectly and served at a perfect temperature, wine selection and drinks were great, and the service was impeccable. Was our first time, but we'll be back again soon I'm sure.

Great food! Portions are quite big, an appetizer and meal would have been too much for me.

Last night I was looking to take my fiancé out for the nicest steak dinner that we could get within 100km of our town. We went to Sterling for the first time, we both said that it was the best steak we have ever had in our lives. On top of the delicious food, our friendly server Pascal made the experience even better with his unique drinks. I would highly recommend Sterling to anyone that is looking for high quality dining.

Amazing hospitality and the food is out of this world. Simply the right place to celebrate an anniversary.

My friend and I tried for the first time the Sterling restaurant yesterday evening. I must admit that my experience was very dissapointing. First, my filet minion was not cook as I asked. When the manager came to ask us how was the food, I explained him that I was not satisfied with the cooking and the only thing he said was "Thank You" and left... Also, the service was very slow. Between our appetizers and main dish we waited about 30 mins. There were not many people in the restaurant. We even had to poor twice our bottle of wine because our glasses were empty. I must admit I was expected way more for a high class restaurant. We personally won't come back. On a good note, I would like to mention the great service of Olivier, the bossboy. He was very fast and very polite. I highly recommend him to become a server. Thank you Olivier!

Ho my... one of the best steak i ever had. I did not know to what kind of restaurant i was going, all i did was... best steakhouse in ottawa and google maps show me the way to that place. Now, although at first i must admit i felt a bit out of my place (the restaurant is a bit classy, and we were on our way back to our camping ground with my 5 year old daughter after a day at the museums). The personnel's service was mint, even though you could tell it's not a place for children, but my daughter felt like a little princess living the "grande vie" and behave accordingly (really not a place if you have disturbing childrens lol). I'm not sure if it to make our daughter special because she behaved so well, but the owner gave her an amazing chocolate cake on the house ! (talk about service !) Prices are what i would expect from a place like this, not for the slim purse, but real fine considering the kind of place. I will definitly go back, but probably alone with my wife the next time for a couple's night out ;)

Very attentive service, steaks were cooked to perfection on a real wood burning grill, and we had a lovely room to boot. We reserved a table and had a nice quiet spot for dinner where we had a lovely view of the river. 100/100 - would not change a thing.

We reserved at this restaurant after having a reference from the manager of the Bestwestern expecting a good meal in a nice romantic restaurant. The food was fabulous from the appetizers to the desserts. The filet mignon was the best we ever ate. The service and staff were impeccable! I felt like being on cruise ship with all the attention we got. As a bonus we had a nice view of the river. This was definitely a nice way to end the day and celebrate our anniversary. I would rate this restaurant 6 stars out 5. Thank you to the manager and the staff for this wonderful evenning.

Excellent steakhouse malgré le fait que lors de notre passage, un lundi soir, le resto était presque vide. Ne cherchez pas l’originalité ici, c’est un steakhouse classique. Mais la viande est excellente, les sauces et accompagnements aussi, et les desserts maison. La marquise au chocolat noir est divine. Service sans reproche.

Always a great place to feel welcomed. The staff is very professional. As for food, I can only comment on the Papa's cut. 20 Oz of Rib Steak. The savors are well kept and the taste stays long enough to marry a sip of wine. I would recommend to anyone.

I went to Sterling to celebrate my birthday and I would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for fine dining, quality food and service. We were greeted by the owner who gave us a private tour of the restaurant and wine bar. He checked in on us every once in a while and bought my entire family a round of drinks for my birthday! Such a great experience- when we left, we felt like we were saying goodbye to a friend :) great food and people!

Extremely disappointed in the service we received last night. The food was just ok. We were seated out in the brightly lit room where we could hear all the conversations of the other patrons. We usually love The Sterling and would normally recommend it to everyone but not after this last visit. I’m not sure what has changed in the last few months since our last visit but we were extremely disappointed in our server as well as the bus person and the ambiance of the restaurant.

Had a birthday dinner here with my husband. Service was impeccable and our meals were delicious. Steak was cooked to perfection and the taste of the wood stove makes such a difference. They even gave us a double dessert on the house with a candle for a birthday treat! Fabulous service from Pascal. Can't wait to go back!

Service impeccable, sélection de vin incroyable, nourriture apprêtée avec soin et plein de saveur, décor chaleureux. Le gérant a pris le temps de venir discuter avec nous, nous a fait visiter la cave à vin et nous a même offert un digestif, gracieuseté de la maison... bref, une soirée exquise en tout point. Wonderful dinner last evening. Dominique is an amazing waitress. Professional, charismatic, and so knowledgeable. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. We will definitely be back again.

Have been going to Sterling for the past 10 years. Food is always excellent and service is above reproach. We now compare other restaurants service to Sterling. This may not be fair but we do it anyways. Ahmed Ana's made us feel at home since th first visit. He has said that Sterling is our home and we don't even need a reservation, so we tried it last Friday after going to Cirque and sure enough we were given our favourite table. We should try something else on the menu but we always go for the small filet, it is always cooked t perfection. I always recommend Sterling, you will NOT be disappointed.

When they bring you your steak to inspect before they put it on the grill. Enough said . 5 stars

It was amazing! We got a tour of the whole place, we had a great table in a quiet corner, the steaks were amazing and the wine selection was fantastic!!! We definitely decided to make Sterling our Go To place for special date nights

Ce restaurant à perdu des plumes comme on dit... huîtres dégoûtantes chaudes servies sur de la salade et non sur de la glace ... agneaux très moyen ... steak de thon également tres ordinaire. Ce n est plus le sterling que j ai connu il ya quelques années ... le filet mignon de ma mere etait Bon par contre. Mais bref tres ordinaire ... déception.

Travelled from The Westin Hotel to Gatineau to try the Sterling and glad we did! We were greeted by Ahmed the Maitre'd. He insisted on giving us a full tour of the restaurant including their exclusive wine cellar. Was patient in explaining the vintage, rare wines they offer. He explained that the wine in hand was $7,500 and the most expensive was $10,000. He explained the importance of Chateaux Mouton Rothschild labels to artists. Past artist include Chagall, Picasso, Tàpies, Francis Bacon, Dali, Balthus, Jeff Koons and even Prince Charles, the Prince of Wales. He had steve of the bottles on hand. We toured their outdoor dining area that overlooks the Ottawa River with views of Rideau Hall and the much more impressive home of the British High Commissioner. "Papa Steaks" were the steaks of choice tonight. All were brought to the table and approved before they were sent to the BBQ. All were cooked to perfection before they were served. Staff were very patient as we socialized quite a bit before we got done to business. We went through a lot the amazing baguette before ordering. We found the ambience of the dining area very conducive to our evening catching up with old friends. We found the pricing for the restaurant exactly matching the high value dining we experienced there.

My husband and I came to Sterling for our (belated) anniversary and had the best restaurant experience ever! Perfectly cooked steaks, delicious appetizers, delectable dessert and wine and the service was impeccable. Worth every penny!

Nothing would ever come close the the level of professionalism and true love for the culinary arts.
